Chapter 62 - Chapter 62: Young Man, You Should Reflect on Your Actions

After Morin left, Carlos looked at Wesley, who had been staring at him, and felt a little helpless.

"If you have any questions, just ask."

"I just feel like it's all very unreliable," Wesley thought for a moment, then spoke.

"Why do you think it's unreliable?" Carlos picked up a gun from the table and began to check it, asking as he did so.

"Is it because you think what we're about to do is impossible, or because what we're doing now is too different from what you imagined?"

"A little bit of both," Wesley nodded hesitantly.

"As for what we're about to do, I wouldn't have brought you into this if I wasn't confident," Carlos said.

"You think it's impossible, but in reality" the Fraternity of Assassins only has less than a hundred people now.

Wesley: "???"

So how did two thousand-year-old organizations end up in this state?

Probably sensing Wesley's confusion, Carlos explained, "Do you still remember what I said in the car about the Fraternity of Assassins's principles?"

"Freedom, fate, and" kill one to save thousands?" Wesley recalled.

"Yes. So you should understand how difficult it is to stick to those beliefs," Carlos said.

"Over the years, even though they won the war against

the Templars, the assassins themselves suffered heavy losses."

"Without enemies, there is no struggle, so new blood will gradually decrease."

"However, that doesn't mean our task is easy," Carlos

said.

"With less than a hundred people, the Fraternity of Assassins is still one of the few organizations in the

world that you shouldn't mess with."

"Because every assassin has powerful fighting abilities and an assassin bloodline like ours. The only difference is the amount of time they can activate it and the effects of the boost."

"So, the task is not impossible, but it's not easy either.

And we can also recruit some people who still believe in the assassin's creed. All of this will take time."

Carlos put the gun back on the table and said, "As for what we're doing now"

"I can probably guess what you're thinking. Maybe you think the world of killers should be like in the movies: open and above board, with fancy cars, beautiful women, and suits and sunglasses" Then, you kill people with a smile and leave as if nothing happened?"

Carlos shook his head. "Most people like that are idiots, Wesley. They won't live to see the next day."

"Besides the majority of idiots, there are a few people who can actually reach that level. But they are few and far between. Even I wouldn't dare to do that."

"Remember, everything you want must be earned through hard work. This is another reason I didn't want to bring you into this world, because you have to put in ten, even a hundred, times the effort of an ordinary person, and you have to risk your life to finally become that one-in-a-million Master Assassin."

"Your talent is very strong, Wesley, but talent alone is not nearly enough. You still need to work hard and train to reach the level you imagine."

"Even you can't?" Wesley asked, surprised. In his mind, Carlos's strength was already very high.

"I can't. Otherwise, I wouldn't be in this state now," Carlos shook his head decisively.

If he could have reached that level, why would he be so worried about Wesley's safety that he wouldn't dare to see him?

"Then what about Mr. Morin?" Wesley asked.

"He"

Carlos recalled the scene where Morin dodged his bullet from a few meters away, and at a speed that even he, with his assassin bloodline activated, couldn't see, he took the gun from his hand and moved behind him"

"He is one of the few."

Late at night.

Inside a villa.

"Thump!"

"Bang!"

A light click and an undisguised gunshot broke the

silence.

"Who are you? Why are you stopping me?"

"Fox" Fox was on guard, asking the man who had shot down her bullet and stopped her from killing her target.

"I'm very sorry, but "Fox" Fox, this man is my target," Morin said, smiling. He glanced at the man who had been awakened from his sleep and was now trembling, then punched him unconscious to prevent him from getting in the way.

"You're not an assassin," Fox said, frowning. "I've never seen you before."

"An assassin?" Morin shook the handgun in his hand, signaling that they should not make a move for now, then sat down on a chair nearby.

"Are you talking about that organization that claims to kill one to save thousands," the Fraternity of Assassins?

Why would you think that?"

On the list Carlos had given Morin, there were not only a list of recent targets the assassins had killed but also some that they were about to kill.

And on this list, Morin found Fox's upcoming target. So he came here and intercepted Fox at the same time she was about to make her move.

"Only someone with the strongest assassin bloodline can do what you just did," Fox didn't put her gun away. She knew exactly what Morin had just done meant.

"You're not an assassin, so who exactly are you?"

"Me? I'm just a killer," Morin said. "The person you were trying to kill this time was actually my target"

"A killer?" Fox immediately sneered.

"You seem to look down on killers," Morin smiled and asked, "Why is that, Miss Fox? Aren't you and I the same?"

"Assassins and killers are not the same. You are doing it

for money, and I am doing it for my faith, to save the world," Fox said with disdain.

"This pharmaceutical company CEO is monopolizing drugs and raising the price to a level that ordinary people can't afford. So, the Loom of Fate guided me. I am doing a good deed by killing him."

"And why are you here to kill him? For his bounty?" Fox retorted.

"Take his head and go, killer. For your pathetic bounty. All I need is for him to die."

With that, Fox slowly backed away, preparing to leave.

"I have to say, Miss Fox, I deeply respect your faith and persistence," Morin took some documents out from the lining of his clothes.

"However, sometimes, the wrong target can lead you to do the wrong thing."

"What do you mean?" Fox asked. "My target is wrong?

He's innocent? That's impossible!"

"If you are so sure, then I have some documents here that

you might want to take a look at," Morin held up the documents in his hand.

"Your investigation into him didn't have any problems, but you only saw the first layer, Miss Fox. Perhaps you should look at the layers beneath and see what kind of truth they are hiding!"
