Chapter 41 – A New Kingdom
The first rays of dawn spilled across the village clearing, gilding the mist with threads of gold. Where ruins once stood, now a new great hall towered—its living pillars entwined with ancient roots, its roof arched like the canopy of the forest itself. Runes pulsed faintly across the wooden beams, giving the impression that the building itself breathed with life.
Elves filled the space: Forest and Dark alike, their eyes shimmering with expectation. It was a sight that would have seemed impossible mere months ago, when their two clans spat curses and distrust at one another. Today, however, they stood shoulder to shoulder.
At the center of the hall stood Valdyn Thalorian. His golden hair shone beneath the light, his emerald eyes burning with resolve. Sylwen and Nymeris flanked him—his recognized consorts—while behind them, the elders of both clans sat in solemn rows.
The eldest elder, his beard like snow and his voice like rolling thunder, lifted his hands.
"From division, we endured suffering. From unity, we will forge hope. This day, Forest Elf and Dark Elf are no longer separate. This day, we stand as one people."
The hall trembled with cheers, a tide of voices roaring in agreement. But silence returned as the elder raised his hand again.
"From this moment forth, we shall be known as the Kingdom of Alfheim. One crown, one banner, one root of ancestry!"

Every gaze turned toward Valdyn. The hall hushed until only the sound of crackling torches remained.
"Valdyn Thalorian," the elder declared, voice reverberating, "you carry the blood of the Thalorian line, the legacy of our ancestors. By the will of the council and the consent of the people, we proclaim you Emperor of the Elves—Elf Emperor of Alfheim!"
The hall erupted in thunderous cheers. Forest Elves bowed deeply. Dark Elves raised their hands in salute.
Sylwen lowered her head, silver eyes shining with pride. Nymeris's lips curled in a sharp smile, her aura radiating satisfaction. Queen Serenea wept quietly, her hands trembling as she gazed at her son.
Valdyn stepped forward. His voice carried across the hall, steady as steel.
"I do not stand here for personal glory. I stand here because our race was driven to the edge of extinction. Today we are united, but the road ahead is filled with thorns. Enemies surround us, beasts prowl, and the world remembers us only as remnants of the past."
He glanced toward the infants carried by attendants—the heirs of his blood. His gaze softened, but his tone grew harder.
"I swear, for them—for our children—I will raise our people once more to greatness."
The hall shook with chants, voices blending into a roar:
"Valdyn! Valdyn! Emperor of Alfheim!"
