Chapter 13 - Awakening...

Jade's eyes fluttered open, laying on the makeshift bed lazily while reminiscing about his dungeon raid experience, simulating and reprimanding himself for the mistakes he made and how he should have performed better and how inexperienced he still was. But he promised himself to do better next time .

Jade Lazily called up his system menu, His gaze sweeping through the notifications:

Jade's eyes lingered on his reward, curiosity piqued. What could this mysterious reward be? He decided to investigate later.

He focused on the Seed of Darkness reward. As he read more about it, he realized it was a unique aspect of his Void Belgusari bloodline. This seed could potentially unlock new abilities or enhance his existing powers.

"Accept reward 1". He muttered.

Immediately, Jade felt his body heating up as the Seed of Darkness activated, he felt an intense, mystical energy coursing through his veins. It was as if the very fabric of reality was shifting to accommodate the new power awakening within him. The energy pulsed and throbbed, like a heartbeat, resonating with the Void Belgusari bloodline that flowed through his veins.

The room around him seemed to darken, as if the shadows themselves were drawn to the power emanating from his body. Jade's senses expanded, and he could feel the subtle vibrations of the darkness, like whispers in his mind. His body began to undergo a subtle transformation, his cells infused with the essence of the void.

As the transformation reached its peak, Jade felt reborn, his body and mind infused with the mystical power of Darkness. He knew that he had only scratched the surface of his true potential, and he was eager to explore the depths of his ability.

Feeling refreshed and happy, Jade got off his makeshift bed and jumped on the spot, flexing is non-existent muscles. He felt his entire body brimming with power , like a god. Jade wished he could resurrect the ogre boss and have a rematch to test his power. But it was wishful thinking.

Jade stood , looking at his status window in satisfaction . His gaze fell on his Talent awakening stuck at 99.9 %, and he was puzzled. His intelligence stat had already increased past the 150 points mark and it still hadn't awakened but it was infinitely close to it . So he decided to invest his extra stats into it to awaken it fully.

After adding a single stat, to Jade's dismay didn't complete the awakening so he began to add more . After adding 8 points to his intelligence stat , Jade was beginning to despair- could it be that he would add all his stat points and this Talent wouldn't awaken?.. seeing that he only had 3 stats point left, He decided to go all out -adding all three at once.

BOOM!

Suddenly , Jade heard a loud sound akin to a thunderclap in his head, he felt a searing pain course through his mind, like his brain was being reshaped and rewired.

The agony was intense, and Jade's vision blurred. As the pain intensified, Jade's body began to tremble. His eyes felt like they were on fire, it felt like someone was splitting his skull open and trying to stuff a mansion into it. The process was excruciating, like his very soul was being transformed.

An agonizing scream tore through his throat echoing throughout the silent junkyard alley. He screamed and cried grabbing his head wishing for nothing more than for the pain to stop.

As his Divine Soul Dual Pupils awakened, his eyes underwent a radical change. Each eye now had two pupils: the original silvery grey pupils, and two additional golden purple pupils with mystical patterns swirling within.

The golden purple pupils seemed to glow with an inner light, as if infused with ancient power.

The manifestation was intense, with Jade's body trembling and convulsing as the power surged through him. Blood trickled from his nose, ears, and eyes, he wanted to pass out so badly, but his consciousness refused to fade- forcing him to feel every moment of the excruciating pain.

After a few minutes that felt like an eternity to Jade, the pain finally slowly subsided gradually until it finally stopped.

He layed there panting hard like he had just ran a 100km marathon race, his head heavy like someone was sitting on it. He finally understood why he needed a high intelligence stat to awaken his talent. A normal person would have had their head burst apart from the intensity of the awakening.

Jade layed there in his own pool of blood gazing dazedly at the shack roof. His vision bluring as his eyes were recalibrated to accommodate the new pupils.

Then everything went dark..... He didn't notice the system notifications that followed his awakening.....

---------------------------------------------------------

Five hours later.....

Niamh trudged through the dusty streets, her footsteps heavy with disappointment. Today's scavenging expedition had yielded nothing but a few scraps and some useless trinkets. She'd been hoping to find something valuable, something that would give her an edge in this harsh world. But it seemed luck wasn't on her side.

As she approached her house, Niamh's thoughts turned to Jade. She wondered what he'd been up to while she was out. Had he found some time to relax?

She pushed open the door, calling out to Jade as she entered. "Hey, I'm back! Didn't find much today, but..."

Her voice trailed off as she took in the scene before her. Jade lay on the floor, surrounded by a pool of blood. Niamh's heart skipped a beat as she rushed to his side. "Jade! Oh my god, what happened to you?", she screamed, tears already clouding her vision.

She gently turned him over, her hands shaking as she assessed his injuries. Blood trickled from his nose, ears, and eyes, and his face was pale and clammy. Niamh's mind reeled with worry and fear. What had happened to Jade? Had he been attacked while she was out?

Her mind reeling with murderous intentions at whoever might have done this to her precious baby as she scrambled to lift him off the floor and clean him up..

Niamh checked his body meticulously , finding no injuries that might have pointed at an attack, his heart rate was also steady. She felt herself calm down a little as she whispered his name trying to wake him .

As Niamh worked on trying to clean him up, Jade's eyes fluttered open and he gazed up and Niamh with a mix of confusion and pain. "Ni...amh..", he whispered, his voice barely audible.

Niamh's gaze shot upwards as she heard her name almost blurting out all her worries. But what she saw made her heart skip a beat, her breath caught in her through.

Jade's eyes, once a normal silvery grey, now had an additional pair of pupils - a mesmerizing orb of golden purple with mysterious runes dancing within. Niamh's eyes widened in shock as she stared at the unusual sight.

"Jade, your eyes...what's happening to you?" she whispered, her voice trembling slightly.

Jade's gaze drifted back to hers, his mind trying to pick up it's shattered Pieces. He layed there staring at her and for a moment , he forgot to answer Niamh's enquiry. But Niamh took it for him still being in pain.

Niamh's surprise slowly gave way to concern. She gently asked, "Jade, can you hear me? What's going on?"

.....

Jade smiled weakly trying to reassure her. "I'm fine, Niamh. Really. My talent just awakened. It was...a lot to handle."

Niamh's brow furrowed. "But the bleeding...you're hurt?"

Jade's hand found Niamh's, his fingers intertwining with hers. "It's not a wound, Niamh. It's just...part of the awakening process. I'm okay, I promise."

Niamh's eyes searched his face, her grip on his hand tightening. "But you're so pale...and weak."

Jade's thumb stroked her hand, a gentle caress. "I'll be fine, Niamh. Just need some rest. Don't worry about me, okay?"

Niamh's nod was hesitant, but Jade's reassuring smile seemed to calm her. "Sleep, Jade. You need to rest," she said softly, helping him lie down.

As Jade settled in, his eyes locked onto Niamh's. "I'm really okay, Niamh. Don't worry."

Niamh's gentle smile was all Jade saw before his eyes drifted close.
