Chapter 191 - G Company's Revenge

189. G Company's Revenge

G Company Headquarters.

In the chairman's office, a woman coldly questioned the person bowing before her.

"Have you done your job properly?"

"Report, those people have been dispatched to each Silver Chapel."

"Very good." The woman nodded, a hint of mockery flashing in her cold eyes.

"We've always been taken care of by you, the Fire Moths; it's time for us to return the favor."

"We hope you like it."

"The distortion of the city..."

-------

In the Fire Moths' jurisdiction, each trough was connected, and vehicles shuttled everywhere.

Morning.

On several buses sat some people, their expressions numb and empty. They watched the flow of people on the street, a distortion in their pupils imperceptible to ordinary people.

Inside the Silver Chapel.

Even though there was never a requirement for the public to pray at the Silver Chapel every day, many people still came here to offer their prayers.

Today was no exception.

As usual, people came to the cathedral and prayed with their eyes closed.

But they were unaware that disaster was quietly approaching.

Following the flow of people, Roland said to Angelica with a hint of helplessness, "There are so many people, it would have been better to come at noon, when there are fewer people."

"Oh, it's more atmospheric when there are more people at this time," Angelica said with a laugh at first, but after looking around, she added with a hint of relief, "But there are indeed too many people, let's come at noon next time."

"Right?"

With hundreds of people in the crowd, it was impossible to tell who was who among them. Even the few people who had blended in with blank expressions went unnoticed, or perhaps this was a common sight in the old city.

---------

Another Nest.

"This is the church of our enemies who made us unemployed, and you actually brought me to a place like this?" Shao glanced sideways at Lowell beside him.

"Haha, it's because I heard it's quite effective, so I thought I'd bring you here to try it out." Lowell scratched his head.

Shao sighed, saying nothing more.

But just then, she seemed to sense something. As the former head of the Sixth Section, even amidst the massive crowd, she noticed a few people acting strangely.

"Those few people, including Lowell, seem a bit off."

Hearing Shao's words, Lowell instinctively became alert, following her gaze and seeing—he saw—a few people in the crowd with suspicious eyes.

----------

Lemuen, as usual, acted as the leader, guide, and listener, but in the church with hundreds of people, she quickly noticed that a few people were acting strangely, just as she had expected.

It was as if a point in time had been reached.

Inside the seven cathedrals, several people simultaneously underwent a distortion.

And so, tragedy struck, within the Silver Cathedral.

Even though there were guardians in all seven cathedrals protecting the people, the moment the distortion occurred, some people were unharmed, while others died instantly, and some, even after being decapitated, still unleashed devastating energy.

Aside from the four Silver Cathedrals which remained largely undamaged, the other three buildings suffered varying degrees of casualties.

Inside the office.

Lemuen stared grimly at the report before her.

The others also wore grim expressions.

"We underestimated their methods," Dan Heng spoke first, breaking the silence.

"Using people on the verge of being twisted, getting them into the cathedral, and then using some unknown method to instantly twist them—these corporate scum will use anything." Lemuen's voice was cold; she seemed unfamiliar to everyone.

But those around her understood.

"This is essentially a suicide bomber. Unless we conduct thorough checks on everyone, it's difficult to prevent this kind of terrorist attack," Dan Heng said with a hint of helplessness.

"Not quite," Angela interjected.

"In the other three churches, someone noticed the change beforehand and apprehended those people before the distortion even realized it."

"Perhaps we can hire them, or get the criteria for judgment from them."

"That's a good idea." Dan Heng nodded approvingly.

Lemuen smiled at Angela: "Then I'll leave this to you."

As she said this, Lemuen stood up. "I have some things to do."

Leaving these words, Lemuen walked out through the main entrance.

Dan Heng also nodded to Angela.

"Thank you for your trouble."

Luo Tianyi also bowed.

"Thank you for your trouble, Angela."

Elena said, "I can only trouble you."

The group followed Lemuen's steps, walking into the distance.

Angela sighed.

She wanted to follow too, but she hadn't finished what Lemuen had asked her to do.

Someone had to stay behind to continue the cleanup work.

Angela looked out at the sky.

"It feels like I've been working non-stop ever since I came out," Angela murmured softly.

It wasn't that she didn't have holidays, but seeing Lemuen still busy while she could enjoy hers made her feel a little embarrassed, so she canceled all her holidays to work alongside everyone.

But… she didn't dislike this kind of life.

She even felt happy about it. Although work was busy every day, it felt incredibly fulfilling. At least when ordering takeout, everyone would ask her what she wanted to eat, and when they saw her eating something she didn't like, they would advise her not to eat it.

When she felt sleepy, someone would suggest she rest early.

Shaking her head, she shook off these thoughts and threw herself back into work. She invited the people who had discovered the distortion earlier.

Two cleanup crew members.

Two members of the association.

One who called himself a detective.

--------

G Company's plan was prepared the day before, and its destruction began when Kyuushou re-entered this nest.

"How is this possible?" The chairman of G Company, his neck gripped by Kyuushou from afar, stared incredulously at the wide robe Kyuushou wore… a robe flowing with a deep, dark gold hue.

Anyone who had ever peered into the inner circle of The City power recognized it—it was the symbol of the leader! A sign of absolute authority, transcending all wings, all nests, all rules!

The answer was clear.

The leader had joined the conflict.

And stood on the opposite side.

The chairman of G Company felt somewhat relieved.

What were they still resisting? Before this being who symbolized the ruler of The City? How ridiculous! How presumptuous!

The leader was the creator and absolute ruler of this twisted city.

The Singularity Technology they were so proud of, the lifeblood of The City? It was merely one of the technologies the leader had already mastered, perhaps even to the point of exhaustion, and no one knew how much the leader possessed.

"Nothing in this world is impossible," Kyuushou's voice rang out, calm as if stating an eternal truth.

"And you, the decision-maker of G Company, should pay the price for your actions."

The invisible force gripping his throat tightened abruptly! There was no scream, only a dull, teeth-grinding thud, like a ripe watermelon bursting open.
