Chapter 24 - Ch.24

The largest city in the Sinnoh region, Jubilife City is an important central hub with excellent transportation links. When it was first built, it was intended to be near Oreburgh City, so the entire city was constructed on a developed mountain.

After days of long travel, Ash, Dawn, and Brock finally crossed the forest and arrived at Jubilife City, the venue for the Pokémon Contest. Before that, however, the three of them, led by Dawn, rushed to the Pokémon Watch specialty store in the city center.

"Oh, no, we're late. Are they already sold out?" Dawn said with a disappointed look as she saw the empty shelves in the store.

"I'm so sorry. The company's products were all recalled because they were all found to be faulty after an unknown trio caused a disturbance. Sales have been suspended," the staff member explained patiently while bowing.

As the most developed city in the Sinnoh region, Jubilife City is home to many high-tech companies. The company that developed the Pokémon Watch is located here. Their product, a multi-functional Pokémon Watch, is very popular among trainers.

"It's probably that Team Rocket trio again."

Hearing the words "trio," the first thing that came to Ash's mind was the Team Rocket trio, who were constantly causing trouble. This time, the Pokémon Watches were undoubtedly their fault.

"Are there really no Pokémon Watches left? They said today was the release day. Isn't there even one we can use?" Dawn bit her lip, unwilling to give up, and asked the staff member.

"Well..." As a direct seller, the store had definitely set aside a few perfectly good Pokémon Watches. But these were the deluxe versions, and the price was not low. Not everyone could afford them. The staff member could only try to explain gently, hoping to dissuade Dawn.

"How expensive can it be? Is this golden pearl enough?" Before Dawn could say anything, Ash placed a shiny, round pearl in front of the staff member and gestured with it.

"Yes, yes, it's more than enough! I'll get you the deluxe Pokémon Watch right away!" Upon seeing the golden pearl, the staff member immediately knew they had a generous customer and quickly ran to the back of the store to get the Pokémon Watch.

"Ash, where did you get a golden pearl? I can pay for this myself. You don't have to," Dawn said in surprise, refusing out of politeness.

"It's fine. I found it while I was traveling before. Don't worry about it," Ash replied calmly, making up a random excuse. Brock, who was standing nearby, was a bit suspicious but kept quiet after seeing the look in Ash's eyes.

The golden pearl that Ash gave was worth 100 gold coins in his system backpack. With a "huge sum" of 4,399 gold coins, he didn't care about the small amount of 500 gold coins.

"Sir, here are your watches. Please take them." A moment later, Ash had three exquisite Pokémon Watches in his hands.

"Here, Dawn, this one is for you." He handed the pink Pokémon Watch to Dawn. Although she felt a bit embarrassed, Dawn, who loved Pokémon Watches, honestly accepted the exquisite gift after a moment of hesitation.

"Thank you!" The watch looked very nice, and the color was her favorite. After politely taking the Pokémon Watch from Ash, she couldn't wait to try out its features.

"Wow, it not only has a coin-flip function, but also so many others! The map of the Sinnoh region is even included in it!" Dawn excitedly played with the watch as if she had a new toy.

"Hehe, thank you again, Ash!" She waved her right hand, excitedly tilted her head, and put her hands together under her chin to show her thanks in a cute way.

"You're welcome!" Ash smiled at the happy girl. At the same time, he looked at the other two Pokémon Watches in his hands, one dark blue and the other light orange. There was no doubt that the dark blue one was his, which he put on his right hand. As for the last light orange one, he gave it to the quiet Brock.

"Huh, there's one for me too? Thank you so much, Ash!" Brock was surprised as he took the watch and put it on his right hand, just like Ash.

"Hey, this watch can be charged with an Electric-type Pokémon!" Dawn, who had been studying the watch for a while, suddenly exclaimed in surprise, looking at Pikachu with a hint of a mischievous glint in her eyes.

"Oh! So I have a portable charger with me!" Ash said happily. It was indeed a deluxe Pokémon Watch, with functions that were a step above the rest.

"Pika~" Pikachu thumped its chest confidently, as if to say that charging three small watches was nothing. One Thunderbolt would be enough.

The three of them walked back to the Pokémon Center, all the while studying their new watches with great interest. After booking their rooms with Nurse Joy, the three of them went their separate ways for a short time. Dawn went to the training grounds at the Pokémon Center to practice for the upcoming Pokémon Contest. Brock went to his room to research Pokémon food that would be suitable for Croagunk. As for Ash, he was preparing to contact Professor Oak to trade his Scyther holding a Metal Coat to complete its evolution.

"Oh, Ash! How's your journey in Sinnoh going?"

"We just arrived in Jubilife City. We're going to stay for a bit and then head to Oreburgh City to get our first badge." After briefly explaining the situation and chatting for a bit, he told Professor Oak his intention.

"So Scyther is going to evolve? And you need my help to complete the trade evolution?" Professor Oak nodded in understanding. "That's simple. It's no trouble at all!"

Soon, Ash placed Scyther's Poké Ball on the trade machine and activated the transfer device. The Poké Ball disappeared, and then another Poké Ball, which looked like it held an unknown Pokémon, appeared. A moment later, after another trade, Scyther's Poké Ball returned. After saying goodbye to Professor Oak, Ash took the Poké Ball to the backyard of the Pokémon Center and opened it. Scyther appeared and was immediately engulfed in a white light.

In the light, Scyther's form gradually grew bigger. Its blades turned into oval shapes and then became two large pincers. The wings on its back also began to change. When the light faded, its entire body was revealed, covered in red armor, and its two blades had been replaced with two pincers with eye-like patterns.
