"You..." Chris was admiring Morin's skills when he felt like he was forgetting something. "I almost let you fool me!" Chris slapped his forehead.
"You said you were going to arrest two people earlier.
Who are they?"
"I'm warning you, don't do something like this again, it'll make things difficult for me!"
"Don't worry, when have I ever done anything without a
plan? I won't cause you any trouble!" Morin waved his hand.
"I need to go to Wisconsin. This time I'm only arresting two ordinary people."
"Ordinary people?" Chris was confused. "If they're just ordinary people, do you need to tell me about it?"
"They are ordinary people, but the person they're close to isn't," Morin said.
"Their son is the CIA agent I'm working with. The CIA will find out that the list was stolen very soon. The intelligence is so sensitive that I believe the CIA won't hesitate to use extreme measures."
"So, you plan to arrest his parents ahead of time to protect them?" Chris immediately understood what Morin meant and nodded his head.
"Go for it!"
"I like your straightforwardness, Director," Morin smiled.
"I'll teach you how to drive when I get back!"
"F***, can you not say it in such a disgusting way? Also, that 'when I get back'... Don't you always say that's like 'planting a flag' and that something bad will happen?"
Chris asked.
"Ah, you're right," Morin said as he walked out. "But for me, that rule doesn't apply."
"Why?"
"Because I'm strong enough, and I'm solid enough!"
...
In Wisconsin, at a clothing factory.
The Hunt family, Ethan's parents, stared in terror at the team of agents who had just burst in.
"What... what do you want?" Clough Hunt asked, mustering his courage.
The lead agent didn't answer Clough's question. He just took out a photo and compared it.
An agent next to him asked, "Are you sure?"
"I'm sure. It's an exact match."
The lead agent handed him the photo, then said to Clough, "Clough Hunt, Maggie Hunt, you two are being accused of being the ringleaders of an international drug trafficking syndicate. The CIA is here to arrest you. You have the right to remain silent, but everything you say..."
"Hold on!"
"Put down your guns!"
"Which department are you from?"
Just then, a commotion came from outside the factory.
The lead agent stopped speaking. He frowned and looked at an agent who had just run in from the door.
"What's going on?"
"The IRS..." the agent answered. "The IRS is here!"
"What?" The lead agent was stunned.
Before he could figure out why the IRS was here, the factory gate was rammed open, and a team of fully-armed agents in uniforms with the "IRS" logo burst in in a tactical formation.
"Who's in charge here?" Morin, the team leader, asked.
"I'm a CIA Level 3 agent, Steve Ross," Steve frowned and replied. "Who are you?"
"I'm a Level 4 agent from the IRS armed division, Worsley Baba." Morin took out his newly-made badge.
"You're from the CIA? Where's your badge? What are you doing here?"
To leave no trace behind, Morin was wearing a realistic human-skin mask, using this new badge, and had even altered his voice.
This way, even if the CIA tried to investigate afterward, they would find nothing, and he would have no worries!
This also meant Morin could do whatever he wanted!
"You have no right to ask me that," Steve replied. He had looked at Morin's badge and saw that it was real. So he also took out his badge, his tone a little more gentle.
"This is classified."
But he clearly didn't realize how much power an IRS agent had.
And he also didn't know that if he were to rank them, the so-called Level 4 agent Worsley Baba in front of him was probably the most difficult person in the entire IRS to offend.
No one else even came close!
"Listen, boy, I'm asking you a question, and I'm being very serious, and I'm controlling my temper. It's a friendly and kind inquiry."
Morin took a step forward, putting his gun to Steve's chest and said seriously.
"I'm the IRS, and I'm here to arrest someone, understand?"
Morin pointed to the bewildered Hunt couple.
"Tell me your mission, unless you want to be killed for obstructing an official investigation!"
Steve was a little panicked. He had never expected Morin to be so aggressive and direct.
Because of Morin's aggressive move, both the IRS and CIA agents froze for a second before pointing their guns at each other, and the atmosphere became tense.
"Our mission is to arrest the Hunt couple, because according to reliable intelligence, they might be the ringleaders of an international drug trafficking syndicate," Steve quickly explained.
The so-called secrecy was completely useless at this point. Faced with the possibility of a gunfight, Steve would rather talk things out! The IRS had already told them their purpose, hadn't they?
Steve thought, subconsciously throwing away any
possibility of "backing down."
"Oh, I see," Morin nodded, putting down his gun and softening his expression. "You should have said so earlier.
All right, you can leave now!"
"Okay... hey, wait, leave?" Steve, relieved, instinctively agreed, then realized something wasn't right.
Why should he leave? Wasn't he here to make an arrest?
"What else would you do?" Morin asked.
"These people are being arrested by the IRS. We've been watching them for a year. They're definitely not the leaders of a drug syndicate. Your intelligence is wrong!"
"And even if your intelligence isn't wrong, as a so-called CIA agent, you think you have the power to take these two tax evaders we've been investigating for so long from the hands of the IRS?"
Morin's words left Steve a little stunned.
"Tax evaders?" Steve repeated in confusion.
"Yes, they're suspected of tax evasion, and it's very serious," Morin said, motioning for one of his men to bring over the "evidence file" that was prepared long ago and showed it to Steve.
"So, I'm certain that your intelligence is wrong," Morin said.
"Do you have any proof that this couple is the leader of a drug syndicate?"
"I..." Steve was speechless. Steve was just an agent sent to make an arrest, not a leader. How could he have the evidence?
"Since you don't have any evidence, I'm taking them!"
Morin waved to his men to take the couple away.
"Also, with all due respect, your CIA intelligence agency
needs to be retrained. How can you mistake two ordinary factory owners for drug kingpins? This is just
ridiculous!"
He not only took the people away in front of them but also mocked them. Morin was being completely unreasonable this time.
