Chapter 41 - Chapter 40 Tornado

"Barry, run in the opposite direction of the tornado, use the counterforce to cut it off. Run, don't just stand there like an idiot!"

Lin Li was practically yelling, what couldn't be stopped, you could have stopped it from the beginning.

Caitlin said, "What? This isn't a joke. Barry, you'd need to run at least 700 miles per hour to cut off this kind of tornado. Your body won't be able to handle it; you'll die."

Barry heard Lin Li and Caitlin's words and hesitantly said, "I need to try."

700 miles = 1126 kilometers = Mach 1.

In other words, Barry needed to run at a speed of 340 meters per second to counteract the tornado.

Currently, Barry's speed was around 90 meters per second, meaning he needed to increase his speed by four times to cut off the tornado.

Lin Li thought about the data, took a deep breath, and realized that watching the TV show, he didn't feel anything, Barry just ran out with Dr. Wells's encouragement. Now that he thought about it, this was simply impossible. Even if it were possible, his body would collapse. But in the TV show, he just ran out so easily. This is ridiculously absurd. This can only mean that under the protection of the Speed Force, even if your speed breaks through the sky, it doesn't matter if your body is that of an ordinary person; the Speed Force will protect you.

Lin Li was already speechless about the Speed Force. How could it make Galileo, Newton, Einstein, and countless other scientists feel?

Speed Force, you're amazing, you win. You are indeed the most powerful force that overrides all laws of physics.

Even with such an absurd increase in magnitude, Lin Li didn't think Barry or the Speed Force couldn't do it. The Speed Force was not a power that could be imagined. What was truly lacking was Barry's will; he didn't have a strong will.

The wind was getting stronger and stronger, and the dirt stirred up by the tornado dyed it gray, deep, and oppressive.

Barry took a deep breath and ran towards the tornado with yellow electrical arcs.

Yellow lightning swirled around the tornado created by Marden.

Marden saw the yellow lightning once again surrounding him and screamed frantically, "Die, die, die… I'll destroy all of you! Everything!"

Only the raging wind 'whooshed' and swirled, trees and everything else were 'crashed' and randomly swept up and blown away. The noise was too loud, so Marden's frantic screams could only be heard by himself.

Barry sprinted against the tornado, the wind sweeping towards him felt like knives, scraping his face, causing a faint pain, and like a battering ram, the pressure rushing towards him made him endure unprecedented pressure, running with difficulty.

Marden's control made the tornado more and more powerful, plowing a deep furrow in the muddy ground.

Barry felt his speed was slower than ever before, and the pressure in front of him was building up, wave after wave.

Finally, amidst Marden's wild laughter, the yellow lightning was flung away.

Barry was caught by the tornado, swept up and thrown, tumbling several times.

He got up, looked at the tornado in fear, and called out on the communicator, "I can't do it, I can't. It threw me, I can't stop it. Lin Li, when can you get here?"

The violent tornado made Barry scared, timid, and helpless. He couldn't stop such a brutal, terrifying weather phenomenon. Ultimately, he was just an ordinary person who ran a bit faster. His newly-found confidence was shattered again.

He called out to Lin Li, placing all his hope on Lin Li. Lin Li was much stronger than him. Even his own life had been saved by Lin Li. What he couldn't do, Lin Li surely could.

He unreasonably placed all hope, all his helplessness, himself, his city, his friends, and family on Lin Li.

What a joke? A transmigrator transmigrates into The Flash, and in the first episode, The Weather Wizard destroys Central City? This plot is wrong.

Lin Li gripped the communicator and said fiercely, "Barry, you must be able to do it."

"No, I can't. Only you can stop Marden. Sorry, I can't do it."

Barry said with a crying voice, if this tornado truly reached F5 level power, it would be a disaster, a disaster that would destroy Central City, causing devastating blows to everyone—friends, family, work, dreams… everything.

Caitlin, Cisco, and even Joe were all silent, silently filled with pessimism. Everyone wanted to do something to change the situation, but the situation was too dire, and there was no way to change it. They could only remain silent and pessimistic.

Damn it, Barry's will is too fragile.

Lin Li cursed inwardly. The current situation didn't have Wells to encourage Barry. Everything had changed since he arrived. At this most critical moment, a character needed to drive the important plot, what should he do?

Where could he find Wells to encourage Barry now?

Wait, it's just encouragement.

Lin Li's mind went 'ding-dong'. If his head could light up, it would be glowing now, proving he had thought of a solution.

Wells is not here.

I'll do it!

"Barry, listen carefully."

Lin Li's voice came through the communicator, and the few people couldn't help but feel a glimmer of hope.

Barry listened intently, believing Lin Li surely had a solution.

"I can't get there, I'm stuck at the third traffic light."

"Central City is not my city, I don't care. My beloved here."

"No job, no dreams, no family for me."

"Even if it's destroyed, I can go to another corner and continue to survive."

Lin Li's cold and ruthless words made Barry feel a chill down his spine.

"Lin Li, wha…"

Barry tried to speak but was immediately cut off by Lin Li.

Then, a furious roar came from the communicator.

"You are The Flash! You must protect your city, not rely on an outsider."

"Your friends Cisco, Caitlin, Wells, your beloved, your father, your father in prison, and Joe."

"All of this, you must protect."

"You must be a hero. Do you have the consciousness of a hero?"

"Do you have the determination to fight to the death and be a hero?"

"Protect this city, protect all your people."

"Tell me!"

Lin Li's roaring voice was deafening, and his gradually rising tone stimulated every cell in Barry's body.

A surge of passion erupted from Barry's chest.

It burned through his body, making every cell feel intensely scorched.

He recalled everything: his father in prison, Joe, the person he had lived with and loved for over a decade, Iris, Caitlin, Cisco, Dr. Wells, and all the beautiful things in this city.

All the images flashed through his mind.

With each image that flashed, his heart grew a little firmer.

His actions and dreams became even more resolute.

Barry, invigorated, roared back at Lin Li.

"I do! With a determination to die, I will protect everything! Tell me, what do I do!"

Lin Li's voice was deep and heavy as he said, "Go hug Joe, and then run for your life."

Cisco and Caitlin both gasped, this… this sounded like a farewell.

Barry looked at Joe with unwavering eyes, embracing his foster father, the father who had raised him for fourteen years, the person closest to him.

He whispered, "Joe, don't worry, I'll protect you."

Joe didn't know what to make of it, but he felt as if Barry was saying goodbye to him, as if he was leaving him forever. This made him reluctant, and he held him tightly.

Joe shook his head, tears in his eyes, "No, Barry… don't…"

Barry struggled out of Joe's embrace, transforming into a yellow electrical arc, and surged towards the tornado.
