Chapter 39 - The Importance of Heart

Emiya couldn't stand it. He said, "Megumi is still growing. If you really want to recruit her, you should at least wait until she's a bit more mature, and you're not in a hurry, are you, Loki?"

Loki said, "I'm not in a hurry, but who knows which bastard will get Megumi-chan first?"

She had already seen what happened in the anime and knew that Megumi had a strong affection for Soma Yukihira. It would be too dangerous if she let them continue.

That was why Loki wanted to take Megumi and bring her to the Loki Familia. That way, she could keep her away from that playboy, Soma Yukihira.

This guy was truly the God of Pranks; his schemes were endless.

So Emiya grabbed Loki's collar and dragged her away.

"Let's go, let's go. Let's try some other people's breakfast."

He could see that Loki was here to cause trouble. Because of her, no one dared to approach Megumi's counter.

She was trying to make it so Megumi couldn't complete her two hundred portions and would be expelled from Totsuki.

Then, a homeless Megumi would have no choice but to follow Loki. That guy was truly a God of Pranks; his schemes were endless.

Emiya was able to drag her away because his words had moved Loki a bit, so she didn't resist.

Emiya dragged Loki away from Megumi's counter and went to Takumi Aldini's counter.

Takumi made a salad and frittata with eggs and vegetables, which was healthy and nutritious. Emiya and Loki each took a portion and started eating.

"How is it?" Emiya asked Loki, who seemed to be enjoying it.

"It's all right," Loki said dismissively.

Takumi was stunned. His frittata had sold out many times and received a lot of praise. Loki was the first

person to say it was just "all right."

Takumi couldn't help but ask, "Is there anything I can improve on with my breakfast?"

Loki glanced at Takumi and walked away. She had no interest in an innocent boy like him. The hero of her Familia, Finn, was a handsome boy, a hundred times better than this Takumi.

Takumi's face turned dark. He could tell that Loki was a very important person. A person like her must have had the best food. So, did this mean his breakfast was not even presentable?

Emiya saw Takumi looking a little discouraged and comforted him.

"Don't worry, your breakfast is great. It's just that that woman has eaten too many good things, so your breakfast seems "all right" to her. Actually, you should be proud. Being told that you're just 'all right' by her is a testament to how far you've come. You're much better than a lot of people. Keep it up."

Takumi watched Emiya leave, and a fierce fire ignited in his eyes. This was not the fire of anger but of fighting spirit.

He knew that what Emiya said was not a comfort, but at least it proved that his current level was not enough. He would continue to grow until one day he could cook for that woman again and hear the word "delicious" from her mouth.

So he continued to make breakfast with his head down.

Meanwhile, Emiya had no idea what Takumi was thinking. If he did, he would have said, "This kid is truly a dreamer."

He didn't think anyone in this world could make Loki say "delicious." After looking at the entire Food Wars! world, there was only one person who had that possibility: Erina Nakiri, who possessed the "God's Tongue."

The thing that moved Loki about Megumi's food was not

how delicious it was but the heart she put into it. This was what Loki valued most. After all, she had eaten too many delicious things.

AAfter leaving Takumi's counter, Emiya and Loki went to Erina Nakiri's counter.

Erina made a ham and egg muffin, one of the most classic American breakfasts. But she added some mullet roe powder, which gave it an unforgettable taste.

Emiya ate with gusto, but Loki was calm.

This level of deliciousness could not move her. However,

for Emiya's sake, she gave her some pointers.

"When it comes to food, heart is more important than deliciousness. What moves the soul is not deliciousness but heart. If you don't understand this, you can never

conquer a god, no matter how high you rise in this world.

I suggest you learn from Megumi-chan. That child is someone even I admire."

Erina nodded seriously at this. "I understand, Lord Loki."

"Very good." Loki was satisfied that Erina had listened to her.

She was also looking forward to seeing what kind of dish Erina would make if she combined her skills with "heart."

Humans truly had endless possibilities. This was also one of the main reasons why she liked the children of her Familia.

After saying goodbye to Erina Nakiri, Emiya saw that Soma Yukihira, as the story showed, was in a crisis.

So he and Loki left Venue A and went to the other venues.

There were still a few people's dishes he wanted to try, such as Isami Aldini, Ikumi Mito, Shun Ibusaki, Ryoko Sakaki, Hisako Arato, Alice Nakiri, Miyoko Hojo, Subaru Mimasaka, and Nao Sadatsuka... Well, maybe not her.

To be honest, Emiya didn't know how this dark-looking witch who made stinky dishes could pass the two hundred portion test.

This wasn't a Shokugeki where the judges had to eat and taste the dishes. This was a buffet. Shouldn't everyone stay away from such stinky dishes?

Even if there were a few brave souls, there couldn't be two hundred of them.

However, Emiya's question was soon answered. After entering a certain venue, Emiya smelled a faint odor.

The odor was not strong and was within a person's tolerance level, but it was undeniable that it stirred Emiya's appetite.

Emiya followed the smell and saw Nao Sadatsuka. This very gloomy woman was cooking a pot of soup.

The smell Emiya had just smelled came from this pot.

Emiya realized that Nao had realized her problem.

So she wasn't making a dish with an unbearable smell.

She had changed to one with a milder smell.

That way, many more people would be able to eat it.

But Emiya was still not interested. He could only accept stinky tofu. He couldn't accept any other stinky dishes.

Loki obviously felt the same way as Emiya. She almost ran away after smelling the odor. She had no intention of trying it. There were too many good things to eat, and she didn't need to force herself to eat a stinky dish.

Of course, this was only for those who didn't have a

special interest in it. Emiya and Loki were obviously not those people. So they ignored Nao's dish and quickly left the venue after trying a few random dishes.

Soon, the two arrived at Venue E. There was a woman here that Emiya was very much looking forward to seeing.

She was Erina Nakiri's cousin and a molecular gastronomy expert... Alice Nakiri.

Emiya still remembered how arrogant and cool Alice looked when she first appeared in the manga. He had thought she was a very mysterious woman, but later on, he realized that the mystery and arrogance were just an act.

One moment she was high and mighty, and the next, she was crying and was very cute. Without a doubt, she was a very genuine girl.

So Emiya was looking forward to her cooking, especially since she specialized in molecular gastronomy.

But this was only Emiya's anticipation. When Loki found

out what Emiya was anticipating, she scoffed.

"What's so good about food made with machines?" She liked food that was full of heart.

Food made by machines was cold and unfeeling. To her, it wasn't worth tasting.

Emiya said, "Then just keep me company for a while, Loki."

He knew that if he let her go, she would run back to Venue A and bother Megumi, and then, in her own way, get her expelled from school.

There was no doubt that the God of Pranks could do such a thing.

Loki didn't refuse Emiya's invitation.

They went to Alice Nakiri's counter. Emiya took a dish and ate it with gusto, but Loki just looked around as if she was looking for other dishes.

Just then, Emiya saw Natsume walking over. He pointed to Alice's dish and said, "Don't you want to try some?"

Natsume shook his head. "I'm full. I can't eat anymore."

He then nodded to Loki. "Good morning, Lady Loki."

Loki had a vague impression of Natsume. This human, who had no training, possessed a power that was on par with a First-Class adventurer.

It was very rare. If she hadn't seen that Natsume's personality was not suited for adventuring, she would have already invited him to join her.

"Good morning, I remember your name is Natsume, right?"

Natsume nodded.

"Is that female yokai not with you?"

"Hiiragi is still in my world. She didn't come," Natsume said.

Loki said, "Oh," and lost interest in Natsume. Natsume then said to Emiya, "Mr. Emiya, can you send me back?

It's almost time for me to go to school."
