------------

It's actually a bit funny to think about...

"Before we start our formal conversation," Morin said, looking at Arthur and asking a serious question, "Mr. Arthur, can I ask you something?"

"...Of course." Arthur was stunned. He couldn't figure out Morin's motives or what he was planning.

In his opinion, while it was strange for an Asian person to become an IRS agent, his subordinates had already checked and verified Morin's credentials and the investigation approval he had, and everything was in order.

Normally, someone who was so well-prepared and aggressive would get straight to the point, but instead... he wanted to ask a question first? What was the question? Arthur was a little curious.

Merritt instantly snapped back from his thoughts and focused, thinking to himself,

Here we go. Morin probably doesn't know who I am and might say something important. I have to listen carefully!

However, to Arthur's curiosity and Merritt's focused attention, Morin's next question left them both stunned.

"Have you ever worked as a butler?" Morin asked seriously.

Arthur: "???"

"...No." After racking his brain to figure out if there was some kind of trap in the question, Arthur replied, looking baffled.

"Oh, so you haven't seen a man who likes to wear black suits and goes out to party every night, right?" Morin said, nodding, his expression still serious.

"No." Arthur was a bit speechless. What kind of a strange question was that?

"In that case, I'm relieved," Morin said, saying something that Arthur and Merritt couldn't understand at all, his expression even showing a hint of disappointment.

Then, Morin immediately changed the subject.

"I'm here to investigate the financial records of all the companies under the Arthur Group. The IRS suspects you've been evading taxes."

Morin's questions weren't random, of course. Arthur, in the Batman Trilogy, played Bruce Wayne's butler, Alfred.

The disappointment was because if this Arthur was Alfred, Morin might have been able to fleece a "money-powered" person. What was even more interesting was that Sloan from the previous world, and Bradley from this world, were Fox, the one who managed Bruce's company in the Batman world!

Come to think of it, this was the ultimate part-time job, showing up in every world, and almost catching up to him!

Morin grumbled inwardly, but his words were sharp and direct. He immediately stated his purpose.

Arthur was shocked. He felt like he had figured out the purpose of Morin's earlier behavior...

He must have been using those strange questions to disrupt his thoughts, and then, at the opportune moment, he would reveal his true purpose, catching him off guard and making him slip up!

Too scary. He's so insidious!

But that's okay, I have a plan! Since you were a jerk first, don't blame me for being a jerk, too! Arthur thought to himself. He turned around and coughed, using the opportunity to give Merritt a look.

Merritt: "..."

Can't we just talk normally? Why do you have to use that terrifying, deadly eye signal? As a man in his seventies or eighties, can you please be more mindful of your image? Even if you don't care, can you at least not let me see it? Also, can you make your eye signal a little more professional? You're not winking; you're just blinking at me!

A seventy- or eighty-year-old man winking!

Fortunately, Merritt was a magician who knew a bit of hypnosis and had strong control over his own mind.

He quickly deleted that image from his head. Otherwise, after suffering such mental pollution, he wasn't sure if he would be able to hold back his vomit.

Everything happened in an instant. After Arthur gave Merritt what he thought was an "eye signal" while coughing, he turned back.

"I'm sorry, Mr. Morin, my throat hasn't been feeling well lately."

"It's alright, I understand. After all, you have one foot in the grave," Morin said with a smile.

"Cough, cough, cough!" Arthur started coughing again, but this time it wasn't fake; he was angry.

Who would have thought Morin could say something like that with a smile on his face? It was truly "smiling on the outside, cursing on the inside!"

"Mr. Morin, you need to show a little respect. Otherwise, I'll have to ask my people to escort you out." Arthur turned around again, coughing, and looked at Merritt, "winking" at him again to act quickly.

"..." This time, Merritt completely ignored Arthur's gaze, successfully avoiding another instance of mental pollution. However, out of curiosity, Merritt subconsciously tried to use a hypnosis spell on Morin.

And then... Merritt was shocked.

In his perception, his hypnosis spell was shattered by a huge force of magic just half a meter away from Morin's body, completely disappearing.

It never reached its target, so it didn't have any effect!

Morin looked up at Merritt, but he didn't care. Compared to him, Merritt's magic was pretty weak.

Morin ignored Merritt, but Merritt's mind was in turmoil. In all his years, he had only met people with strong willpower, or people who also had magic in their bodies that could resist his hypnosis, but he had never met anyone who could emit magic on their own and shatter his hypnosis spell!

And in that brief contact, he had already sensed the overwhelming power of Morin's magic... yes, it was overwhelming.

Under that ocean-like magic, his hypnosis spell was like a small boat, completely crushed and destroyed! Merritt didn't dare to use magic on Morin again.

"Are you that daring?" Morin said, directly confronting him.

When Arthur saw that Morin still didn't give him any respect, he turned around and coughed again to look at Merritt, giving him another "eye signal."

This time, Merritt simply ignored him, staring into space and not looking at Arthur at all. Of course, Merritt wasn't doing it on purpose. It was just that Morin's powerful display had made Merritt worry about their future plans.

With someone like this going after Arthur, what's his purpose, and what kind of impact will it have on our plan?

At the same time, Dylan Rhodes was still at the headquarters, receiving his mission and talking with ICPO agent Alma Dray about the details of the operation.

Dylan Rhodes's assistant, Fuller, came to arrest Daniel and the others first to prevent them from escaping.

"Wait, why are there only three people here?" Fuller asked, looking at Daniel and the others.

"Where's the other one? Where is that bald guy named Merritt? Did he run away early? Don't think you can..."

"He didn't run away," Daniel quickly interrupted. "He's in the conference room next door."

"Conference room?" Fuller was surprised. He waved his hand, signaling his subordinates to follow him with the three people to the conference room. He had his subordinates push the door open, ignoring the guard.

"FBI! OPEN THE DOOR!" Fuller shouted instinctively.

Inside the room, Arthur, Merritt, and Morin all turned to look at him.

"I'm Agent Fuller of the FBI. Merritt McKinney, you're under temporary arrest for robbing a bank. Please come with us!" Fuller first looked at Merritt, then at Arthur.

"And you, Mr. Arthur, as their financial backer, I need you to come with us, too!"

Fuller didn't originally want to say the last part, because he knew that saying it would only result in Arthur's lawyers making the FBI's life a living hell, and they would have to release Arthur in the end anyway.

There was no way they could get Arthur into an interrogation room. But Fuller saw Arthur was right there, so he just said it without thinking...

"That would be great!"

"Hmph, I knew it... wait, what did you say?"

Fuller was in the middle of his sentence when he realized that Arthur's response was completely different from what he had expected, and in fact, it was the opposite. What did he mean, "that would be great"?

Does anyone actually like going to an interrogation room?

Fuller was a little confused. But then, he was overjoyed. No matter what Arthur was planning, as long as he took him back, at least he would get some credit!

See, there's no way Arthur should be going to an interrogation room, but the second I asked, he agreed! He's scared, isn't he? I'm suddenly a big shot! Fuller thought to himself, feeling proud.

However, at that moment, a voice he found a little jarring broke his fantasy.

"I'm sorry, Agent Fuller of the FBI. You can take Merritt with you, but Arthur has to stay."

"Oh?" Fuller said with a sneer. He walked over and looked down at Morin, who was sitting in his chair.

"Kid, do you know who we are? We're the FBI! Got it? If I want to take him, even if... I... Oh, you're a fellow IRS agent. What a rare sight. What brings you here?"

Fuller's arrogant words and arrogant posture immediately softened when Morin took out his badge. He stuttered for a bit, and his tone changed, as he respectfully asked,

"We received some information that there were some irregularities in the financial records of Mr. Arthur's group of companies. It seems to be related to a large-scale tax evasion scheme, so we came to investigate Mr. Arthur."

Morin put his badge away and lightly tapped the table with his finger.

"In that case, I think, based on the principle of first come, first served, and the seriousness of the issue, it would be more appropriate for Mr. Arthur to stay with me, don't you think, Agent Fuller of the FBI?"

"You're right!" Fuller said, nodding seriously. "You're absolutely right!"

Beside them, Merritt and the others' eyes twitched, especially Arthur, who could barely hide his expression.

You changed your tune way too fast! Have a little dignity!

If Fuller knew what they were thinking, he would probably jump up and yell, "What do you mean, dignity? What's more important than money?"

Just then, a voice filled with surprise came from the door of the conference room.

"Morin?"

Morin looked at the door and smiled.

"Daniel, long time no see. You seem to be... well, you're not doing so well?"

Today, to show the power of an IRS agent, Morin decided to become Morin the Troll and roast everyone he saw!
