Luciano knocked once on the door to Giovanni's room, before opening it and walking in.
He found the man at the window side, just staring.
"Natalia did say that's all you spend your day doing even back in your house," he said as he walked up to him.
"Luce! I was wondering when you'll turn up," he replied without bothering to look at him.
"You seem to be in high spirits. I was surprised when I heard you had agreed to undergo the surgery. What did Valentina say to you?"
"That girl. She's really like her mother. At first you think they're too pretty to be smart and then they leave you looking like a fool."
"So she made you look like a fool?" His face contorted in half curiosity and half confusion.
"Exactly that. But it's fine. I needed to hear it. I've not been fair to Daniela."
"Don't you mean Natalia?"
Giovanni didn't speak for a while, but he sighed heavily.
"Look, I understand that you're going through a lot, so I'm glad you've agreed to do this. I mean that's enough."
