Taira stepped fully into the ruined doorway, her posture straight, chin lifted just slightly, as if she was still reporting to a commander.
"Old man Gellor would be happy to know you're still alive," she said. Her eyes dragged down Elian's physique, slowly. "You… don't look as pathetic as before. Good. I thought you'd still be all bones."
Elian's hand shot up to the back of his neck on instinct. He stared at the cracked floor, at Deidre pretending not to eavesdrop, literally anything except Taira's face.
"H–hey. Yeah. I… didn't expect to see you here either."

He blinked hard.

"Right, right," he muttered under his breath.
Taira narrowed her eyes slightly. "Where's your sister?"
That name knocked the breath from him for a second. "Ah, I'm currently looking for her."
