Chapter 144 - Still Trying

Renji slung his backpack off his shoulder, placing it on a table. He reached to unzip the bag but paused, turning to give Bunji a quiet stare that lasted for a while.

Now it was his turn to prove a point.

Bunji narrowed his twitchy eyes. "What?"

"If I give you this money," Renji said, "what assurances do I get that you're not going to try anything else?"

Bunji smirked. "What the hell are you talking about now? Are you trying to buy time cause you don't really have the money?"

"Of course I have the money."

"Then give it to me."

Renji narrowed his eyes. "Assurances, Bunji."

The delinquent looked at Renji with that smirk still on his face. Then he scoffed, backing up. "Alright then. We'll shake on it. A street thug never goes back on his word. Besides, you can just report me to that police friend of yours for shoplifting but you haven't."

Bunji grinned hideously. "I don't want to do anything that will make you go and do that."
