------------

Morin sat at the desk, calmly picking out names from his phone and copying them onto a piece of paper.

"Is this..." Eyre, influenced by Morin's composed demeanor, also calmed down. He looked at the names on the paper and found some to be very familiar. "Is this a list of those people?"

"While assassin information is usually kept confidential, we have people inside the Continental Hotel, so we can get this kind of information," Morin nodded, picking up the paper filled with names.

"These are the names of all the company CEOs who participated in the bounty on you."

When paying the bounty to the Continental Hotel, only a single person's identity was needed. The pharmaceutical company consortium had done just that.

However, for the High Table's intelligence organization, the Eye of the Hawk, this was not a difficult thing to track down.

Especially with a massive bounty like this, it was their job to investigate all the details in order to properly set the price.

Morin simply mentioned it to Winston, and soon, Winston had obtained all the relevant information from the Eye of the Hawk organization and sent it to Morin.

"And now, what I need to do is..." Morin stopped mid-sentence and tilted his head slightly, looking to the side.

From the corner of his eye, he saw a small burst of flame erupt from the roof of a tall building in the distance.

Then, a bullet shot out of the flame, flying towards them at an incredible speed, its target aimed directly at Eyre!

Morin watched the bullet lazily, as if it were moving in slow motion, even having the leisure to calculate its trajectory.

In the end, the bullet, despite its best efforts, only left a small, white indentation on the glass.

"As you instructed, I used the most advanced tempered glass and even added extra thickness."

Eyre saw Morin's reaction, looked over, heard the sound of the impact, and only then did he realize that a new white mark had appeared on the glass.

"The defensive measures I set up for you can only protect you for a while, not forever. It's just a supplementary thing, so don't put too much hope in it."

Morin squinted, seeing the assassin hundreds of meters away switch to a different type of bullet. "For example, if the enemy had used an armor-piercing round from the start, and if I weren't here..."

Before he could finish, in the line of sight of both Eyre and the assassin, Morin's figure flickered, instantly appearing on the other side. At the same time, the sounds of shattering glass and clanging metal echoed through the office!

For Morin, he had simply walked to the path of the bullet and used his high-tech dimensional wrench to knock it out of the air.

It was effortless, just like that.

But for Eyre and the assassin, it was an immense shock!

No human could do something like that!

Not a single thing Morin had just done!

"A standard APFSDS armor-piercing round has a penetration thickness of about 600-700mm at a distance of 2000 meters. Even with extra-thick tempered glass, it's no different from a sheet of paper against a bullet like this."

Morin picked up the deformed bullet he had knocked to the ground, walked to the floor-to-ceiling window, and through the hole in the glass, looked at the assassin on the other side, whose eyes were wide with shock.

With a smile, he raised the bullet in his hand.

The assassin's face changed, and he began to pack up his equipment, preparing to retreat.

He was not taking this mission. Eight million dollarswhoever wanted it could have it; it had nothing to do with him anymore!

The assassin's mind was in a state of chaos.

What in the world was that thing?

How did he suddenly appear from one place to another?

How did he knock his bullet out of the air?

Was he even human?

The assassin was confused, but one thing was very clear to him. It was the experience he had gained over many years as an assassin that had allowed him to survive countless times.

That was: if a task was impossible, run away immediately!

However, this time, he wanted to run, but he could no longer do so.

A bullet, curving around a corner, flew towards him and hit him precisely between the eyebrows.

"I'm truly sorry, but you guys are the best proof... it would be a waste not to use you. After all, we must follow the spirit of 'waste not, want not'..."

Morin nonchalantly said something that could bring a dead person back to life from anger, and he nodded at Carlos in the distance.

Carlos nodded back. Then, he walked to where the assassin was, placed a small cross on the assassin's forehead, and covered the hole.

This was Morin's idea. For their first mission, they needed a bit of a memorable touch and some style.

But the cost was...

Carlos touched the pile of small crosses in his pocket, his eye twitching.

After Morin confirmed that Eyre was the target of the bounty, he contacted Carlos and the others, telling them to bring the assass... the provisional Temple Knights, and prepare for their first operation.

While it was a bit sudden, they were all doing the same thing: killing people. The only difference was that one group was killing to kill, and the other was killing to save.

In a certain sense, Morin was bringing these former assassins back to the path of "killing one to save a thousand."

Hmm... did the assassins' and Temple Knights' tenets get mixed up?

"Alright, as you can see, in a situation like this, you're a sitting duck if you stay here. Of course, I'm confident I can protect you, but that's just treating the symptoms, not the root cause."

Morin looked at Eyre, who was still in shock. "I'm taking you to the Continental Hotel."

"The Continental Hotel... isn't that the assassins' headquarters?" Eyre asked.

"Hardly any assassin would dare to act in the Continental Hotel. You'll be safest there. And we can free up our hands to solve the next problemeliminating the masterminds and those who put up the bounty to maintain order."

Morin turned and walked towards the door. "It's a thirty-minute drive. How does a short, thrilling trip sound?"

"Are we really going to just go out in the open like this?" Eyre asked, hurrying to keep up.

"Of course. What else would we do?" Morin countered.

"I mean..." Eyre was a little confused. "Shouldn't we use some kind of disguise or a more discreet route?"

"Don't worry, Mr. Eyre. Trust the power of the Temple Knights."

Morin observed his surroundings as he spoke. "This is the Temple Knights' debut. Don't worry about a thing."
