Chapter 14 - IBIDS Chapter 14: The Enigma of Black: A Slayer's Journey Begins

Tanjiro was a little nervous. His eyes glanced at Senior Aoyama's sword, and he couldn't help but wonder what color his own sword would be. It would be good if it was similar to Senior Aoyama's sword.

Taking a deep breath, he forcefully drew the sword from its scabbard. A stream of blackness slowly spread from the bottom to the top. When the blackness had completely dissipated, the color of the sword was revealed.

Black!!!

Tanjiro rubbed his eyes. He definitely hadn't seen wrong. It was indeed black.

"What! Ah!!! Black!!! His is actually black!!!"

Haganezuka suddenly spewed air from the pointed mouth of his fire-man mask. It seemed he was quite upset. He had originally had high expectations for Tanjiro's sword.

After all, Tanjiro's hair was the color of fire, and the color of his pupils was also the color of fire. He was a 'child of blazing heat'. Logically speaking, if it wasn't a red sword, it at least wouldn't be a pitch-black sword, right!

Tanjiro was a little at a loss and asked, "Black, is there something wrong with black?"

Haganezuka, who was on the side, lowered his head, but his body was trembling.

Urokodaki Sakonji said, "There's nothing wrong with black, but I haven't seen a pitch-black one before~"

These words were meant as an explanation, but when Tanjiro heard them, they pierced his heart. Tanjiro's eyes turned to the sword in Senior Aoyama's hand.

"Senior Aoyama, mine is..."

But Takeshi put away his sword, held up one finger, and shook it, saying, "Don't call me. I can't help you with this, you know~"

Before Tanjiro could get discouraged, Haganezuka couldn't hold back any longer and raised his head, shouting angrily, "I thought I'd be able to see your bright red blade, damn it!"

He jumped and pounced on Tanjiro, using his legs and hands to lock him down tightly, with one arm locked tightly around Tanjiro's neck.

Tanjiro was yelping and shouting in pain, still holding his pitch-black sword in his hand, afraid to move rashly, lest he hurt Haganezuka.

"Please calm down, how old are you!"

"Senior Aoyama, Senior Aoyama, help, help me..."

Takeshi shrugged his shoulders and spread his hands, saying, "It's none of my business. Nezuko's awake, I'm going to chat with her so she doesn't get lonely."

Tanjiro was desperate. He shouldn't have expected Senior Aoyama to help him, because it was impossible!!!

Accompanied by Haganezuka's shout of "Thirty-seven years old!" a crow's call came from the sky, and a crow flew into the house and landed.

"Nagasawa Aoyama, Kamado Tanjiro! I will deliver instructions!"

Tanjiro was shocked. A crow, actually speaking!

"Head to the town in the northwest! Young girls are disappearing there!"

"Every night, every night, young girls are disappearing! Find the demon lurking there and defeat it!"

"You must be extra careful. This is your first job as demon slayers!"

Takeshi walked out of the room. It seemed there was work to be done. He strode to the crow, grabbed it by the neck, and said, "In that case, let's leave now!" Turning his head, he gave a slight smile to the others in the room.

Urokodaki Sakonji, Tanjiro, and Haganezuka only felt a slight chill in their hearts. His smile, Why did his smile a bit like a demon smile...?

The crow, being held by the neck, had a little trouble breathing and fluttered its wings.

"Um... Senior Aoyama, it looks like it's about to die," Tanjiro said softly, pointing at the crow.

Takeshi then let go. "Ha, forgot, sorry!"

He said the words "sorry", but he didn't really mean it. The main reason was that this crow had come at the wrong time. He had just sat down in the room and hadn't even said a word to Nezuko before it came, squawking away.

The crow took a deep breath of air. Fortunately, Tanjiro had reminded him in time; otherwise, it really might have died of suffocation.

This man in front of him, although smiling, was very dangerous!

They were about to leave for the town in the northwest, and as a trainer, Urokodaki Sakonji still wanted to tell the two of them some relevant things.

"Now that you're both wearing the Demon Slayer Corps uniform, the uniform is made of special fibers. It has good breathability, doesn't get wet, and is not easily ignited."

"Even the claws and fangs of those small demons can't tear this uniform."

Tanjiro looked down and touched the clothes on his body, unable to help but sigh, "So amazing..."

Takeshi wasn't very surprised. After all, back on Fujikasane Mountain, he had used the treasure chest that the system had dropped and already had a basic battle uniform. This Demon Slayer Corps uniform wasn't much different from his basic battle uniform.

At the end, Urokodaki Sakonji pondered for a moment, his eyes fixed on Tanjiro, and said, "There's one more thing, and that is your Nichirin blade. It will change color according to its wielder, and different colors have different characteristics."

"However, there are too few people whose blades turn black, and we don't know the details. We know too little about the details."

Tanjiro asked, "We know too little about the details, and then what, Mr. Urokodaki!"

Takeshi raised his hand and placed it heavily on Tanjiro's shoulder, saying, "Why are you asking so clearly? You just need to believe in yourself. Why worry about other things?"

Urokodaki Sakonji breathed a sigh of relief. It was good that Aoyama had changed the subject like this.

The details were too few, and some people said that a black blade was a sign that the swordsman was someone who couldn't rise to the top.

If he had said it, it would have damaged Tanjiro's confidence, and that would have been a loss.

Tanjiro glanced at his sister, who was poking her head out and looking at him from inside the room, and nodded heavily. "Yeah! Senior Aoyama, you're right. No matter what color the sword is, no matter what happens to me in the Demon Slayer Corps, I will definitely turn Nezuko back into a human!"

Urokodaki Sakonji looked at Aoyama with relief. This kid had finally said something serious.
