"Wooo Jack, how do you know I have such awesome power!" said Luffy, practically bouncing on his feet with his eyes blazing.
"Hey, does that mean we will become allies with the Revolutionary Army?" added Usopp, raising his hand like he was in a classroom.
"It wouldn't be a bad thing to become allies with them," commented Robin with a small smile.
"Jack, what exactly is Luffy real power? I have been curious since you mentioned it," said Nami, her arms folded.
"Does this mean Luffy was holding back this whole time?" asked Chopper, his eyes wide and sparkling. "How strong is he really?!"
"Oi, does that mean our captain is even more of a monster than we thought?" said Sanji, exhaling his breath while glancing toward Luffy.
"I want to know too," said Zoro simply.
"If Luffy-senpai has a secret power then I need to know everything about it immediately," said Bartolomeo, trembling visibly with both fists clenched against his cheeks. "Every single detail of his power, Jack Senpai."
"Whatever it is, it sounds dangerous," murmured Vivi, glancing between Jack and Luffy with a mixture of curiosity and concern.
"Dangerous or not, I want to hear it too," said Nojiko.
Dorry and Broggy exchanged a look with each other without a single word before Dorry spoke for both of them.
"Little captain has a hidden power?" said Dorry, tilting his head.
"Tell us," added Broggy, leaning forward with an expression of genuine interest.
Even King Cobra had turned his full attention toward Jack and Luffy.
"Stop, stop, one question at a time," said Jack, holding up a hand as the overlapping voices continued. "You first, Luffy."
The rest of the crew went quiet, Luffy grinned at Jack. "Am I really powerful? I mean what power do I actually have?"
"Yeah, I really want to know," said Usopp immediately, forgetting that he was supposed to be waiting. "Does this idiot actually have some incredible hidden ability or what?"
"Give some respect to your captain, Usopp-senpai," said Bartolomeo, turning to Usopp with an expression of genuine personal offense.
"He's my captain too and I'm still asking," said Usopp without missing a beat.
"Both of you be quiet," said Nami.
Jack looked at Luffy. "Your power is not Gomu Gomu and infact was never rubber. What you actually have is a Zoan fruit called Nika."
The name landed on the group.
"Nika?" repeated Luffy, his brow furrowing in that way it did when he was genuinely trying to think about something. "What is that?"
"Nika was a warrior from 800 years ago," said Jack. "The fruit carries something called toon force, which means you can use surrounding and turn it into a weapon. "Some stupid people called Nika a god, but he wasn't a good just a normal being with a little bit of power."
"Toon force," murmured Robin, her eyes moving towards Luffy. "That would explain certain things I have observed about the way Luffy ability works that never quite fit the parameters of a standard Paramecia."
"Not a god?" said Luffy, looking genuinely puzzled. "What is a god?"
"What's a god?" echoed Chopper, equally puzzled, looking around at the others.
"A god is the creator of existence itself," said Jack. "Something that was not made by anything, that has no beginning and no ending, that does not die and cannot be destroyed. That is what the word actually means."
"So Nika wasn't a god?" asked Kuma.
His voice was quiet and the question was simple but something in the way he asked it made the surrounding conversation pause. It was one of the rare moments where Kuma spoke and when he did everyone become silent.
"No," said Jack, meeting his eyes. "Nika was not a god, eight hundred years ago Nika lost to Imu. God didn't die and cannot die, Kuma. God don't bleed and God don't fall and God don't get erased from history by someone sitting on a throne." He paused. "Whatever Nika was, he was human."
Bonney had gone very still beside her father. She knew about Nika thanks to her father who shared the story about warrior of freedom.
Hearing Jack say it plainly, just as fact, opened something in her chest that she had not expected.
Kuma said nothing more but the look on his face had changed.
"So Luffy isn't a god," said Bonney after a moment.
"No," said Jack.
"But he is warrior of Freedom or someone very powerful?" she said.
"Yeah," said Jack, glancing at Luffy with the faint expression. "He's something."
Luffy, who had been following the conversation with the expression of someone trying very hard to keep up, suddenly grinned so wide it looked like it might not fit on his face.
"I don't really get all of it," he said cheerfully, "but it sounds like I'm really strong."
"Luffy-senpai," said Bartolomeo, grabbing the railing with both hands and looking like he might actually start crying. "You are so much more than really strong. You are the warrior of freedom."
"Bartolomeo," said Nami.
"Yes?"
"Breathe."
Bartolomeo breathed.
"So what do we do now?" asked Zoro, redirecting the conversation with his usual complete lack of interest in dramatic pauses. "The whole world just found out about Luffy, about Imu, about all of it. What comes next?"
"What comes next," said Jack, looking up at the broadcast still playing above them, "is the world decides what to do with what it just learned."
"And us?" asked Vivi, her voice quiet but clear.
"We find Sabo," said Luffy before Jack could answer, "And then we keep going, if that Imu blocked our path, I will kick his ass."
Nobody argued with Luffy, they are ready to fight with Imu.
King Cobra, who had been listening through the entire exchange, looked at Luffy for a long moment and then looked at Vivi.
"That boy," he murmured softly, , "is exactly what this era needs."
