Chapter 21 - Chapter 20 Interdimensional Energy

If there really was a rift, then all he had to do was open it and go home. How simple and convenient!

Why hadn't he thought of such a simple thing?

All this time, he had been trapped in the strange loop of needing to use Wells's 25th-century scientific knowledge to go home, struggling within it.

Actually, it was very simple: just find a rift where he came from and go back.

It was like opening a door: open, step out.

Everything was so simple.

Lin Li was eager to move, and in an instant, he became so excited, as if he had been injected with a stimulant, completely forgetting himself.

He grabbed Doctor Wells's arm and said excitedly, "The lightning must have struck that black energy sphere, activating some unknown, strange interdimensional energy. Maybe that black energy sphere is the interdimensional energy itself, and its activation created a passage to this world."

"Interdimensional energy can theoretically leak from one universe to another. When enough interdimensional energy leaks, it might form an interdimensional black hole, leading to another world."

Lin Li's eyes gleamed, and in his excitement, he unconsciously tightened his grip on Doctor Wells's hand.

Wells felt his right arm clamped as if by an iron vice, unable to move. He groaned in pain.

"Ah…"

Seeing Wells's face turn red, Lin Li finally snapped out of his overly excited state and released Wells's right hand.

His strength was not something an ordinary person could withstand, let alone when he was in an excited state and accidentally used a bit too much force.

Just now, he had felt as if he had squeezed Wells's bones, so much so that when he let go, a deep red handprint was left on Wells's arm.

Looking at Wells's cold sweat and gasping, pained expression, Lin Li felt apologetic yet secretly pleased.

However, Lin Li hadn't done it on purpose; it was genuinely unintentional due to his excitement.

Lin Li said with sincere apology on his face, "Doctor Wells, I'm sorry, I got carried away."

Doctor Wells stammered, his hand trembling as he said, "Lin Li, your top priority right now is to build a detector to check for the existence of interdimensional energy, and I, well, I need to go find Caitlin and have her treat me…"

Doctor Wells, sitting in a wheelchair, sweating cold, trembling, and looking like an epileptic, seemed particularly amusing to Lin Li.

All this time, whether from the TV show or after transmigrating to this world, Doctor Wells had always given the impression of being gentle and refined, knowledgeable, learned, and possessing a calm, warm, profound, and kind aura. Even when his true colors were revealed at the end, he was still spirited, confident, calm, and arrogant.

Suddenly seeing this 'epileptic' Doctor Wells made Lin Li feel such a great sense of surprise that he almost burst out laughing.

Fortunately, Lin Li's self-control was quite good.

He quickly pushed Doctor Wells's wheelchair with a 'flustered and nervous' expression.

"Doctor Wells, I'm so sorry, truly sorry. I'll push you to Caitlin right away."

A moment later, Lin Li pushed the 'epileptic' Doctor Wells, who was still gasping, from the basement to the Surgery, where they found Caitlin.

"My goodness, this is almost a bone fracture!"

Caitlin looked at the red handprint in shock; by now, it had turned purple and started to swell.

"It was an accident, an accident! I'll go get blood-activating agents, painkillers, and anti-bruising medication. Caitlin, you can massage Doctor Wells's hand to improve blood circulation and apply a cold compress first."

Lin Li hurriedly ran to the medicine cabinet to get the drugs. He was very familiar with the place, as Caitlin had often examined him and Barry there a few days ago.

Caitlin, meanwhile, massaged the area around Doctor Wells's injury to improve blood circulation and applied an ice pack.

After their treatment, Doctor Wells was fine, only unable to use his hand too forcefully for a few days. Due to the effects of the medication and physical pain and fatigue, he slowly fell asleep on the hospital bed to rest.

Seeing Doctor Wells's face covered in cold sweat and a pained expression, Caitlin was initially startled but relieved that it was nothing serious.

She pulled Lin Li into the hallway to avoid disturbing Doctor Wells's rest.

Caitlin's eyes widened, and she glared like a fierce little tiger: "Lin Li, you dare to hurt Doctor Wells? I'll smack you to death!"

She held a file high above her head, as if to strike him. She had been quite frightened just now; she had never seen Doctor Wells in such a state—so much pain, covered in cold sweat, gritting his teeth in agony.

During her most difficult time, the lowest point in her life, she had lost her reputation, her fiancé, everything. At that time, she felt the sky was gray, and life had no meaning, no reason to exist. She even contemplated suicide.

During that darkest period, it was Doctor Wells who stayed by her side, comforting her, guiding her, reassuring her, telling her that everything would be alright.

Doctor Wells was not just her boss; he was also a highly respected, trustworthy, kind, and grateful mentor-like figure to her.

Now, if someone wanted to hurt Doctor Wells, she certainly wouldn't allow it.

Lin Li said to Caitlin with helpless apology, "No, Caitlin, I didn't hurt Doctor Wells. Why would I hurt Doctor Wells?"

"We were talking about a possible way for me to go home, and I got so excited that I instinctively gripped Doctor Wells's arm too hard, and that's what happened. I'm very sorry."

Caitlin thought about it and realized it made sense. Although Lin Li had only been there for a few days, he didn't seem like someone who would intentionally harm others. The reason of being unable to control his strength due to excitement also made sense, especially since he had been constantly looking for a way home.

"Really?"

Caitlin asked, confused.

"Really."

Lin Li nodded, speaking sincerely.

Caitlin lowered the file, holding it to her chest, and let out a sigh of relief.

She continued to ask, "Have you and the Doctor found a way to go home?" She was also very interested in such supernatural sci-fi matters, as the humans and creatures of another world were quite intriguing to her.

Speaking of this, Lin Li became excited.

"Yes, it's possible. No, I will definitely be able to go home. There's no reason why I can't."

Lin Li said, beaming.

"Come on, let's go find Cisco. I'll explain it to you in detail. We need to build an instrument to detect a type of interdimensional energy."

On the hospital bed, Doctor Wells slowly opened his eyes, a cold glint appearing within them.

Lin Li's strength had surprised and pained him immensely.

In the basement, in that instant, he had thought Lin Li had discovered his identity as Reverse-Flash and was going to kill him. At such close range, unless he severed an arm and escaped with the Speed Force, there would have been no way out.

Wells narrowed his eyes, the pain from his arm making him grit his teeth and secretly make a decision.

Lin Li must leave here as soon as possible.

This factor would be very uncontrollable.

Especially since the other party was such a clever person, he wasn't sure how long he could hide his Reverse-Flash identity from him.

Too much information had been leaked that night. There were very few people he could suspect, and if someone really investigated, it would be easy to trace it back to Wells.

This made Wells very worried.
