Chapter 60 - Chapter 60: The Odd and Even Rule

"Hello," Wesley greeted him. "You are"

"I am your father's guide, a Templar of the Templar Order, Morin," Morin said.

"Wesley, are you interested in passing the torch?"

"Huh?" Wesley was taken aback.

"Let's talk about that later," Carlos had a dark expression

on his face, a little unhappy with Morin's impromptu improvisation that wasn't in the plan.

"We need to get out of here first."

My son just entered this world!

Can't you give him a little more time to adjust and then let him make his own decision"

As Carlos thought, he felt a little guilty.

Because he knew that he was only able to learn the truth about the Assassin's Guild and successfully reunite with Wesley thanks to Morin's help.

And, as things stood, Wesley joining the Templar Order seemed to be the best choice.

But

Maybe this was a father's instinct. Although Carlos knew this was irreversible and that he was completely in the wrong, he couldn't be completely rational. He was bound to favor his son, Wesley.

"You're right," Morin nodded. "Let's get out of here first.

We can talk in detail once we get to the safehouse."

So, Carlos quickly grabbed the things he had packed, and the three of them left the area. Wesley didn't have any objections.

He knew that he probably wouldn't be able to return for a long time.

But, when he thought about it, what did he need to bring? What was worth remembering?

A bank card with barely any savings?

Some clothes that he had worn for years and washed over and over again?

A girlfriend who was sleeping with his "best friend"?

A terrible, soul-crushing job with a ridiculously low salary?

A fat boss who was always giving him a hard time?

In short, all of these things just flashed through Wesley's mind and were immediately discarded.

Looking back at his twenty-plus years of life, Wesley had almost nothing valuable or worth taking.

However, in one night, he had gained many valuable things.

A dreamlike experience. His first time being kidnapped.

His first time witnessing a life-and-death gunfight.

A father who had been watching out for him, albeit in a way he didn't like.

A miraculous bloodline that allowed him to see the trajectory of bullets and react to them" though he had previously believed it was an anxiety disorder and had been taking medication to suppress it.

A mysterious organization called the Templar Order, and a group of enemies from an organization called the Fraternity of Assassins.

All of this made Wesley feel a sense of novelty, surprise, and shock.

Overnight, he had abandoned his past and was stepping into a new, completely different, exciting, and wonderful life!

"So, our enemies are those assassins?" Wesley asked curiously.

He was full of energy now.

Morin glanced at Carlos, whose face was a little dark, then chuckled and said to Wesley, "Yes."

They were in a car now, and the driver" was Carlos.

Morin had wanted to drive, but Carlos had flat-out refused.

Before, when Morin had flown in from the New York Continental Hotel, Carlos had gone to pick him up.

Then, Morin saw that Carlos's car looked pretty good.

So, feeling a little eager to drive, he showed Carlos a "magic trick" of "producing a key out of thin air."

While Carlos was dumbfounded and completely confused, Morin dragged him into the passenger seat and then took him on a "comfortable city tour."

After that"

Carlos even had to activate his assassin bloodline just to barely suppress his dizziness and urge to vomit.

Since then, Carlos had firmly decided on one thing: he would absolutely, under no circumstances, let Morin drive while he was in the car!

Carlos seriously suspected that if it were a classic car, Morin's driving style would have probably caused it to break down on the road!

"But" Wesley looked at Carlos. "Um My Father, isn't he an assassin?"

The word "father" was a little difficult for Wesley to say, but he said it anyway.

Carlos's hand trembled slightly, causing the car to shake.

Wesley had called him that when Carlos had rescued him, too.

But for Carlos, who had watched Wesley grow up for many years and had never heard him say it before today, once was not enough.

"How about I drive?" Morin sensed the change and said that he was very worried about Carlos's driving skills

and wanted to show him his skills as a racing god.

"I'd rather die, or die outside, or jump out of the car, than ever get in a car that you're driving again!" Carlos said seriously.

Hearing that, Morin took a sharp breath.

"Even odd?" Morin tried asking in Chinese.

The car fell silent. Wesley and Carlos looked at him,

completely confused.

Their puzzled expressions made Morin sigh with relief.

"It's nothing. It's just a special code word. You don't have

to worry about it."

"A code word?" Wesley asked curiously. "What's it for?"

"It's a code word for another organization. Remember, you must never use it," Morin said, sounding serious and solemn.

"If a person who isn't in the organization uses this code word, they will lose everything. If it's serious, they will be completely annihilated!"

"What kind of organization is that, to be so terrifying?" Wesley shrank his neck.

"Well, that's a long story," Morin said with emotion.

"They're all a bunch of poor people who can't find their way home"

"Could you stop talking nonsense?" Carlos said, a little

helpless. He really couldn't stand Morin treating his son like an idiot" at least that's what he thought.

"Alright, the topic has drifted. Let's get back to what we were talking about before," Morin didn't insist. He was just joking around.

"Your father, Carlos, was a Master Assassin of the Fraternity of Assassins. But because the leader of the Fraternity of Assassins had a problem, he decided to defect."

Carlos: """

Can't you use better words?!

"Ahem!" Carlos decided to try and salvage his image. He cleared his throat and said, "It wasn't defection. It's that the Fraternity of Assassins has strayed from its original principles. They are no longer fighting for fate, but for profit. So, I have no desire to be associated with them!"

Wesley was silent for a while.

"Doesn't that just mean you defected?"
