Chapter 40 - The Good Guys don't Always Win

Wiliaquo: He thrashed violently in Valkun's grip, clouds tearing apart where molten fingers crushed his throat. "H-how did you find us?!" His voice cracked as his form destabilized, wind unraveling under the heat.

Valkun: He seized Wiliaquo's arm and snarled, flames erupting down his forearm. "You seriously think I can't decode a hidden message?! FUCKING IDIOT!" The fire tore through cloud and wind alike, burning the limb until it ripped free at the shoulder. He hurled the severed arm aside. "Pathetic fuck." One brutal kick sent Wiliaquo crashing into the castle stairs, the entire structure shuddering. "Did you REALLY think you could hide from me forever? Galacor made rewiring your little transmission easy." His head tilted as a child's cry echoed faintly. "Oh?"

Wiliaquo: He groaned, clutching the smoking wound as his essence spilled out like fog. "D-don't you dare…" His eyes flicked between Valkun and the castle doors, terror and fury mixing in his shaking form.

Valkun: He scoffed and kicked him aside without looking. "I'll deal with your weak spirit soon enough." He marched upward, every step melting stone into glowing slag beneath his feet.

Wiliaquo: His limbs trembled as he dragged himself across the floor, vision blurring. The open gateway pulsed ahead, Alces' cage visible within. "Alces…" he whispered, crawling forward as his power failed him. Something in Valkun's presence smothered the wind itself, preventing regeneration.

Monse: She burst into the hall, screaming as she unleashed a spiraling torrent of water straight at Valkun. "TIFFANY! Wake up, please!" The beam slammed into him with desperate force.

Valkun: He raised one hand and fired a piercing shot of magma straight through the attack, punching into Monse's shoulder. "Did you all seriously just become fucking lazy?!" He charged through the hall, walls liquefying around him, and grabbed her by the chest. With a roar, he slammed her through the left wall. "No fighting spirit, no technique. You never even learned to bring your domain with you." His gaze snapped to the room beyond, where Tiffany lay unconscious, and Multhi sobbed on the floor. "You two had a FUCKING CHILD?! DISGUSTING!!"

Multhi: His cries intensified, the sound sharp and panicked. His eyes blazed blue as freezing air surged outward, frost crawling across the room. The temperature dropped violently, and a massive ice spike erupted toward Valkun.

Valkun: "WHAT THE FUCK?!" He unleashed a burst of flame, vaporizing the ice instantly, though his eyes locked onto the child with sudden intensity.

Monse: Gritting her teeth through the pain, she blasted water into Valkun's back. His molten core hardened slightly, steam screaming into the air as the clash shook the castle once more.

Wiliaquo: He dragged himself through the gateway, the world warping as he crossed into the prison space. The heat and screams faded behind him, replaced by a suffocating stillness. His body flickered violently, clouds thinning as his essence bled onto the stone beneath him. He collapsed just short of the cage, coughing weak mist. "A-Alces…"

Alces: The massive form within the cage stirred. Vines creaked and tightened as dim green light seeped through the bars. His eyes slowly opened, widening in horror as he saw Wiliaquo's state. "Wiliaquo?! What has happened to you?!"

Wiliaquo: "T-there's...N-no time, Alces, you have to take Tiffany and Multhi away." He gritted his teeth, standing up slowly against the cage. Using the last bit of his strength to fire compressed wind within the lock, breaking the cage open.

Alces: "What- Who's Multhi?! I don't understand?!" He grabbed onto Wiliaquo's weak body before he could fall back down again.

Wiliaquo: "It is...our son. Take my family away from here, have Zilari...help you." His hand raised weakly, firing another short burst of air at Zilari's chains, breaking them. "Please...You have to..." An invisible force hit Wiliaquo hard in the face, knocking him back through the portal.

Galacor: He walked past Alces towards Wiliaquo, "You were not what I was hired to kill, nature being, do not involve yourself. Phantom Emperor."

Phantom Emperor: He became visible, floating over Wiliaquo's weak body, "Target's state is incredibly weakened, negative regeneration effect source unknown."

Galacor: "It matters not, we are here for the target." He knelt in front of Wiliaquo, closing his fist slowly, and a bright orange energy blade shot out of his wrist gauntlet, purple sawblade-like energy flowing around it. "The good guys don't always win, Wiliaquo."

Wiliaquo: He coughed violently, mist spilling from his mouth as he forced himself to look up at Galacor and then at Alces in the distance. "Tell my son, tell Tiffany, I love them more than anything." Silence weighed heavily between them, "...For the Light." His back was pierced by Galacor's blade, his eyes grew dimmer as his body slowly turned into just another gust of wind, leaving nothing but his attire.

Alces: His eyes widened, watching the one he grew up beside slowly turn into nothing. He wanted to step forward, wanted to fight, but with his brother's final wishes, he couldn't. "Damn it..." He shook his head, tears flying off his face as he leapt through the portal at extreme speeds, only appearing as a passing flash of green light.

Phantom Emperor: "Sire, I could have easily caught that slow figure." He looked down at Galacor.

Galacor: "Killing life in this surge timeline doesn't bring us victory, our goal is to wield the elements..." He stood up, turning away back toward the gateway. He stopped, looking over at Zilari's weak body. "Hmm." He turned away, vanishing.

Alces: As he ran through the castle walls, his life force accelerated, regenerating any bits of his body that were harmed within the cage. He looked at Monse and Valkun clashing in the hallway, sprinting into the room with the infant and daughter. He stared down at the baby, noticing his tears calming down when spotting Alces. Without wasting another second, he picked up Multhi and lifted Tiffany over his shoulder. He exited the room back into the hall.

Monse: "You will not ruin everything we have built!" She fired a pressurized beam of water straight at Valkun, knocking him through the back wall of the castle. She panted as she turned toward Alces, seeing him hold her children, told her of her lover's fate. As tears streamed down her face, she nodded at him, "For the Light..." Valkun formed behind her, slicing her in half with his large claw.

Alces: He flinched at the sight, crouching down and immediately sprinting out of the castle. He whispered under his breath as he hugged Multhi into his fur, "For the Light."

Valkun: He looked over at the room, noticing the children were no longer in there. He grunted, attempting to leave, but Monse's upper half grabbed his foot, causing him to look down at her.

Monse: She smiled weakly as blood leaked out of her torso.

Valkun: "What are you fucking smiling at?" His eyes burned brighter with rage.

Monse: "One day...Y-you shall look at that young boy in the eyes, and the only thing you will feel...is fear."

Valkun: He stomped on her body, her blood splattering against the melting walls. "A king does not cower in fear; your abomination of a son will meet the same fate as you all. The natural order is the only supreme way of life." He walked out of the castle, the walls crumbling behind him, water hitting his body and immediately evaporating. He noticed his rift was closed, "Fucking ALCES!!!" He opened a gateway, immediately trailing after them.

Alces: He used the vines on his body to pull Zilari out of the building while still holding the children, placing a glowing green flower inside his furnace. "Come on, come on."

Zilari: His eyes flickered on, burning a bright orange as steam exited his limbs, "Augh..." he looked down at Alces, holding the two children, and he immediately knew what had happened.

Alces: "We have to get out of here, please, Zilar. I know you don't like to use runes like this, but-" He was cut off by Zilari holding his hand up.

Zilari: "For them, I will." His hand shifted into his hammer, and the other into a rune implant, as he slammed his hammer down on it. A golden rune formed on all of their bodies, and with a quick flash of light, they were transported away.

Valkun: He burst out of his castle, looking around, letting out a furious roar. The entire magma planet shook violently. "GALACOR!"

Galacor: He appeared, "What?" His arms were crossed, staring up at Valkun.

Valkun: "FIND THEM NOW!"

Galacor: "Our deal was I find the other two, not them. Pay up."

Valkun: He growled, fire erupting from his body, "You USELESS fucking IDIOT!" He attempted to grab hold of him, but the Emperor formed between the two, grabbing Valkun's hand.

Galacor: "The star. Now." He held out his hand, waving his fingers, gesturing to hand him the artifact.

Valkun: His eyes narrowed, but he obliged, summoning a small enchanted leather pouch, "The Eternity Star, formed into a small artifact as requested."

Galacor: He took the pouch, weighing it in his palm as faint cosmic light leaked through the seams. "Pleasure doing business with you, but you are of no use to me anymore." He vanished as he finished his sentence with the Emperor.

Valkun: Flames burned bright around him as he roared. The entire planet erupted all at once, dragonoid figures running to hide or being killed by the overwhelming power. "I WILL FIND THAT FUCKING CHILD, IF IT IS THE LAST THING I DO! I WILL HAVE CONTROL!!!"
