Chapter 4 - CHAPTER 4

First, he didn't have the overwhelming power to dominate the entire Shinobi World like Uchiha Madara.

Second, he lacked the political cunning necessary for high-level clan and village struggles.

Third, he still clung to his pathetic pride…

If someone like that didn't die, who would?

He really couldn't be bothered with these idiots anymore.

With a soft sigh, Uchiha Jin pushed open the door and stepped into his quiet house.

He dusted the place off quickly, then collapsed straight onto the bed, arms spread wide, completely relaxed.

In the past, he might have started his nightly training routine.

But now?

Now things were different.

With the "Lying Flat and Slacking Off System" at his disposal, why would he bother training?

Wasn't lying flat a thousand times more comfortable?

> Chakra +13

Fire Release +16

Lightning Release +11

Taijutsu +13

Yin Release +19

As he lay there, listening to the crisp series of system notifications, a faint smile tugged at his lips.

This was the life.

Growing stronger just by lying down?

System, you're my best friend!

After basking in the feeling for a while, he opened up the system panel:

Host: Uchiha Jin

Chakra: 1062 (For reference: Adult Kakashi = 1000)

Fire Release (Proficient): 168 / 400

Lightning Release (Beginner): 32 / 100

Taijutsu (Proficient): 121 / 400

Yin Release (Intermediate): 36 / 200

Sharingan: Three-Tomoe

Skills: Three Body Technique, Rokushiki, Great Fireball, Phoenix Sage Fire, Flame Bullet, Great Fire Destruction, Storm Dance

Overall Rating: Jōnin

Not bad at all.

Jin nodded in satisfaction.

Sure, compared to true monsters of the Shinobi World, he was still far from invincible — but it didn't matter.

At the very least, this strength was more than enough to survive the upcoming Third Shinobi World War.

Especially since everyone thought he was a deadbeat who barely scraped by at the academy.

With no talent worth cultivating and no special attention from the clan, he was basically destined to be treated as cannon fodder.

Which meant…

His teammates would probably be cannon fodder too.

And his jōnin instructor? Hah. At best, they'd assign a random chūnin.

True jōnin were reserved for prodigies like Kakashi.

And if all he faced were enemy grunts, survival would be easy.

Even in the worst-case scenario — say Orochimaru or Danzō deliberately arranged for him to be on a suicide mission — what were the odds they'd send elite enemies just to kill him?

Even Danzō wouldn't bother wasting resources on a so-called Uchiha who didn't even use his Sharingan.

As far as high-ranking Konoha leadership was concerned, he was a nobody.

"Perfect," Jin muttered under his breath.

"With this level of strength, surviving the war is no problem.

"Next step: slack off."

"Never reveal my true ability. If I ever find myself in a crisis, I'll wait until all my 'teammates' die first — then escape.

"Afterward, I'll just make up some excuse… like they were struck by lightning. Whether anyone believes it or not doesn't matter — I believe it."

"And if the story doesn't convince anyone? I'll just 'disappear' on the battlefield for a while.

"Then, when the war is over, I can stroll back into Konoha claiming I was gravely injured and nursed back to health by civilians.

"Sure, the Yamanaka Clan can probe memories, but I have a Three-Tomoe Sharingan. I can brainwash some poor civilian and implant fake memories. Problem solved!"

He smirked, thoroughly pleased with his plan.

Perfect.

For a man like him, who lived by caution and pragmatism, dying for Konoha was the last thing he wanted.

In fact, if there was any truly safe place in the entire Shinobi World, he would have defected already.

Yes, he'd even considered following Orochimaru's or Itachi's footsteps.

But he gave up on that idea quickly.

Orochimaru only escaped safely because Hiruzen Sarutobi let him go, unwilling to kill his beloved student.

Even Jiraiya, who chased him, held back.

And Itachi? He was only allowed to leave because he became Konoha's double agent in Akatsuki.

What about Jin?

Unless he actually wanted to join Akatsuki, defection was a death sentence.

Sure, he had jōnin-level combat power now — but there were plenty in Konoha who could crush him like an ant.

He had no political power, no allies.

Defection wasn't freedom — it was suicide.

Even if he managed to hide, he couldn't hide forever.

And living every day on edge, constantly worried about being discovered?

That was no life.

As for actually joining Akatsuki?

Ha! No way.

That group was doomed from the start — Nagato, Zetsu, Obito, even Madara pulling strings in the background…

No thanks.

He wasn't about to get dragged into that mess and end up as just another casualty in their insane plan.
