Chapter 21 - Glacial Clip

It was the morning.

The sun had barely climbed over Springdale's skyline, and Nate sat at the table sipping tea like nothing was wrong — even though the rest of the room was filled with pure, concentrated confusion.

He had just finished explaining everything that had happened since 8 a.m.

Now, across the table, sat Kunou, Kuroka, Whisper, Jibanyan, Hailey, Fumika, Frostina, Insomnia, Foiletta, Aaron, and Serafall.

On the video call, Yasaka and Lily were also watching, equally dumbfounded.

Every single one of them wore the same expression —

Error 404: Logic Not Found.

Serafall was the first to recover.

She blinked twice, tilted her head, and then leaned forward on the table, her voice rising with every syllable. "So, you're telling me… the literal Dragon of Infinity made a Demon Lord villain group… so that you could defeat her?"

Nate didn't even look up from his teacup. "Yes."

Hailey blinked slowly. "...Like, as in, a self-made evil organization?"

Nate nodded. "Uh-huh."

Whisper hovered beside him, looking equally exhausted. "And according to my records, she even hand-picked the members because, and I quote, 'every hero needs stylish villains.'"

Kuroka snorted, tail flicking. "Nyaa~ that's not a villain group, that's a cosplay club."

Jibanyan deadpanned. "Nyah, I've fought vending machines scarier than that."

Serafall just slumped back, hands covering her face. "This is worse than when Levi-tan tried to start a 'magical girl recruitment army'…"

Yasaka's voice crackled from the screen. "And the worst part is… people actually fear them. Every faction is taking them seriously."

Then Foiletta looked at Nate. "So, let me get this straight — Ophis made a supervillain team because she wanted you to defeat her… so you can take her in afterwards?"

Nate finally looked up, eyes tired but calm.

"Yes."

"And you're not surprised by this at all?" Fumika asked.

"Not really. It's Ophis."

The group collectively groaned.

Insomnia sighed, setting her notebook aside. "At this point, I'm not sure if we're in an apocalypse or an anime convention."

Frostina blinked innocently, sipping her own cup. "So, does this mean we can go ice-skating after?"

Everyone turned to her.

Kunou smiled awkwardly. "...Actually, that's kind of why we're here today, remember? The Glacial Clip."

Nate's eyes softened a little.

"Right. Frostina's evolution item."

Whisper's tablet lit up, projecting a hologram of a shining, crystalline hairpin that looked like a snowflake frozen mid-spin.

"The Glacial Clip — crafted only in the coldest heart of the Frost Realm. It's said to reflect the wielder's true emotions into their ice magic."

Serafall perked up again, curiosity replacing confusion. "Ooh~ sounds like an adorable power-up episode! Magical transformation time!"

"Not exactly," Nate replied. "The place it's found in — the Frozen Trench — is home to something worse than Yokai. Something that hunts souls that wander too long in the cold."

Jibanyan's tail puffed up. "Y-you mean like ghost cats?!"

"No," Nate said flatly. "Worse. Ice Wraiths."

The room fell quiet.

Even Kuroka's playful grin faded.

Hailey looked up nervously. "So… we're going there?"

Nate nodded, finishing his tea. "We are. But first—"

He turned to Frostina. "—you need to decide something. Once you wear the Glacial Clip, your emotions will no longer be something you can suppress. They'll manifest as your ice. Every smile, every tear… every fear."

Frostina blinked, a rare uncertainty in her normally calm eyes.

Then she looked up, determination hardening her expression.

"Then I'll show you my real heart, Nate. I'm ready."

Serafall looked at Nate as she spoke. "Ok, Ignoring the Glacial Clip for now. Nate, the Rumor's Khaos Brigade is something that's been going on, more importantly, there are some things we think are myths, and now you're telling them they are real and they exist because of what you said".

Nate looked at her as he spoke. "Yup"

Serafall blinked as she started to cry anime tears. "Nate-Kun, none of the other faction or the other 3 Satan are gonna believe me".

Kunou blinked as she spoke. "You mean to tell me the Satan's won't believe one of their own?"

Serafall wiped her tears dramatically. "You don't understand, Kunou-chan! They think I overreact when it comes to anime stuff! Last time I tried to warn them about an 'isekai-level threat,' they thought I was talking about a convention!"

Hailey sweatdropped. "…To be fair, you were holding a magical girl wand when you said it."

Serafall pointed the wand she was currently holding. "That's not the point!"

Nate sighed as he sipped his tea again. "Well, at least now you know the truth."

Serafall groaned, slumping onto the table. "The truth makes no sense! The Khaos Brigade are supposed to be scary! Not some… love-struck dragon's LARP project!"

Kuroka chuckled. "Nyaa~ sounds like a cute project to me. Ophis-chan's got taste."

Whisper was scrolling through his spectral tablet. "According to my analysis, the organization's hierarchy chart looks like it was made by someone who copied a game wiki, glued random villain names on it, and then gave up halfway through!"

Jibanyan crossed his paws. "Nyah, even I could make a better evil team, and I'm allergic to effort."

Fumika looked over at Nate, deadpan. "So… the literal infinite dragon made a fake villain group to get your attention?"

Nate just nodded. "Pretty much."

Lily, still on the video call, facepalmed. "I can't tell if that's romantic, stupid, or terrifying."

Aaron sighed deeply. "Why not all three?"

Yasaka chuckled. "Honestly, considering how strong she is, the fact she's acting like a JRPG boss instead of destroying the world is… impressive restraint."

Serafall suddenly stood up again, determination flaring. "Fine! If no one believes me, I'll just bring proof!"

Nate raised an eyebrow. "You mean—"

Serafall grinned. "That's right! I'll record the Khaos Brigade doing their weird roleplay speeches and show everyone at the next Faction Meeting!"

Everyone stared.

Hailey blinked. "…You're going to record the infinite dragon pretending to be a villain… and show it to the political leaders of the underworld?"

Serafall nodded proudly. "Exactly!"

Nate just groaned. "Yeah, that's gonna end so well."

Frostina quietly whispered. "We're all doomed, aren't we?"

Whisper floated next to her. "Statistically speaking? Yes."

Nate sighed as he spoke. "Do, the dream I had after Ophis left, after calling Me Mate was something".

Fumika blinked as she spoke. "Something? Was it bad?".

Nate remembered his dream, as images flashed in his mind.

Some of the girls in his harem are in wedding dresses for

Nate shook his head, as no one else could see his dream. "It was nice".

Kunou leaned forward, tail flicking curiously. "Nice as in peaceful… or nice as in embarrassing?"

Nate coughed, nearly spilling his tea. "Peaceful! Totally peaceful!"

Kuroka smirked, her cat ears twitching. "Nyaa~ judging by that reaction, I'd say it was both."

Serafall gasped dramatically, sparkling eyes full of mischief. "Wait-wait-wait! Don't tell me—was it a wedding dream?!"

Nate froze. "…No comment."

Hailey giggled, leaning over the table. "That's a yes!"

Ophis, who had been silently sipping her chocolate milk, calmly added, "I saw it too."

Everyone turned toward her instantly.

Nate blinked. "Wait—WHAT?!"

Ophis tilted her head, expression completely blank. "Shared dream. You called me 'Mrs. Infinite.'"

Kuroka fell off her chair laughing. "Nyaahahaha~ Mrs. Infinite?! That's priceless!"

Fumika's face turned red as she puffed her cheeks. "H-Hey! If it was a wedding dream, that means I was there too, right?!"

Frostina smiled softly. "If he said it was nice, then perhaps it was more comforting than he lets on."

Foiletta twirled her hair, grinning slyly. "I bet I caught the bouquet."

Hailey waved her hands. "Wait, wait—are we just ignoring the fact that the literal Dragon of Infinity is now in his dreams calling him 'mate' AND attending his imaginary wedding?!"

Serafall pointed dramatically again. "We are absolutely not ignoring that! This is officially the most romantic chaos I've ever heard of!"

Nate just slumped in his seat, muttering under his breath. "First I survive a dragon confession… now dream weddings. I really need stronger tea."

Whisper floated beside him, tablet glowing. "Or perhaps a dream exorcism. My services are reasonably priced, Master Nate!"

Jibanyan snorted. "Nyah, at this rate, you'll need nine lives to survive your love life."

Nate then blinked as they all realized that Ophis was here. "Wait, when did you return?".

Ophis looked at him as she spoke. "Right when you said dreams, I should be managing the Khaos Brigade, but I don't want you to lie, anyway, bye".

She went back to the Dimensions Gap, as Serafall cried out, telling her to at least give her some proof so the other Satan would believe her about the Khaos Brigade

Serafall slammed her hands on the table, tears streaming down her face cartoon-style. "OPHIS, COME BACK! At least leave a selfie or a signature! No one's gonna believe meeeeee!"

Kuroka sweatdropped, ears twitching. "Nya… that was so fast, I almost thought we imagined her."

Kunou rubbed her temples. "So… the literal Dragon of Infinity came here just to confirm Nate's dream wasn't fake, then dipped?"

Hailey looked genuinely baffled. "That's like walking into a room mid-conversation, dropping a bombshell, and leaving through a portal."

Foiletta snickered. "She's got dramatic timing down to an art."

Frostina, ever calm, nodded. "Perhaps… she is perfecting the 'mysterious mentor' archetype from her JRPG habits."

Nate groaned, covering his face. "No, she's just Ophis. Logic does not apply."

Whisper crossed his arms with a theatrical sigh. "Master Nate, I must say… your life is becoming an ever-expanding anime harem and multiverse sitcom rolled into one."

Jibanyan popped a donut into his mouth. "Nyah, and somehow you're the straight man in all this chaos."

Serafall sniffled loudly, pulling out her phone. "I swear, when I tell Sirzechs and the others, they'll just pat my head and say, 'Serafall, stop watching magical girl reruns before meetings.'"

Nate gave her a sympathetic look. "Yeah… that sounds accurate."

Serafall slammed her fist on the table again. "NOOOO!"

Meanwhile, Kunou leaned toward her mom's video call window. "Mom, remind me to never underestimate Nate's life energy. He's attracting gods, dragons, and magical girls."

Yasaka sighed with a small smile. "At this point, dear, it's less of attraction and more of gravitational pull."

Kuroka then looked at Nate a she smirked. "But back to Kitten Dream, Nyha~ you really dream the girls in your harem or will, some of us in wedding dresses?".

Nate was flustered this time as he had just spoken. "Is that wrong? I'm gonna marry all of you one day".

Now it was time for the girls to blush, not Ophis; she was already gone.

The room went dead silent for a few seconds.

Then—

Hailey's face went bright red. "W-wait, all of us!?"

Kunou's tails fluffed up instantly. "T-that's not something you just say so casually!"

Fumika's glasses fogged up. "U-um… i-if you're going to say things like that, please give a girl some warning first!"

Kuroka purred teasingly, her cheeks pink despite her grin. "Nyaaa~ bold words, my little Hero. You sure you can handle all of us?"

Frostina tried to stay composed, but even her serene expression cracked with a small blush. "Such… straightforwardness. It's admirable, yet… flustering."

Foiletta covered her face with her hands. "A-ah… I'm not ready for that kind of sweetness this early in the morning…"

Serafall froze mid-sob, her tears halting like a cartoon switch was flipped. "W-wait… did my cute Nate-kun just propose to his entire harem at once!?"

Nate, realizing what he just said, buried his face in his hands. "I—I meant eventually! Like… someday! Not—uh—right now!"

Whisper floated beside him dramatically. "Master Nate, that is what we call an accidental mass proposal! I recommend running while you still can!"

Jibanyan snickered through his donut. "Nyahaha~ too late! You just triggered a route merge, Nate!"

The girls all tried to look away, but the blushes on their faces told the full story.

Even through the embarrassment, Kunou muttered quietly, "He didn't even hesitate…"

And Kuroka whispered, a playful but fond smile on her lips, "Nya~ He really means it…"

Aaron just laughed as he spoke. "Are you sure you can handle this, son?"

Nate looked at his dad. he spoke, he decided not to run, not to be a sense Harem MC. "I already handled this harem chaos, and they are all still my girlfriend, wife is just that, but more official. I can handle if I can't, I can't be a real Yokai King like they said in the prophecy".

Aaron's laughter boomed through the room, proud and amused. "That's my boy! Already talking like a king!" He wiped a tear from his eye. "Guess the prophecy wasn't joking when it said the Yokai King would be surrounded by powerful women—and somehow survive it."

Serafall leaned back in her chair, grinning despite the blush still on her face. "Oooooh~ Nate-kun's already on that 'future husband' mindset! That's so mature and cute!"

Kunou puffed her cheeks, looking away with a huff, though her tails swayed happily. "M-maybe he really is a king after all…"

Kuroka smirked, tilting her head playfully. "Nya~ then as your loyal cat, I guess I'll have to start calling you my lord husband now, hmm?"

Hailey hid her face behind her hands. "Kurokaaa, don't say stuff like that so casually!"

Frostina looked thoughtful, her tone soft but proud. "It is rare to see one so young speak with such resolve. If that is your heart's conviction, Nate… then I shall watch closely to see how far it carries you."

Foiletta, meanwhile, just mumbled, her face bright red. "He… he really means it… he's not joking…"

Aaron chuckled again, crossing his arms. "Well, son, you've got guts. Most men would faint just standing in front of that much power—and you're talking about marriage."

Nate smiled faintly, taking a sip of his tea to calm himself. "Yeah… maybe it's crazy. But if I'm gonna be the Yokai King, I can't just talk big—I gotta stand by my words. They're all important to me. I won't let that change."

Everyone fell silent for a moment—not out of shock this time, but because they could all feel the sincerity in his voice.

Then Whisper, unable to help himself, clapped his ghostly hands together dramatically. "Such a declaration! Truly, the path of the Yokai King is paved not just with battles, but with romance!"

Aaron burst out laughing again. "Romance, chaos, and maybe a few fatherly headaches along the way!"

Nate rolled his eyes but smiled. "Guess that's just part of being me."

Nate stood, finishing the last sip of his tea before setting the cup down with a small clink.

"Alright, that's enough chaos for one morning," he said with a sigh, though there was a faint grin tugging at his lips. "Let's head to the Frost Realm and get Frostina her Glacial Clip."

The group started to stir, everyone getting ready—until Nate glanced over to Serafall.

"You coming, Water Fairy?" he asked with a teasing smirk.

Serafall blinked, her twin tails bouncing slightly before she dramatically pointed at herself. "Me? Water Fairy?!" she gasped, pretending to be offended, then broke into a mischievous grin. "Hmph! Magical Girl Levi-tan is much more powerful than a water fairy, Nate-kun!"

Before he could reply, she cheerfully looped her arm around his right arm, pressing close.

"But since my cute future husband asked so nicely, Magical Girl Levi-chan will join your noble quest~!"

Nate sighed in mild defeat, feeling everyone's stares on him. "You just wanted an excuse to tag along, didn't you?"

Serafall winked. "Maybe~ But also, the Frost Realm is super pretty, and I wanna see what kind of cute ice outfits I can make for everyone!"

Kuroka grinned slyly. "Nyaha~ more like she wants to see how Nate handles the cold, nya. Maybe we'll get to see him all flustered again."

Hailey giggled, hiding her mouth behind her hand. "You guys really don't let him rest, huh?"

Frostina stood gracefully, her icy aura gently swirling. "If everyone is done teasing Nate… we should go. The Glacial Clip awaits, and the Frost Realm is not known for patience."

Foiletta nodded, holding her spellbook close. "Right… if we wait too long, the portal to that region might shift again."

Nate looked around at the group—a mix of yokai, devils, and pure chaos—and rubbed the back of his neck.

"Alright, everyone ready?"

Jibanyan pumped his paw. "Let's go, Nya! I'm totally ready for an ice adventure!"

Whisper floated dramatically beside him. "I, the ever-loyal but totally underappreciated butler spirit, am also ready to face the chill of destiny!"

Aaron chuckled from behind. "Just try not to start a snowball war before the mission starts."

Nate gave him a look. "No promises."

A shimmering blue portal began to form behind Frostina, cold mist spilling into the room as crystalline snowflakes danced through the air. Her voice echoed softly, melodic like chimes.

"The Frost Realm awaits us. Beyond this gate lies the Hall of Eternal Winter—where my Glacial Clip is sealed."

Serafall adjusted her scarf and smiled. "Sounds like fun~! Lead the way, Frostina-chan!"

Nate took a deep breath, stepped toward the glowing gate, and muttered, "Another day, another adventure."

As they entered, the light engulfed them—

—and the warmth of the living room was replaced by an expanse of glittering ice and endless pale-blue skies.

The Frost Realm had awakened.
