------------

It's better to trust yourself than to trust others.

Morin rarely placed his hopes on others, let alone when they were politicians.

Haven't we seen a certain president with the last name "Chuan" flip on promises he made?

From start to finish, Morin never thought of relying on government power. If they helped, great. If not, it wouldn't be a big deal.

As long as they didn't stab him in the back under the High Table's threats, Morin would be grateful.

After Anderson agreed to contact the Secretary of Defense, Morin left the villa, took off the Ethan Hunt mask on his head, and returned to the Original Fraternity of Assassins Headquarters, which was now the Provisional Temple Knights' Outpost.

Since they had already taken the territory, wouldn't it be a waste to just leave?

Conveniently, the Temple Knights didn't have a permanent base yet, and most of the provisional Temple Knights were former assassins. There was also a magical Loom here that might provide more information in the future.

So, Morin and his team took over the place.

Morin also mentioned this to Anderson, who immediately agreed.

He could handle such a small matter.

As soon as Morin returned to the outpost, he noticed that the assassins' gazes at him held a hint of awe.

"Did you spread the word about my identity?" Morin asked Carlos and the others.

"We slightly changed it," Carlos replied. "Besides not revealing that you're a guest from beyond, we basically

said everything else."

"Fate no longer trusts the assassins and has chosen the Temple Knights, placing its hope in you, hoping you can bring order back to the world," Wesley said. "How does that sound?"

"Close enough," Morin nodded. "So, since we now have a base, it's time to rebuild the Temple Knights."

"Are you saying..." Fox asked.

"You're only provisional Temple Knights now," a cross appeared in Morin's hand. "It's time to be officially

promoted and start lighting the flame!"

"Can I ask what you mean by 'lighting the flame'?"

"It means to pass on the flame of civilization and the light of order..."

Morin was already "expert" at saying things that sounded plausible but were actually complete nonsense.

...

"Alright, that's about it," Morin nodded in satisfaction.

"...That's it?" Wick couldn't help but ask.

"What else did you expect?" Morin countered.

"I mean, don't we need a branding or something else?"

Wick's eye twitched.

Just now, Morin had only taken a small notebook, registered everyone's information, and then gave each of them a cross!

The Temple Knights, a powerful organization meant to bring order to the world, and this was their initiation ceremony? That's it? That's it?

"New times, new beginnings. So we're not doing all that flashy stuff!"

"Oh right, I forgot one thing," Morin said, pulling out another piece of paper and handing it to them.

"Pass this around. These are the Temple Knights' tenets. Remember them, and it's best to copy them down. I'll be checking later."

"Okay, okay, don't look at me like that. I know this

initiation ceremony is a bit rushed, but with the organization's current conditions, we can't exactly make it any bigger, can we?"

Seeing Wick and the others staring blankly at him, Morin had to give one of the real reasons. "I promise, after we take down the High Table, I'll give you the most grand ceremony ever!"

As for the second real reason he was hiding... it was the sheer embarrassment!

After numerous attempts, Morin found that his limit for enduring shame was just that.

Since practicing it had no effect and was just a form of torture, Morin decided to not do anything awkward or chuunibyou-like whenever possible.

Therefore, for an initiation ceremony with so few people, the simpler, the better!

"Wick, what did Winston say?" Seeing that they still seemed to be hung up on the matter, Morin quickly changed the subject.

"Winston said he's available to meet and discuss," Wick said. "You set the time. He's always at the New York Continental Hotel."

"Good, then let's do it tomorrow morning," Morin nodded.

"For now, let's start renovating and organizing our first Temple Knights outpost..."

...

The next morning at the New York Continental Hotel.

"Mr. Morin, what can I do for you?" Winston sat on the sofa, looking at Morin.

Wick and Winston were friends. To prevent Winston from having an improper attitude and causing unnecessary trouble, Wick had already told Winston a few things the night he called to confirm the meeting time.

For example, Morin's identity as a Temple Knight and that he was recognized by fate to bring order to the world.

And that they had just taken down the Fraternity of Assassins.

This was why Winston's attitude towards Morin was so serious, and even his form of address was formal.

"I'm sure Wick has told you some things about me, Mr.

Winston."

The fact that Wick gave Winston some information was within Morin's expectations, and Morin didn't care at all.

He said, "So, shall we get straight to the point?"

"Yes," Winston nodded.

"Mr. Winston, how many years have you managed the New York Continental Hotel?"

"Over forty years."

"Then have you ever thought about one day breaking free from the High Table's control, no longer being threatened by others, no longer being their pawn, but being your own master?"

"Are you suggesting?"

"I can give you that opportunity," Morin said, taking a sip of wine. "Did Wick tell you my purpose?"

"Yes," Winston nodded. "At first, I was a little skeptical, but now... I feel like you're not just boasting."

"That's normal. Without proof, there can be no trust," Morin said with a calm smile, not bothered by it. "Now you've seen my strength. If you're willing to join the Temple Knights, I can give you an even higher position."

"What position?"

"After everything is done, I will leave. At that time, you will become the Elder of the Temple Knights. What do you think?"

"That's... a very grand promise," Winston finally replied after a long moment of contemplation. "It feels a little unreal."

"My purpose is only to bring order back to this world.

What happens after that is not in my plans, and I have no desire to manage it. So, I need to find someone who is interested, capable, and trustworthy to prevent it from becoming a new mess."

"You trust me?"

"I trust Wick, and since you're his friend, I think I can trust you. So, what's your answer?"

"This is a very difficult choice to make."

Winston shook his head with a smile. "Someone like me, in my sixties, has usually long since lost all ambition."

"Even if I were to become the Elder of the Temple Knights, how long would I get to sit in that position?"

"But if I remain under the High Table's rule, just like the last forty years, I will stay in this position until I die, waiting for the High Table to send someone to take over what I've built."

"So, even if I don't have much time left, even if the chances of success aren't high, even if I succeed and I'm not guaranteed to get that position..."

"Compared to my current position, which is absolutely impossible to change, having hope is a good choice."

"So I accept."

"Welcome to the Temple Knights, Mr. Winston," Morin said, raising his glass.

Just like the moment he and Wick decided to work together, their glasses clinked, making a crisp sound.

"As a gift," Winston said with a smile. "I have a guest here whom you might be interested in meeting."
