Chapter 14 - Chapter 14 Half a Person is Afraid to Scare You to...

"You? Applying to be a bodyguard?"

Tony looked at Du Mu with an absurd expression.

Du Mu nodded: "Yeah, aren't you just in need of a bodyguard right now? And I just happen to need an employer."

What a coincidence.

Tony rolled his eyes, too lazy to beat around the bush, and directly pointed out: "Happy was injured by you, wasn't he?"

Du Mu immediately widened his eyes: "You can't just say things like that. I've never even met your bodyguard."

"...I never said Happy was my bodyguard."

Tony felt his temples throbbing, and he irritably questioned: "You're a S.H.I.E.L.D. Agent, why are you coming to be my bodyguard?"

Du Mu shrugged: "No choice, an Agent's salary is too low, so I have to take on part-time jobs to earn some extra money. Some Agents even write web novels as a side gig, but after they stopped updating, a reader located their address and went directly to their home to break their legs. They're still laid up, but that reader was actually recruited by our agency, because talent like that is truly rare."

Tony: "..."

What kind of nonsense is this?

"I don't need a new bodyguard, and besides, Happy isn't my only bodyguard." Tony flatly refused.

Jarvis interjected at the opportune moment: "Sir, a correction, your other twelve bodyguards were also attacked and hospitalized this afternoon. The attackers' descriptions are consistent: a man with black hair and black eyes, wearing a pink short-sleeved shirt and beach shorts."

"???"

Tony glared at the innocent-looking Du Mu. Is this even something a person would do!?

"Artificial intelligence?"

Du Mu was surprised by Jarvis's existence.

Although artificial intelligence was already common in his era, and some people even fell in love with artificial intelligence, he remembered that the timeline in this game seemed to be 2008, and artificial intelligence was a rather rare thing in this era.

"Yes, Sir, I am Mr. Stark's artificial intelligence butler, Jarvis." Jarvis replied.

"Can you switch to a mature female voice?" Du Mu asked curiously.

"...No, Mr. Stark has not set any other voices for me."

"Boring."

Du Mu pouted, seriously suspecting Tony had some special Hobbies.

What normal man would set his artificial intelligence butler to such a magnetic British uncle voice?

Tony took a deep breath: "I don't need a bodyguard, I can manage on my own!"

"Are you sure?"

Du Mu raised an eyebrow and said cheerfully: "Don't say I didn't warn you, those shareholders out there would love to chop you into eight pieces. They're much more vicious than those Terrorists; they might even chop off your little brother and make soup."

Tony's expression instantly froze.

He was silent for two seconds, then almost gritted his teeth as he squeezed out the words: "Congratulations, you're hired!"

"Alright, Boss." Du Mu grinned.

...

Los Angeles, outside the Walt Disney Concert Hall, was brilliantly lit, with a red carpet laid out.

Countless media reporters set up their long lenses and short lenses, scrambling to interview the socialites walking the red carpet, flashlights flashing one after another.

Just then, a deep and extremely oppressive engine roar came from far and near, instantly drowning out the noise of the scene!

A silver-gray luxury sports car was seen driving from a distance, rushing towards the red carpet entrance at an astonishing speed.

Just when everyone thought it would lose control and hit the guardrail, the sports car made a sharp, almost arrogant drift, its tires screeching against the ground, and it stopped steadily at the starting point of the red carpet.

A sharp-eyed reporter immediately recognized the car's model and its Master.

"It's Tony Stark!"

"Oh my God! Tony Stark is actually here!"

"Quick! Point the camera there! Quickly, damn it, shoot those two fake balls! Shoot Tony Stark!"

"..."

The exclamations instantly ignited the reporter section.

All the cameras and flashlights, like sharks smelling blood, turned in unison towards the sports car.

It should be known that Tony Stark is undoubtedly the current king of traffic, his topicality and attention far exceeding any celebrity or political official.

His appearance immediately became the focus of everyone.

Soon, Tony got out of the car, adjusting his suit.

However, his face looked a bit pale, and his steps seemed a little unsteady.

Du Mu got out of the driver's seat, closed the car door, and shook his head at Tony's appearance: "You're a bit weak; you can't even handle this speed."

Who the hell would drive over two hundred miles per hour in the city!?

Tony suppressed the churning in his stomach and the dizziness, roaring frantically in his heart.

He swore that he would never ride in a car driven by Du Mu again in his life!

Tony tried his best to maintain his composure, pretending not to hear Du Mu's words, and walked towards the concert hall entrance with slightly floating steps.

At the entrance, he met a burly bald man.

This person was Obadiah Stane, the second largest shareholder of Stark Industries and his father's old friend.

"The Master hasn't arrived, what is the guest doing here?"

"Look who's here, isn't this our hottest topic person?"

Seeing Tony's arrival, Stane wore a seemingly benevolent smile, but his eyes flickered.

At this moment, Stane's gaze fell on Du Mu, who was beside Tony.

Before this, Du Mu knew he was attending a banquet, so he had changed into a well-tailored pure White suit in advance.

[Equipment: Charisma Suit (A very handsome suit that greatly increases your charisma when worn)]

With the enhancement of this suit, Du Mu, whose looks were already not inferior to the readers, appeared exceptionally dazzling, his brilliance even temporarily overshadowing the people around him, almost outshining Tony beside him.

As for why it was 'almost'?

No choice, Tony had the powerful halo of a billionaire on him, no amount of charisma could completely suppress it.

Stane scrutinized Du Mu, who had an outstanding temperament and was even more striking than the surrounding celebrities, secretly speculating that the other party's identity was definitely not simple.

With the intention of getting acquainted, he asked Tony: "This gentleman is?"

"My new bodyguard."

"?"

Stane was utterly bewildered.

Is the bodyguard industry this competitive now?

Tony was clearly not interested in explaining further, and after a few perfunctory words with Stane, he took Du Mu into the concert hall.

Upon entering the concert hall, Tony immediately saw his female assistant Potts, who was holding a wine glass and chatting with someone.

"Do as you please."

Tony tossed a remark to Du Mu and then walked straight to Potts, engaging in an office romance in front of everyone.

"As expected of Teacher Tony, who is known as a playboy; his flirting skills are definitely maxed out."

Du Mu looked at the two who were almost merging and shook his head, indicating he couldn't learn it.

Before the game started, he was a single dog; even though he wasn't bad-looking, he just couldn't find a partner, and to this day, he still doesn't understand why.

Just then, a blonde beauty in a dazzling evening gown noticed Du Mu and walked over with a charming smile.

"Hey, are you here alone?"

"Nonsense, half a person would probably scare you to death."

"..."
