------------

"For thousands of years, I thought this title had perhaps been forgotten by assassins."

"Without our check on your power, you've destroyed order and created a set of dark laws."

"But, when darkness covers the land, Templars will protect the last glimmer of light, guarding the final vestiges of order, and ultimately, allowing the light to once again blanket the world."

"We've failed before, but this time, we will never lose again."

"Tell all the killers, all the assassins, Sloan. Tell them whether they're killers who have completely abandoned the Creed, or assassins who still steadfastly follow the guidance of so-called 'Fate'."

"The Templars have returned."

Without waiting for the shocked and speechless Sloan to react, Morin hung up the phone.

"Phew" Morin exhaled, feeling his face slightly warm up.

"Not bad, not bad. I think I did pretty well this time. I even got through such a chuunibyou-style speech. Next time will be even better!"

Morin was now seizing every opportunity to push the limits of his own cringeworthy embarrassment, preparing for what was to come.

"Finally, it's done" Morin looked left and right, confirmed that no one was left alive, and then, with a flash, opened the office door and left the way he came.

Morin didn't have any credentials for this company, but with his physical fitness and his [Beginner Stealth Skills], he could move in and out of this poorly guarded pharmaceutical company like a ghost, as if it were a no-man's-land.

How could a dignified Templar, a sworn enemy of the assassins, not know how to be stealthy? It just wouldn't make sense!

If you master it well, it's all perfectly normal!

"Speaking of which, the Continental Hotel the High Table they actually split off from the Fraternity of Assassins?" Morin pondered.

"This just got a lot more interesting"

...

On the other side, it took a while for Sloan to come to his senses. He redialed the number, but all he heard was a "phone is powered off" message.

"Templars" Sloan's expression was grave.

As the leader of the Brotherhood, he was naturally aware of the Templars' existence.

However, according to the records, the Templars were supposed to have been completely defeated and wiped out by the Fraternity of Assassins many years ago!

Could it be that for all these years, the Templars were never truly eradicated?

Instead, they barely survived, slowly grew, and waited until now, when they felt they had a fighting chance, to come knocking?

The more Sloan thought about it, the heavier his heart became.

But when he instinctively reached for his phone and

scrolled to the number for the head of the High Table, he stopped.

"Not yet I can't do that yet. There's no concrete evidence. Going directly to him like this would be too embarrassing."

Sloan thought to himself, "I should first investigate what's going on. Once I'm sure, then I'll contact him"

Sloan knew that his status was roughly equal to that of the High Table's "Elder," but in reality, his strength was far inferior.

After the Fraternity of Assassins successfully defeated the Templars and took over all their assets, a schism was an inevitable result of the financial spoils.

Some assassins remained loyal to the Creed, while others

began to secretly accept bounties for money, seeking greater profit.

This was a very normal thing. There are many people in the world who have faith, but very few who can remain steadfast in a belief or creed when tempted by a comfortable life and material gain.

The vast majority only talk the talk.

Thus, assassins gradually split into two factions.

Because of their intimate knowledge of each other, the assassins knew that the Brotherhood could not withstand another war, or it might lead to a third party profiting from their conflict.

The Fraternity of Assassins peacefully evolved and split, giving rise to an organization called the "High Table," which meant "above everything."

In the many years that followed, the Creed-loyal Fraternity of Assassins naturally became weaker.

On the other hand, the High Table, which had completely abandoned its faith and become a pure killer organization, flourished.

It gradually became the absolute power of the underground world, so much so that even when it openly established Continental Hotels in major cities, the police didn't dare to intervene!

Killers became a feared term, and even when they committed murder on the street, no one dared to do anything about it!

And the true assassins could only watch their influence slowly wane.

Sloan's forging of the Loom's commands was for two reasons: one, for money, and two, for status.

He knew that if things continued this way, even if his name still held weight, his power would only decline until one day it was consumed by others!

"Right now," Sloan shook his head. Things had to be done one step at a time. He checked his phonebook and found Fox's number.

"Let me first figure out what's going on"

"Ring ring!"

Fox looked at her phone, and a hint of hesitation flashed in her eyes.

She knew that if she answered this call, she would likely

be unable to resist asking the question and getting the answer she already knew but didn't want to accept.

The information Morin provided was too detailed and realistic.

Fox couldn't find a single flaw.

Furthermore, Carlos had produced the piece of cloth with Sloan's name-cipher on it With that evidence from the Loom, Fox had no choice but to believe it all.

"Sloan?" Fox answered the phone and asked.

An Assassin Master had a status just slightly below the leader within the Brotherhood, so Fox could call him by his name.

"Fox." Sloan frowned. Fox wasn't an actress, and she had no intention of acting, so he could clearly hear the coldness and distance in her tone.

"Did something go wrong with last night's mission?"

"Yes."

"What happened? Why did the person designated by Fate escape from you?"

"Because someone stopped me."

"Who?"

"I don't know who he is, but he called himself a Templar."

"What?" Fox's words made Sloan's eyes widen.

"It seems you know, Sloan," Fox asked. "Then, can you please tell me if the things he said, everything he said about the Brotherhood and the Templar Order, is it all true?"

"We must obey the guidance of Fate," Sloan said gravely.

"There is no right or wrong, only faith endures. Back then, the name of a Templar Elder appeared on the Loom of Fate, so we had no choice!"

"I'm not talking about that," Fox said coldly. "I'll come back and ask you in person, Sloan. Our ancestors' actions cannot be investigated, but if you have betrayed Fate, then I will correct your mistake!"

"I will send you to meet your fate!"
