Chapter 5 - Ch.5

"Pidgeot~"

After Ash's shout, a brief silence fell over the forest, followed by a loud cry. Carried on a strong wind, a massive body quickly swooped down towards Ash and Pikachu.

The giant figure landed, knocking Ash and Pikachu to the ground, and its large head immediately burrowed into Ash's chest. It was, of course, the long-unseen Pidgeot. Seeing its trainer had finally come to get it, Pidgeot was overjoyed, affectionately rubbing against both Ash and Pikachu.

"It's been a while, Pidgeot."

He gently stroked Pidgeot's head. Its three different-colored crest feathers were striking, and its milky-white fur was smooth and full of luster. Looking at this familiar Pidgeot, his eyes were full of nostalgia.

Pidgeot was the second Pokémon Ash ever caught, and it had been with the original Ash for a very long time. Unfortunately, circumstances forced him to leave Pidgeot behind to watch over the local flock of Pidgey. The original Ash had promised to come back for Pidgeot, but nearly twenty years passed without him returning.

But now that he had come to this world, the first thing he thought to do was bring Pidgeot back, fulfilling the promise.

"Pika~"

Pikachu also missed Pidgeot very much and climbed onto its shoulder to catch up. After its moment of affection, Pidgeot lifted its head and chatted with Pikachu, one word after another. The new Ash, not knowing the Pokémon language, could only listen.

"Seriously? Didn't they say my soul power would increase after transmigrating? Why didn't I get a psychic ability or something? Even the Aura power Ash has would be fine!"

He stood to the side, grumbling to himself. He hadn't awakened any special abilities after transmigrating, not even his inherent Aura power. If it weren't for the bag system, he wouldn't have felt any different from the original Ash.

[Pokémon: Pidgeot]

[Category: Bird Pokémon]

[Type: Flying, Normal]

[Ability: Keen Eye (The Pokémon's accuracy stat cannot be lowered by others in any way. Ignores the target's evasion stat increases.)]

[IVs: HP (30), Attack (31), Sp. Atk (31), Defense (13), Sp. Def (15), Speed (31)]

[Moves: Sand-Attack, Gust, Quick Attack, Whirlwind, Twister, Feather Dance, Agility, Roost, Tailwind, Wing Attack]

[Strength: Gym Leader Level]

He glanced at Pidgeot's stats and saw that everything was within a reasonable range. While it had only 3 perfect IVs, its most important stats, Speed and Attack, were maximized. Its HP IV was also close to perfect, so it could be considered a Pokémon with almost 4 perfect IVs.

Its rise to Gym Leader Level strength was also very good for a Pidgeot. After all, Pidgeot typically evolves around level 36. Even though Pokémon evolution doesn't always follow this rule in the real world, being at the Gym Leader level meant it was at least level 50 or higher.

"That's right, focus your electrical energy in your tail to form a ball, then release it!"

"Charizard, you do the same. Concentrate the flames in your hand. You can't use Fire Punch otherwise!"

"Pika~" "Roar~"

Both Pokémon nodded in understanding and channeled their energy to the areas Ash mentioned. In a clearing by a river in the forest, Ash was teaching Pikachu and Charizard new moves: Electro Ball and Fire Punch. He had thought that using the TMs he bought from the system for 100 and 75 gold coins would allow them to learn the moves instantly, but it wasn't that simple. The TMs only taught Pikachu and Charizard the technique for using the moves; they didn't learn them instantly. He could only follow the TM's instructions to help them master the moves more quickly.

"Right, this isn't a game after all!"

He shook his head and turned to look at Scyther and Pidgeot. One was a newly caught partner, and the other was an old veteran who had just returned. Both were now top priorities for training. After all, Scyther's evolution, Scizor, and Pidgeot both had Mega Evolution forms and powerful battle capabilities.

Therefore, his main objective for them was to battle wild Pokémon to increase their strength and, more importantly, earn some gold coins. The reason he didn't have them join the move training was that he didn't have enough money. While he could redeem two more TMs, he would be left with only a few hundred gold coins, so it was better to let them battle wild Pokémon instead.

"Ding, you defeated a wild Beedrill, gaining 10 gold coins!"

"Ding, you defeated a wild Beedrill, gaining 15 gold coins!"

"Ding, you defeated a wild Arbok, gaining 50 gold coins!"

...

As Scyther continuously defeated enemies with its scythes and Pidgeot dived to attack the Beedrill on the ground, his ears were filled with the sound of alerts, and the amount of gold coins steadily increased.

"It's a shame these Pokémon aren't very strong. It takes nearly 20 of them to earn the same amount of gold as defeating Scyther."

Looking at the constantly growing amount of gold coins on the screen, he shook his head greedily, still not feeling satisfied.

Just like that, an afternoon passed. Pikachu and Charizard had a basic understanding of Electro Ball and Fire Punch and could successfully use their new moves. This showed just how talented they were. Scyther and Pidgeot also gained a lot. Over the course of the afternoon, many Pokémon fell to them, which was evident from the nearly 1,000 gold coins on the screen.

"Alright, everyone, take a break. It's time to head home!"

Seeing that the day's training was almost done, he quickly called the four Pokémon to a stop. He redeemed some of their corresponding attribute-specific Poké Blocks from the bag system to replenish their energy. After all, they must have been tired from an entire afternoon of hard work.

And they were. The four Pokémon were a bit stunned when they saw the Poké Blocks Ash handed them, as they had rarely seen them before. Pikachu, who had traveled with Ash in Hoenn, knew these were good things and quickly told everyone to start eating.

"Roar~ (Momma, this stuff is delicious!)"

Charizard, who had three Poké Blocks in its mouth, couldn't help but roar, licking its lips before grabbing another one.

"Pika~ (This is a rare treat. I can't believe Ash prepared such good food for us.)"

While responding to Charizard, Pikachu ate its Electric-type Poké Blocks one after another, its eating speed not much slower than Charizard's.

"Scyther~"

The new addition, Scyther, was cooler and didn't join in the conversation between Pikachu and Charizard. It simply used its scythes to pick up a Poké Block, put it in its mouth, and continued this process to replenish its energy.

Pidgeot, on the other hand, had no such reservations. They were all familiar with each other, so it spoke right up, "Ash has changed so much since I've been gone!"

Pidgeot glanced at Ash, who was smiling at it. "He not only asks us to train but also thoughtfully prepares such delicious food for us."

Hearing Pidgeot, Scyther continued to eat calmly, as it was a newcomer and didn't know Ash's original personality. But Pikachu and Charizard looked at each other, realizing that Ash really had changed a lot.

"Who cares? He's changing for the better, anyway!"

Charizard nonchalantly ate a few more Fire-type Poké Blocks. As long as it was Ash, that was enough.

"You're right!" Pikachu agreed, nodding. "Ash is leading us on a path to become stronger. Even if he's changed a bit, it's a good thing!"

"I guess so!"

Pidgeot quickly swallowed a Poké Block. Feeling the energy filling its body, it no longer worried about the matter. The four Pokémon quickly returned to their task of eating.

After finishing the Poké Blocks and resting for a bit, Ash returned Charizard and Scyther to their Poké Balls. Then, with Pikachu on his shoulder, he sat on Pidgeot's back and returned to Pallet Town.

As for the Pidgey and Pidgeotto flock from before, a Pidgeot strong enough to protect them had already been born, so his Pidgeot didn't need to stay behind anymore. Now, Pidgeot was flying at an incredible speed.

Of course, it wasn't flying at Mach 2. That speed would be twice the speed of sound, and even with a transmigrator's body, he couldn't handle it for long. He was also worried about getting airsick. But even at a reduced speed, Pidgeot was still much faster than Charizard. In about 20 minutes, they successfully landed in the backyard of the house.

Ash and Pikachu got off Pidgeot's back. He gave Pidgeot one more energy-boosting Poké Block before returning it to its Poké Ball.

Before long, evening arrived. Since Ash was leaving for the Sinnoh continent the next day, Delia prepared a lavish dinner and even invited Professor Oak and Tracey to join them. Professor Oak, of course, wasn't just there for a free meal; he also reminded Ash to visit Professor Rowan in Sandgem Town, who could be a great help to him.

After dinner, it was soon time for bed. With Delia's reminders, Ash and Pikachu went to sleep, awaiting the next day.

...

The next morning, Ash woke up early. After getting ready and having breakfast with Delia, he put on his new clothes and prepared to leave for Sinnoh.

"Ash, please take care of yourself!" Delia said, looking at her son in his new outfit. Her voice was full of concern and reluctance.

"I will, Mom!" He nodded earnestly in response to Delia's words.

"Pikachu, please take good care of Ash for me!" Delia smiled and then touched the Pikachu on his shoulder, saying jokingly.

"Pika Pika~"

Pikachu puffed out its chest, looking like it would handle everything. Its cute demeanor made Delia laugh, and the sadness of the farewell was slightly washed away.

"Mom, I'm about to leave!"

With everything ready, Ash and Pikachu left, gradually disappearing from Delia's sight.

"Sinnoh region, here I come!"
