THE BLACKTHORN CODEX
Episode 49 — The Awakening of the Present
November 17, 2023 — 2:25 PM
Their bodies were thrown through time. The cavern disappeared, replaced by the salty air and familiar light of Marseille in 2023. Clarisse and Léandre, still fused with Borax, rose above the city, panting but alive, their powers intact and their bond strengthened.
They had survived Selerion. But the real question remained: what changes had the time warp wrought, and what enemies still awaited them in their time?
The sky over Marseille was clear, but every breath of wind carried an unusual heaviness. Clarisse and Léandre, still fused with Borax, flew above the city, their eyes silently scanning the streets. The Codex floated between them, radiating protective runes and ancient whispers.
"Everything looks the same..." Leander murmured, watching the passersby oblivious to what had just happened.
"But we know that's not the case..." Clarisse replied.
"Selerion left an imprint," Borax added in their minds.
Every corner of the city seemed slightly altered. Passersby had fleeting reflections of impossible colors in their eyes, children seemed to whisper words no one understood. Echoes of Selerion had seeped into reality.
"Witches..." Leander murmured, feeling a shiver of menace.
"They never stay where they're thought to be defeated."
A strange rustling came from the old harbor. A figure materialized, floating above the water. The same energy as Selerion's sorcerers. But that was only a taste. Fractures in time, caused by their crossing, were beginning to draw unknown entities into their era.
Clarisse and Léandre stepped onto the dock, their bodies radiating elemental energy. The Codex reacted instantly, projecting a protective field around them. The figure approached: a sorcerer from Selerion's past, capable of manipulating time and water, was testing their strength in this new world.
The sorcerer created a swirling black wave, sucking in the surrounding energy.
Clarisse used volcano + lightning, dispersing the wave and striking the sorcerer from a distance.
Léandre combined teleportation + explosion, surprising the enemy and breaking their mental defenses.
Borax amplified their reflexes and coordination, allowing them to anticipate every counterattack.
The sorcerer, recognizing their power, altered the space around the port, transforming the docks into a spiral of water and dark light. The buildings twisted as if gravity itself had been altered. Clarisse and Léandre's every movement became a precise ballet: dodging, countering, projecting elemental and mental powers.
"We can't stay here!" Léandre shouted.
"He's attracting everyone's attention... even forces we don't yet understand."
Once the sorcerer was driven back, a familiar silhouette appeared in the sky: black ravens, carrying messages from Selerion. Their flight traced runes in the air, announcing that this world would soon suffer the consequences of their passage through time.
Clarisse felt fear, but also a new determination:
"We must understand these alterations... and protect our time." »
Leander nodded:
"But every answer we find will bring us closer to the true enemies... and to Selerion's source."
As they flew over Marseille, the sea seemed to boil slightly, a sign that the border between Selerion and Earth was no longer completely sealed. The Codex vibrated, projecting warning runes:
> "The balance is fragile. Past and present intertwine. The heroes have returned... but the real challenge begins now."
The two heroes looked at each other, aware that their journey through time was not over. Each victory had left its mark, each power used had created cracks. And Selerion, though temporarily defeated, was already preparing his revenge in their time.
