"You've come so fast, huh?" Repairman was leisurely wrapping bandages around his fists.
"Are you that eager to embrace the Temple Knights, Fox, Carlos?"
"You know a lot," Carlos didn't rush to fight. "Then do you know the reason for all of this?"
"I know very well," Repairman finished wrapping his bandages.
"But I have no choice, because my name also appeared on the Loom. Whether it's true or false, I no longer want to fight for fate."
"Do you remember where my name came from, Carlos?"
Repairman asked.
"I remember. 'Repairing' those who don't behave," Carlos replied.
"Then I guess you must also remember how I 'repaired' you back then. I had a part in you becoming an Assassin Master," a mocking smile appeared on Repairman's face.
"Are you referring to the second time I pressed you to the ground and beat you into the repair room?" Carlos's words left Repairman's smile frozen.
"Regardless, let's see if you've made any progress over the years." Repairman bumped his fists together, eager to fight.
He knew he couldn't possibly win against Carlos, Fox, and the others' combined gunfire.
So, he wanted to use his most proficient weapon, his fists, to force Carlos into a one-on-one, true-man showdown.
"Alright then." Carlos wasn't intimidated at all. He put away his gun and prepared to step forward.
Wesley took a step, intending to stop Carlos and fight in his father's place
"Bang!"
A gunshot. A bullet hit him right between the eyebrows.
"Sir, the times have changed." Morin walked past the others, ignoring the corpse of Repairman, who had died with his eyes wide open, and started walking up the
stairs.
"What, are you going to stand there all day?" Morin said without looking back. "Sloan is a person, not a plant.
What if he ran away when things turned against him?"
...
"Uh... would you believe me if I said I was just kidding?"
Morin looked at the entrance to the secret passage they had found, a bit speechless.
He had spoken it into existence.
They had taken care of all the assassins who refused to surrender Butcher, Gunsmith... but in the end, they discovered that Sloan had run away, just as Morin had said.
"He ran away," Fox said, walking in from outside. "It was through this secret passage that leads to the East River.
There must have been a boat or some other vehicle ready for him."
"He's just a lone wolf now; he can't cause much trouble," Morin said. "At most, he'll inform the High Table about this... well, it's about time anyway. It doesn't make much of a difference. Where is the Loom of Fate?"
He had been curious about the so-called Loom of Fate for a long time.
...
"You're saying that last time, this thing just started moving on its own and wove a cloth?"
In the room with the Loom, Morin examined the Loom of Fate, feeling quite curious.
Based on his observations, this Loom was just a normal Loom, with no apparent abnormalities.
"Yes," Carlos said, stroking the threads. "Fate responded to me."
"Is that even possible?" Wick was also curious.
At this point, he had pretty much integrated himself into the small team.
"Anything is possible," Morin nodded. "It could be magic, or it could be something else, I just don't know yet."
"Magic?" x4
Morin's words caused the others' attention to focus on him.
"Yes, magic. Is there anything strange about that?" Morin said matter-of-factly.
"If bullets can curve against the laws of physics, and a Loom can weave on its own, then why can't a keyboard type on its own for the author... no, why can't magic exist?"
"You know magic?" Wesley was a little excited.
"Of course." Morin had originally intended to use magic to stimulate the Loom and see if he could get a special response.
"Watch closely!"
As soon as he finished speaking, Morin entered stealth mode.
"How was that? Did you see it? Stealth magic, an assassin's exclusive skill!"
"That's so cool!" Wesley exclaimed.
Carlos and the others were also in awe.
They saw Morin turn into a humanoid shadow.
"Wait," Wesley said, and amid his awe, he suddenly realized something was not quite right.
"Is that an assassin's stealth magic?" Wesley asked.
"Yes."
"But..." Wesley asked. "Aren't you a..."
"Temple Knight?" Morin said. "Yes, I am a Temple Knight, but who said a Temple Knight can't know a little bit of
an assassin's magic..."
"Click."
The five of them, with their keen senses of hearing, all looked at the Loom at the same time.
The sound became continuous. The bobbin, the shuttle, the roller... all the parts, without any external force, started to move, just like the last time. The Loom began
to work!
"What did you guys just do?" Morin asked.
"Nothing," everyone shook their heads.
"Then it must be..." Morin's mind worked quickly. "Temple Knights?"
When Morin said the word again, everyone clearly noticed that the Loom's working speed increased!
If it weren't for the Loom starting to creak, Morin would have tried a few more times to see how fast it could go before falling apart.
Finally, after a relatively long period, the Loom slowly decelerated and gradually came to a stop.
Fox excitedly pounced on it, grabbed the cloth, and
started decoding it.
"This... this isn't just a name," after a moment, Fox said in shock. "It's a whole paragraph!"
"What does it say?" Morin asked.
"Hold on..." Fox wrote down all the decoded letters in order on a piece of paper and showed it to everyone.
"...Are there no spaces?" Wick asked, looking at the hundreds of letters all run together.
He knew every single letter, but when they were all connected like that, he couldn't make any sense of it!
"Looks like we need to play a different kind of word puzzle," Wesley said, full of confidence. "Leave it to me. When I'm bored..."
"No need." Morin's eyes reflected the hundreds of letters. His brain rapidly divided the letters and, in just a few seconds, he found the most likely way to split them.
"I've got it," Morin took the pen and, with a smooth flow, separated the jumble of letters into a paragraph that could be easily read.
Temple Knight, an ancient term, was lost to the dust of history due to an assassin's temporary greed.
The term 'assassin' still exists, but their name is dead.
They no longer deserve the guidance of fate.
The world has fallen out of balance.
Morin, a guest from beyond, the last Temple Knight, I hope you can bring order back to the world and restore balance.
Each of us gets what we need, that's all.
"This is..." Morin absorbed the massive amount of information in the paragraph, his eyes narrowed.
"This is so interesting."
