Charles used himself as both the example and the starting point.
First, he eliminated the correct answer.
If one ignored the essence and only looked at the surface, Morin really did seem to be doing this for money.
But Charles couldn't have known that.
He was already at a disadvantage in this conversation, because he couldn't read Morin's mind.
And with Morin displaying such powerful mental abilities...
Would someone like that really care about money?
Of course not.
Unless he was an idiot.
After eliminating the correct answer, Charles tried to guess again based on that premise.
Naturally, he failed.
There was only one way to guess the correct answer after eliminating it.
He would have to see the answer key.
Charles did have the ability to see the answer key.
But that ability was useless against Morin the teacher.
So he gave up.
Raven gently touched Charles and gave him a look.
Only then did Charles realize he had been so absorbed in his conversation with Morin-both in reality and in the mental world-that he had forgotten to explain anything to Raven.
Charles quickly explained the entire situation to her.
Raven's gaze toward Morin immediately became strange.
A teacher?
In Raven's eyes, Charles was the smartest person she had ever met.
Yet now there was someone who wanted to be Charles's teacher?
And from what he was saying, it sounded like he wanted to teach many mutants, not just Charles.
What an arrogant claim.
"Why don't you ask him what he thinks about your abilities?" Raven thought, her mental connection with Charles still open.
"Don't overthink it. If it's useful, no matter what our relationship with him becomes, we'll gain something. If it's not useful, we'll expose his true colors. Either way, we won't lose."
"That makes sense..." Charles thought.
She was right.
"Thank you."
"Why are you thanking me?" Raven rolled her eyes.
She was currently in her normal human form.
Not stunning, but decent.
Most importantly, she had a great body.
Ding! Charles has sent you a call request.
Morin answered the telepathic call.
"What's the matter?"
"Well, I'd like to try your guidance first, to see if it's really effective," Charles said.
"Can you guide me on how to train and strengthen my ability?"
"Of course," Morin agreed happily.
"If I'm not mistaken, your ability is telepathy, correct?"
"Yes. Just like yours," Charles replied.
"No, we're not the same," Morin said, almost singing.
"I'm not the same kind of person as you. At least, the way I use my abilities is completely different."
"How?" Charles was clearly interested.
"That's not something you need to know," Morin smiled.
He had no obligation to explain that, so he changed the subject.
"Let's talk about your ability. Telepathy... do you know the principle behind it?"
"...A kind of magnetic field? Or energy? Does it act directly on the brain?" Charles listed a few theories he had considered.
He had studied his own abilities.
"I call it mental power," Morin said.
"Your mutated gene gives you powerful mental power, which can radiate outward and control the thoughts-and even memories-of people whose mental power is weaker."
"So, as long as it's energy, it can be blocked," he continued.
"A special magnetic field that shields mental power can prevent you from controlling others, if your mental power isn't strong enough to break through."
"Is that the method you use?" Charles asked.
"No. My mental power is stronger than yours," Morin replied.
Charles: "..."
Stronger than his.
And not a mutant.
Then what exactly was he?
"In short, there are two ways to strengthen your ability," Morin summarized.
"One is through external objects. That's the easiest and most convenient method. Mental power is a kind of energy, a magnetic field. If you find the right way to amplify it, you can maximize your output."
"As for the other way, that's strengthening it from within. Genetic mutation doesn't fully manifest in a short time. In other words, your potential is extremely high, and much of it hasn't been developed yet."
Morin sounded extremely confident.
The external object was Cerebro.
The internal method was potential development.
Since Charles would discover this information sooner or later, Morin had nothing to lose by saying it now.
Using free, soon-to-be-outdated information to gain trust was a total win.
"Can you elaborate?" Charles asked.
"It's simple," Morin said with a faint smile.
He took several certificates from his pocket and handed them to Charles.
"For external assistance, you can build a device similar to radar. It captures your mental power and converts it into a magnetic field that amplifies the mental power you emit."
"Luckily, I'm a physics teacher, a computer science teacher, and a biology teacher. I can teach you everything you need to build it."
Charles held the three certificates.
Then he looked at Morin's pocket.
He stayed silent for a long time.
He didn't usually complain.
But right now...
He really wanted to ask, How many certificates are in that pocket? Why not just take them all out at once?
And...
Are any of these even real?
Also, even if you teach those subjects, the device you're describing is on a completely different level!
What kind of teacher knows how to do all of this?
Please tell me the address.
I want to hire one.
"Your records..." Moira walked over, holding a thick stack of files faxed in by her colleagues.
Her expression was conflicted.
Shock mixed with disbelief.
"All of your teaching certificates are real?"
Charles: "!!!"
"All of them?" Charles asked.
"All of them," Moira replied.
"And that's not all."
She handed the files to Charles.
"He has teaching certificates for every single subject."
"They're just ordinary teaching qualifications," Morin waved his hand modestly.
"I'm only a lecturer, not a professor. There's no need to be so surprised."
At this point, it sounded more like bragging.
"Yeah... if it were just one, it wouldn't matter," Moira said.
"But you have a total of 506 certificates, all for different subjects."
Even she found it unbelievable.
Her reason told her this was impossible.
Reality told her it was true.
"And every single one is real and valid."
"I'm just a bit of an all-rounder," Morin smiled.
"As a teacher, it's normal to know a little of everything, right?"
Bullshit.
Charles, Raven, and Moira all screamed it in their minds.
"Why have I never heard your name before?" Moira asked.
That was the biggest question.
The facts were undeniable.
An official investigation confirmed everything.
Yet someone like Morin...
Even if he were just an "ordinary teacher" in every field, he shouldn't be unknown.
Unless his information had been deliberately hidden.
But then why release it now?
"I've never liked fame," Morin said calmly.
"I only let people I trust know my information, and I make sure they don't leak it."
"Just like you. You can't tell anyone about me without my permission."
"Why are you so confident?" Moira frowned.
"Because I have special abilities too," Morin explained.
"Although the source is different."
He gestured toward Charles and Raven.
"They're the same. The difference is... they're like the people you've already seen."
"I'm sorry for hiding it," Charles said.
Since Morin had already exposed everything, he stopped pretending.
He had planned to reveal his abilities anyway.
And they gave him some confidence.
He looked at Moira.
His voice sounded directly in her mind.
"My ability is to see a person's inner thoughts. I call it telepathy."
"...Then you..." Moira stared at Raven.
Raven didn't hesitate.
Her blue skin rippled, and she transformed into Moira's exact appearance.
Even the clothes matched.
"MY GOD!" Moira covered her mouth.
Only one thought remained in her mind.
What kind of people am I bringing to my boss?
"If I'm not mistaken," Morin said, studying Raven with open curiosity,
"her ability allows her to change her cellular structure for mimicry, letting her become anyone."
"If the difference in body size is too great, it causes excessive cellular restructuring-and extreme pain. Correct?"
"Yes," Raven nodded, surprised.
That was exactly her weakness.
Once, she had turned into an extremely tall and obese man.
She stayed in bed for a full week afterward.
"Speaking of which, there's something I'm curious about," Morin said.
"May I ask?"
"...Please?" Raven blinked.
Morin paused briefly.
Then he sent a telepathic message.
A moment later-
Raven reverted to her original form.
Her face instantly turned red.
"I apologize," Morin said politely.
"I was just curious. If I caused any trouble, I'm sorry."
Charles: "???"
What did you just do to my sister?!
"Oh, and one more thing," Morin said, turning to Moira.
"I don't think your plan will necessarily succeed. You should prepare in advance. Not everyone can accept mutants."
The topic shift was abrupt.
He didn't even try to hide it.
Charles took a deep breath and looked at Raven.
Fortunately, their relationship didn't require discretion.
Raven nodded.
With her permission, Charles entered her mind and learned what he wanted to know.
"But that person is involved in military secrets," Moira said, unaware of their mental exchange.
"I have to get the director's help to stop them!"
"You've already seen their abilities," Morin said, shaking his head.
"I'm just offering a reminder. What you do with it is up to you."
"I'm only here to watch."
Of course, Morin had no intention of getting involved.
That would ruin the fun.
And as a teacher, how could he personally go beat people up?
Wouldn't that be abusing his power?
His students-
His future students-
Would be more than enough.
Yes.
Absolutely.
He was definitely doing this to make Charles and Erik willing to become his students.
Not forcing them.
The rest of the story unfolded exactly like the movie.
Morin stayed an observer and never intervened.
He simply turned invisible and maintained a telepathic conversation with Charles.
In reality, no one could see him.
Events progressed as expected.
Moira brought Charles to CIA headquarters to meet the director.
Charles tried to persuade him with knowledge.
It failed.
Realizing words were useless, Charles revealed his ability.
He exposed the director's inner thoughts, including missile deployments in Turkey.
The result?
The director suspected him of being a spy.
That changed only when Raven transformed into the director himself.
Perfectly.
The director was stunned.
And terrified.
What if he were killed and replaced?
What then?
In the end, he accepted the existence of mutants.
And reacted exactly as expected.
He ordered the arrest of Charles and Raven.
But a CIA minister-head of a secret research base handling military offense and defense-spoke up.
He took them under his protection.
The director agreed.
Nothing about the outcome was surprising.
Charles saw that everything was unfolding exactly as Morin had predicted.
Without hesitation, he used his ability.
He convinced the unnamed "MANINBLACKSUIT" director-who didn't even have a name in the credits-to help them.
Using his authority, the director mobilized a U.S. Coast Guard warship and soldiers.
Their target was clear.
Sebastian Shaw.
The Black King.
