Chapter 4 - Chapter 4: "Shakugan no Xiahou Dun" and "The Gift of Hibiscus King"

Uncle Big Nose was the first to cut to Hua Jian's screen.

"So fast, this is too fast, isn't it? Contestant Hua Jian has already decided on the title as soon as he started? Let me see... steins;gate? Hmm, it's a bit unclear, to be honest, I didn't immediately understand the meaning of this title."

Uncle Big Nose looked at the title on the paper, pinching his chin.

"After all, the keyword we drew this time is 'time,' and there are no restrictions on the overall theme. It merely uses 'time' as a limiting keyword, which actually makes it very difficult to come up with a title that clearly indicates the specific content of a work."

"Personally, I still have expectations for a creator with such speed. After all, being able to quickly come up with a title based on the scope of the prompt is a skill. It takes real ability to quickly connect the story in one's mind with the keyword provided by the production team and bring it to life."

After Uncle Big Nose finished his evaluation, Cowboy Hao also immediately offered his opinion.

"My opinion differs a bit from Uncle Big Nose's. In this day and age, there's no shortage of works that trick people into watching with bizarre titles. Often, a show is halfway through, and you still don't even know what its title means. You force yourself to watch until the end, only to surprisingly find out that the title has absolutely nothing to do with the plot!"

"I hope this contestant doesn't take such a crooked path. I still hope he can create well."

Tang Sanshui shared Cowboy Hao's view. He nodded, echoing, "Exactly, whether it's this contestant or others, they should focus on creation and not always think about using crooked ways to take shortcuts."

The three teachers' comments concluded, but Host Fang Yuan noticed that two other teachers had not yet expressed their opinions, so he raised the microphone and asked them:

"What do you two teachers think?"

Miss Qihai spoke first: "Hmm, ah, about this... I'm not really paying much attention to this contestant. If you ask me, we can look at other contestants, can't we? There's plenty of time, and besides the title, there are other things to evaluate, aren't there?"

"Mm-hmm, I think so too," Teacher Dong Xuelian also nodded.

After all, it seemed Hua Jian hadn't made any moves since writing down the title, and had been stuck for a while. Perhaps he was organizing his thoughts, but it was more likely that he hadn't thought of anything and had just thrown out a mysterious title.

"Right, right, the teacher makes sense. Go watch Xin Mi's live stream, he's at number 39."

"Don't get hung up on this title. I'm sure it's just a pure bluff."

"If you ask me, it's the same old three-trick pony, a continuous three-trick pony. He throws out a gimmick first, which immediately bluffed the three teachers and got him a separate review. I bet he'll be exposed soon!"

The judges one by one closed Hua Jian's live stream and turned to focus on other contestants.

"Is Xin Mi starting with character design? Indeed, characters are the soul of a story in most cases. A good story definitely needs excellent characters to be convincing. There's nothing wrong with this choice," Tang Sanshui nodded, looking at the white-haired elf on the paper.

Uncle Big Nose glanced at the big screen and casually said, "However, no matter how exquisite the character design, the story ultimately has to return to the story itself. I hope his story synopsis can be written with style."

Character design takes a lot of time, and even with the existence of animation production machines, it cannot be said that all work can be completed by the machine.

After all, the machine is where results are materialized, not where simple steps are uploaded.

A certain degree of drawing skill is still necessary, and this is a part that technological development cannot fully replace.

While Tang Sanshui and Uncle Big Nose were evaluating Xin Mi, Miss Dong Xuelian had already switched the live stream again, arriving at live stream number 18, which was the equally popular live stream of Contestant Xia Chun.

She had also begun her own creation.

But unlike the previous two contestants, she seemed to be starting from the setting.

"Eh, Flame Haze, Blazing-eyed Hunter, Torch, Denizen of the Crimson Realm—this setting seems interesting, doesn't it?" Dong Xuelian's eyes suddenly lit up as she looked at the content on the paper. "Is she planning to completely create an exciting worldview?"

"Not quite, I see traces of a modern city in it. Perhaps it's a fantasy combat type based on a city?" Qihai shook her head, then suddenly exclaimed, "Wait, she has also decided on the work's name."

"'Shakugan no Xiahou Dun'? It sounds like a work centered around a single character."

Although the two voice actors gave positive feedback, this time Uncle Big Nose was ready to pour cold water again: "Hmm, purely from the setting, it seems pretty good, but isn't this contestant a bit off-topic? Our theme this time is 'time.'"

"Let's wait and see, let's wait and see."

"Just now, Xin Mi, who completed his character design, also revealed his work's title, 'The Gifted Furongwang.' Both seem to be unexpectedly character-centric works."

While the judges were commenting on other contestants, in Hua Jian's live stream, after writing the title, he re-sorted his memories, confirmed that all content was correct, and finally picked up his pen.

The instinct contained within his body allowed the brush to move freely, and the appearances of each character leaped onto the paper.

The mad scientist, Hououin Kyouma.

The genius girl, Christina.

The fated childhood friend, Miss tuturu.

The overpowered super hacker, Mr. Hashida.

The defeated female supporting character, Miss Suzuha.

The shining Shiatsu therapist, the young lady of Akihabara, Schrödinger's trap... Hua Jian fluidly drew each distinct character onto the paper.

The mad white coat was raised high, an action of unclear meaning, clearly used for a deliberate show of coolness, showcasing Hououin Kyouma's physique to the extreme. A slight stubble made him appear somewhat mature, and his seemingly deep eyes further intensified this sense of gravity.

Long, slender legs and perfectly outlined black stockings intertwined, thoroughly displaying the girl's arrogance through the curves of her body to the fullest, complemented by her slightly cold face—it was simply perfect!

Looking at the character designs he had materialized, Hua Jian's mouth curved into an exaggerated arc.

Hmph, won't this immediately cause a massacre?
