Chapter 342 - Chapter 342: Tang San Is Really Easy to Trick!

Time flew by, and by the end of February, inside the Heaven Dou Imperial Court.

"Everyone, I intend to join forces with the Spirit Hall to pressure the Star Luo Empire and unite the continent." The substitute Xue Qinghe declared solemnly.

"Your Majesty!" Immediately, a minister stood up. With the Heaven Dou Empire flourishing, he felt there was no need to ally with Spirit Hall.

Xue Qinghe pressed his right hand down slightly. "This is the will of the Gods."

As his words fell, light flared in the center of the hall. Four figures appeared—Dugu Yan, Qian Renxue, Qian Muxue, and Bibi Dong—all with ten spirit rings glowing beneath their feet.

"Your Majesty is wise." The minister shrank his neck, cupped his hands, and quickly retreated.

The other ministers didn't even dare to breathe loudly. With four Gods standing before them, what words could they still speak?

Xue Qinghe continued, "It has been decided: once the continent is unified, the Spirit Hall shall be established as the state religion. The Gods of humanity shall be enshrined, aiding the empire in managing soul masters across the continent. Branch halls and academies shall be built everywhere. First, to spread education, awaken spirits, and provide stipends for the common folk. Second, to regulate soul masters and prevent bullies, or worse, the rise of fallen soul masters."

"All within the empire, regardless of family or lineage, must awaken their spirits through Spirit Hall, be registered, and come under supervision."

"The precedent of Tang San and the Clear Sky Sect should be very clear to you all."

The ministers nodded one after another. They had heard about the Slaughter City being wiped out. Fortunately, Tang San hadn't slaughtered an entire city on the surface.

Fallen soul masters were a threat to everyone, no doubt about that.

"Our Seven Treasure Glazed Tile Sect is willing to accept imperial supervision," Ning Fengzhi declared immediately.

So long as he held tight to Yang Yunhai's thigh, his sect's position was unshakable!

"We are willing to accept supervision." The ministers followed quickly. In such circumstances, even if unwilling, they had no choice.

"From this day forth, Spirit Hall will no longer be inherited by one lineage alone." Bibi Dong spoke next. "All Titled Douluo across the continent shall be registered as offerings. Each will be qualified to run for Pope. Elections shall be held once every five years, with a maximum of three terms. The Pope will no longer be the supreme ruler, but a chosen leader of virtue, subject to the supervision of the empire, the people, and the Gods. In return, the Pope shall be rewarded by the Gods."

"This is both recognition of merit and compensation for the time spent on governance rather than cultivation."

'So if your cultivation can't go higher, just become a diligent Pope. Work hard!' The ministers instantly understood.

"Spirit Hall shall not interfere with the internal politics of the empire, nor remove emperors. But it shall hold the right of oversight. Should an emperor prove unworthy, the Pope may call upon the Titled Douluo for investigation. If confirmed, the emperor will be taken before the Gods for divine judgment." Bibi Dong's voice was cold. "Before the Gods, nothing can be hidden. This shall end the schemes of ambitious clans and ensure rulers treat their people well."

This was a sword hanging above their heads, a warning to all future kings.

'If the Gods want faith, they'd better ensure the empire is governed well. Otherwise, what use is the rule forbidding interference from the God Realm? They just sit around idly, leeching off the lower world!' Since inheriting the Asura God position, Bibi Dong knew far too well how rotten the God Realm was.

"The emperor is willing to be supervised." Xue Qinghe spoke next. "Furthermore, from today forth, all emperors and ministers of the empire must retire at the age of sixty. The empire must stay young and vital, not stagnant. Old age breeds conservatism. To keep the empire moving forward, we must be willing to sacrifice."

The ministers exchanged glances. Though they were unwilling, four Gods stood right there—what else could they do but accept?

Debates over the details of the Heaven Dou–Spirit Hall alliance continued, focused on uniting against Star Luo. Noble and slave systems, however, were left untouched for now. The time wasn't ripe.

Meanwhile, Yang Yunhai had already returned to the Star Dou Great Forest.

With Dugu Yan, Qian Renxue, Qian Muxue, Bibi Dong, Dugu Bo, Ning Fengzhi, and many others managing affairs, Yang Yunhai had no need to involve himself.

As for Tang San? Three Gods against one—there was no chance of him winning.

What Yang Yunhai needed most was to cultivate.

"Ah, no human rights, no human rights!" his clones sighed, disguised and sent across the world as "batteries," working hard to store elemental energy to feed Yang Yunhai's fourth spirit ring toward its million-year evolution.

Days later, Heaven Dou troops marched toward the border.

In Star Luo's imperial court, the news spread quickly.

"Your Majesty, the Heaven Dou army gathers at the frontier!"

"So, Xue Qinghe finally moves." The Star Luo Emperor's face darkened. "Ready the troops. War is upon us."

At that same moment, in the Rakshasa secret realm—

"Rakshasa God's Ninth Trial, complete! Rakshasa God reborn! Reward: all spirit rings increased by 50,000 years."

A cold voice echoed as Tang San floated, clutching a dark purple scythe. Beneath him, nine black spirit rings instantly shifted into nine red. Then, a tenth ring formed—emerald-gold, shimmering ominously.

His scythe turned from purple to green, bloodlines of light writhing across it. His green battle armor pulsed with sinister energy. His Eight Spider Lances twisted into scythes. His hair flowed dark green, his eyes reptilian vertical pupils.

From head to toe, Tang San radiated green, surrounded by poisonous smoke.

"At last…" He exhaled slowly, lips curling.

"Yang Yunhai, Dugu Yan, the Heaven Dou royals, Spirit Hall… are you ready?"

He lowered, sealed the scythe into his brow, and walked toward the realm's portal.

Stepping out, he entered a gloomy canyon crawling with venomous insects.

Spreading his senses, he shot off like a streak of green light.

Along the way, he heard town gossip:

"Heaven Dou marshals troops at the border."

"So Xue Qinghe acts." Tang San's eyes gleamed, then darkened. "Back then, you chose Yang Yunhai's side. You doomed the Clear Sky Sect, and my father died in disgrace. Now—I will destroy your empire."

He soared toward the Star Luo imperial capital.

In the Star Luo throne room, the emperor addressed his ministers. Suddenly, green light flared—Tang San appeared.

"Who are you, sir?" The emperor's pupils constricted, waving his hand to hold back his guards.

"You do not need to know this God's name," Tang San said coldly. Ten rings rose underfoot, divine might bursting. "I am here for one thing only—to help you destroy Heaven Dou and Spirit Hall. When battle begins, I will appear. Draw out their strongest. Leave the rest to me."

Before the emperor could respond, Tang San vanished.

The ministers erupted.

"Ten rings! Could it be… a God?"

"The enemy of Heaven Dou and Spirit Hall… Is he here for revenge?"

The emperor frowned deeply. Then he nodded. "Send word to Heaven Dou. This war shall be settled in one battle. I will lead personally."

Back in Heaven Dou, the news reached the court.

"One decisive war? The emperor of Star Luo truly dares." Dugu Bo sneered. "He must have found support. Could it be… Tang San has become a God?"

"Likely." Qian Renxue nodded.

"Then we go quietly to the border as well," Dugu Yan said icily. "This time, he will not escape."

Qian Renxue turned to Qian Muxue. "You remain behind to guard the children."

"Of course." For the children's safety, Qian Muxue agreed without hesitation.

Days later, armies clashed near Longxing City.

Tang San stood on a mountain, smirking. "Chickens and dogs, the lot of them."

Spotting the Heaven Dou chariot carrying Xue Qinghe, Dugu Bo, Ning Fengzhi, and Sword Douluo, he sneered. 'Yang Yunhai is absent. Pity. I'd have wiped out Yunhai Academy in one strike. But now—I'll prove myself a God in open battle.'

The horns blew. Two armies faced off.

Tang San lifted his scythe. "Ninth skill—Soul-Eroding Toxic Prison!"

From the ground, giant purple blossoms burst forth, vomiting poison fog that drifted toward both armies.

On the Heaven Dou side, Dugu Bo snorted coldly. "So this is your ally, Emperor? That green fog—pure poison. Your troops will die first."

The Star Luo Emperor's face turned pale.

"Father, we've been tricked!" Dai Weisi roared.

Tang San only laughed, weaving his spell tighter. "Since you see it—let it spread openly!"

A vile green pillar of light blasted toward the battlefield—

But golden flames tore it apart.

"Divine power!" Tang San's head snapped upward. Qian Renxue descended, wings spread, blazing in holy sunlight, Angelic Sword gleaming.

"Tang San. Barely ascended, and already you seek to massacre millions. You deserve death!"

"Hmph. Same level as me. Why should I fear?" Tang San called forth his Rakshasa scythe, his armor, his Eight Spider Lances, rising to face her.

Another voice rang out.

Water burst from the forests, freezing into an ice dragon. From its head stepped Dugu Yan, clad in azure scales, trident in hand.

"Did the Rakshasa God forget to mention? The Angel God and Sea God have already passed their positions down. And… so has the Asura God."

A bloody glow followed—Bibi Dong appeared, clad in scarlet armor.

"Three Gods!" Star Luo's forces gasped in despair.

"You should have gone for Yunhai Academy. Instead, you came here. Perfect—we'll end you without harming innocents." Dugu Yan's voice dripped venom. "Tang San, you're nothing but Rakshasa's disposable pawn."

Tang San's face flushed with fury.

"Kill him!" Bibi Dong roared, sword slashing down.

"Divine laws forbid Gods from slaughtering each other!" Tang San panicked, shouting desperately.

"You slaughtered millions already—you're no God, only a plague!" Bibi Dong struck.

Qian Renxue dove with her holy sword.

Dugu Yan unleashed Unfixed Storm, the ultimate divine control skill, locking Tang San in place.

"You're so easy to trick," she mocked coldly. "Even I can crush you, let alone Yunhai. Did Rakshasa never tell you? Sea God's abilities restrain you perfectly. You're just a scapegoat."

Qian Renxue's sword blazed, descending with divine judgment.

"Ahhhh!" Tang San screamed, writhing in agony as holy fire burned his poison and malice away.

Dugu Yan's trident struck through his chest.

Bibi Dong's sword followed, cleaving his body. His soul cracked, bursting apart.

"Don't let him self-destruct—we'll need the body for public display," Dugu Yan warned.

Bibi Dong sliced off Tang San's head. His spirit ring floated free, only to be shattered in midair.

With a final shriek, Tang San's soul was annihilated.

Later, his broken body hung in Heaven Dou's marketplace for three days before being delivered to Yang Yunhai for study.

Yang Yunhai accepted it calmly. "A divine corpse has many uses. Blood-Origin Genesis will make good use of this."

He sank into the Lake of Life, beginning his research.
