Chapter 105: Two-Fingered Spear
The summoning eagle was incredibly fast.
In just ten seconds, it had closed the distance to only 500 meters from the Li Yao clone flying in the center.
At the same time, the other two Li Yaos flying in different directions had only gotten about a kilometer away from the summoning eagle.
That distance was still within danger range.
Li Yao's real body was flying slightly to the right. He was already prepared to recall the chakra from the clones at any moment and redirect his escape path.
"Not good!"
Suddenly, the Li Yao clone flying in the center instinctively tried to shoot out three Black Iron Chains from his chest through the Black Iron Feather Cloak.
But before the chains could even emerge, a lightning-clad figure had already pierced toward him.
Fast—
Too fast!
Even Li Yao's mind couldn't keep up.
Shhh—! A four-fingered hand compressed with high-voltage, razor-sharp Lightning Release chakra stabbed forward like a supersonic dagger, slicing through the air and striking the Black Iron Feather Cloak covering the clone's chest.
Clang—! The clone's chest caved inward slightly from the impact.
Fortunately, the Black Iron Feather Cloak held and didn't break.
"He actually blocked it!"
From behind, the Third Raikage, who had used Lightning Chakra Mode to leap 500 meters from the eagle and pierce forward, was momentarily stunned. His Four-Fingered Spear had failed to penetrate the black chakra armor—his opponent's defense was impressive.
However…
Just as the clone's eyes flashed with relief at blocking the attack and preparing to counter with Black Iron Chains—
In a split second, the Raikage folded in his pinky and ring fingers, transforming the Four-Fingered Spear into a Two-Fingered Spear. The Lightning Release chakra on his fingers instantly compressed to over twice its previous density, and the pinpoint thrust gained ten times more power.
CRACK—BOOM!
The relieved expression on the clone's face froze. The chakra-stitched Black Iron Feather Cloak shattered.
The Two-Fingered Spear, wrapped in highly compressed Lightning chakra, pierced straight through the clone's chest.
With its chest penetrated, the clone couldn't maintain form and exploded into mist.
The Black Iron Chains that formed the Feather Cloak collapsed—the chakra thread structure destroyed, unraveling into raw chakra.
Since the damage was caused by the Third Raikage's chakra, even the consciousness Li Yao had infused into the clone's chakra was dispersed.
That's when Li Yao realized—embedding his consciousness into chakra didn't mean it was invulnerable. A strong enough attack could shatter it.
Clearly, the Third Raikage's strength met that threshold.
Li Yao had lost full control over that portion of chakra.
Without the anchor of his consciousness, the chakra quickly dissipated into its most basic form.
And with all the chakra used previously to generate Black Lightning…
This clone was already nearing automatic dispersal.
Now, with the explosion, the Black Iron Eagle couldn't be retrieved.
In short, this one attack from the Third Raikage cost Li Yao nearly an entire clone's worth of chakra.
Li Yao had divided his chakra into four parts—three clones and himself.
So this meant he had lost almost one-fourth of his total chakra in a single blow.
It didn't sound like much, but for Li Yao—who didn't have an abundant chakra pool to begin with—it was a significant loss.
BOOM!
Panicked, Li Yao no longer cared about revealing his location. He immediately directed the remaining Black Iron Eagle to fly toward him and flipped in midair to try and throw the Third Raikage off.
"Damn it."
Li Yao scowled.
The Third Raikage hadn't been thrown off. His feet remained firmly planted on the Black Iron Eagle's back, as steady as if he were standing on water.
This exposed one of the weaknesses of the Black Iron Chains.
While they could seal and inhibit normal chakra inside a ninja's body, they had no effect on jutsu chakra that had undergone elemental transformation.
So, with his body coated in Lightning Release chakra armor, the Raikage could stabilize his footing on the eagle's back as if glued in place.
No matter how Li Yao tilted or flipped the eagle, the Raikage couldn't be shaken off.
"He's over there?"
Standing atop the Black Iron Eagle, the Third Raikage glanced at the Li Yao flying slightly to the right, starting to suspect that one was the real body.
Though it could also be a trick.
But that didn't matter. He could just attack again.
SHHH! The Raikage suddenly raised his hand and slashed downward. The Two-Fingered Spear wasn't just unstoppable for thrusting—it also had unrivaled cutting power.
CRACK—BOOM!
As expected, the Black Iron Eagle was sliced apart like tofu. The internal structure of the Black Iron Chains was destroyed and collapsed, dispersing into basic chakra.
"Shit..."
Seeing yet another massive chunk of chakra lost to the Raikage's attack, Li Yao cursed inwardly, but he had no choice but to keep forcing the eagle's wings to flap faster.
"Lightning Release: Black Spotted Thunder Serpent!"
Now standing once more on his summoning eagle, the Third Raikage didn't pause. He immediately unleashed more Black Lightning.
But this time, it wasn't just two serpents—it was sixteen, eight in each direction.
The Raikage had sensed Li Yao's weakness: a limited chakra reserve.
Clearly, Li Yao's Wood Release wasn't powerful—he didn't have the massive chakra reserves of the First Hokage.
Combined with the fact that Shadow Clones divided chakra evenly…
The Raikage was sure: one Black Lightning Serpent might be blocked, but eight would definitely break through.
That would reveal whether the eagle carried anyone, and help him pinpoint Li Yao's real body.
But his confidence didn't last even a second—it froze immediately.
CLANG—ZZZZZ!
From atop the Black Iron Eagle, Li Yao's clone countered the eight serpents with a previously unseen technique: Vajra Chains.
In a flash of golden light, eight Vajra Chains intercepted the serpents. The eagle was untouched.
In his desperation to escape, Li Yao no longer cared about exposing his ability to copy others' chakra techniques. He used the Vajra Chains openly.
Compared to the more physical defense of the Black Iron Chains—
The Vajra Chains had far stronger absorption properties. They could directly devour Lightning chakra jutsu like Black Lightning. Though not instantly, they could hold it at bay.
They were also far more resistant to jutsu than the Black Iron Chains.
More importantly, the chakra forming the Vajra Chains could be reabsorbed by Li Yao and converted back into regular chakra, meaning it wasn't a costly technique.
Black Lightning, however, was different.
Once Lightning chakra became Black Lightning, it transformed in essence—like true electricity in nature. It couldn't be reverted and reabsorbed.
Just as Water Release chakra turned into water that couldn't be absorbed to regain chakra—
Li Yao couldn't convert Black Lightning back into Lightning chakra.
So, to conserve energy, he had no choice but to counter the Raikage's attacks with Vajra Chains.
And it worked.
The Black Lightning was blocked. The Raikage couldn't determine which direction the real Li Yao had taken.
"It's the Uzumaki Clan's Vajra Chains!"
Damaokelisi and the others gasped as they saw the golden chakra chains.
"No,"
The Raikage corrected them grimly. "It's Mito Uzumaki's Vajra Chains."
The ordinary Uzumaki Clan's version wasn't that strong—it couldn't absorb Black Lightning.
Only Mito Uzumaki's improved version could do that.
"Li Yao…"
The Raikage's eyes flickered. Between the Black Lightning and Vajra Chains with absorption abilities identical to Mito Uzumaki's, he had formed a troubling hypothesis.
But it was too shocking for him to confirm just yet.
If true, then Li Yao—the escaped experimental subject from Konoha—was unimaginably dangerous.
"Boss, which way do we go now?"
With the Black Lightning blocked and Li Yao's real body still unidentified, Damaokelisi didn't know who to chase.
"Right," said the Raikage. That Black Iron Eagle had shown signs of flying right earlier. He was betting that the real Li Yao was heading that way.
