Chapter 84 - Officially Forgiven

Some minutes passed and Haru's mom was yet to come down to his room for the back rubs.

He spent the time sitting on the edge of his bed, staring at the glow-in-the-dark stars still stuck to his ceiling from when he was eight.

The house was quiet now, quiet except for the occasional thump from upstairs that he desperately tried to pretend was the washing machine.

He rubbed his face.

'Since when did mom and dad become so energetic? Those therapy sessions must be paying off, I guess."

He sighed and looked around his room, then at his door.

He thought of Renji.

"…Man, we've been real dicks to that kid, haven't we?" he muttered to the empty room. "I mean, it's not like I want to. Kaito makes the rules."

He thought back to dinner.

Renji hadn't been so bad. He was even kind of funny. 'I can't lie. I laughed at a few of his jokes about school, but… ugh…'

He folded his arms. 'I feel like we could have been cool friends if it wasn't for Kaito. And if he wasn't such a know-it-all.'
