More and more people check their talent. From 556 people to just 100 remaining, they were mostly C- and D-rank talent, with just a handful of B-rank talent, and A-rank talent was even less.
There were now about 20 left, out of the 80; only 5 ranked A and 10 ranked B were found, the rest were ranked C and D-rank talent.
"For over a hundred years, A– and B–rank talents have been in sharp decline. And now… this batch is the worst of them all." The bald instructor exhaled heavily, watching the D– and C–rank results appear one after another. Can our nation endure like this? Worry gnawed at his thoughts.
The instructor's gaze shifted toward the Six-Clan heir. His brown eyes flared into a luminous bronze glow, signs of khaos energy flow in it; he could see that the 6 clan heir was giving a strong aura.
He sighs slightly. "There is hope for this generation."
Kurogami's eyes swept across the hall, settling on the Six-Clan heirs. Each wore the same sharp expression, their gazes restless, searching. He didn't need to guess; he already knew exactly what they were hunting for.
Kurogami signed, "Too bad you wound find him," he thought.
Daichi, let's go," Kurogami said.
They both walked forward, two commoners and a female noble also followed,
Each picked an orb and, with the instructor's command, they all placed their hands on the orb. The white light brightened up once more, covering the hall, and some of the orbs' colors began to change, from white to light orange, then blue, even red.
Kurogami was number 5, his orb was beside him, the bald instructor Daichi was by his left side, six steps away, followed by a female noble, then the two commoners.
"Number one and two C rank talent," the instructor said.
The commoners both let out a joyful expression; they were qualified to be students of Sentinel Academy, which means their future was bright.
"Number three, A class talent, number four, a B class talent. "
"So you are even a B-class talent, and you dare humiliate me, I will make you pay in 3 folds," the female noble thought as her lips curled into a smile.
Daichi paid no attention to her, not even caring about her A-class talent, which made her frown, as the only A-class around her, she should be the center of attention.
"Number five D class talent," the instructor with a tablet said.
The noble girl could not help but laugh after hearing this. She immediately hid her lips with the luxury mini fan in her right hand.
Kurogami let out a smile. He was accepted; that was more than enough for him, not caring about being ranked a D class.
Kurogami looked at Daichi's orb, seeing that he had B-class talent, which made him happy. Smiling at Daich and congratulating him.
Daichi, seeing this, felt deep respect towards Kurogami. A lot of D-class talent was announced, some cried, some were sad but tried hiding it with a smile, some could bear the gaze and were insane, yet Kurogami was unfazed, not caring about it and the disappointed look of others. Daichi could not help but smile.
Leiji felt sad for him; the rest of the heir just looked uninterested at all. They were all focused on finding the widow child.
The bald instructor looked at Daichi and also found his behavior odd. He looked at him firmly.
"Where is your tag?" the bald instructor asked number 5.
Kurogami touched his chest and was about to show the instructor, but he didn't find it. That made Kurogami look at his chest and the instructor, "Oh shit," Kurogami thought, his expression scared. He immediately looked at his bag and noticed that the tag was on the bag handle. Since the tag was placed on a non-living thing, it had no effect.
Daichi's eyes opened wide; he was shocked by this.
The test began under the crushing pull of fivefold gravity. One by one, students collapsed, groaning under the invisible weight. Some survived by cloaking themselves in chaos essence, and the ones who survived without it, their tags glowing with a blue light showing they had passed.
The one using khaos energy was further tested with 15x gravity pull; some of them barely even endured it, even with the assistance of khaos essence protecting them. The ones whose tag showed a passed sign were protected by it. Kagome stood tall, without a flicker of khaos energy; even fifteenfold gravity wasn't able to do a thing."
A faint smile tugged at Daichi's lips.
Daichi whispered, awe in his voice: "Of course… I knew you weren't ordinary."
The bald instructor's face twisted in anger.
"You can't even follow a simple rule. You're disqualified—"
Before he could finish, Daichi cut in, voice sharp and loud:
"Sir, I was with him all day. He never used Khaos Essence, not once. He took both tests and survived."
Murmurs rippled through the students. The instructor's glare burned, but even he couldn't dismiss the truth. Fifteenfold gravity… without khaos energy? Any ordinary human's body would have been crushed into paste…
The Six-Clan heirs turned their attention toward Kurogami, their eyes narrowing with sudden interest. A subtle shift in the air followed, curiosity, recognition, and something far more dangerous.
A thought struck the bald instructor like lightning.
Wait. Could this be one of the Twelve Heavenly Defying Physiques?
Legends spoke of rare humans born with bodies beyond natural law, muscles and bones tempered into weapons, their cores unlocked from birth, their bodies like they had been sculpted by gods themselves; they were created for war.
The instructor exhaled, masking his shock. His eyes locked on Kurogami.
"…Follow me."
He turned sharply, leaving the arena. Kurogami hesitated, jaw tight. Damn it. I didn't want to make a scene. But he followed.
From the sidelines, the other nobles and commoners exchanged wary glances, whispering among themselves.
The instructors looked at themselves. The instructor holding a tablet muttered quietly, "I'll carry on from here." The bald instructor gave a curt nod of approval.
The test continued for the rest, but all eyes lingered on the boy who walked away, curious to what he was.
Before the iron door, short against Kurogami, he looked back, smiling at Daichi. Daichi smiled back at him.
The bald instructor walked ahead, a step at a time. Kurogami followed in behind, watching the instructor.
"Your test will be different from the others, and going to be more cruel with an insane expectation, the reason you are disqualified yet is because I think u have one of the Twelve Heavenly Defying Physiques," the bald instructor said with an even glance at Kurogami.
"Do you know about Twelve Heavenly Defying Physiques?" the bald instructor asked Kurogami.
"I have heard stories about it; they are people born with more innate abilities than the usual khaos users. They are one percent of the human population, so they are somewhat treated with special care. " Kurogami answers.
somewhat
"You are correct," the bald instructor said
"Obsidian Vessel, one of the Twelve Heavenly Defying Physiques, that's what my intuition is telling me,"
"Obsidian Vessel often referred to as the "Super Soldier Physique," this rare body type is one of the 12 Earthly Defined Physiques.
Individuals born with it possess only 30–35% chaos energy capacity, causing them to be misclassified as D-rank Sentinels during standard evaluations.
However, once deployed in real combat, they display the strength and endurance of an A-rank Sentinel, often shocking observers.
A fully developed Obsidian Vessel can lift two White Snow Great Elephants (each weighing 9,000–10,000 kg) without drawing on chaos energy. Their speed rivals that of a Blood Leopard Cheetah, twice the speed of a normal cheetah, with reflexes so sharp that their reaction time borders on precognition.
One of their most terrifying traits is their ability to absorb kinetic energy from impact, converting it into raw strength or momentum. Every battle fought, every wound endured, reforges their body stronger than before.
They are, by nature, built for war, living weapons molded by chaos itself. Of course, heaven is fair; they have disadvantages.
"You are going to be tested as someone who has one of the Twelve Heavenly Defying Physiques. The test will be cruel and painful. Are you up for it?" the bald instructor asked as he turned around, staring at Kurogami.
Kurogami smiled and looked at the bald instruction; his green eyes brightened up he only said one word.
"Yes"
