That night, when Lucas came home, Sophia was still toying with the necklace in her hand.
"You're back."
"I'm going to shower first."
Lucas said it and went straight into the bathroom.
Sophia's brow tightened. His behavior felt off. He normally would cling to her for a while when he got home—today he hadn't moved to even kiss her.
Lucas had just stripped when, suddenly, the door opened.
He took a step back.
"You been doing something behind my back?"
He gave a short, embarrassed laugh. "How could I?"
Sophia's nostrils flared. She grabbed his shirt collar and brought her face close to his. "XNE perfume."
She'd not only smelled it—she'd named the product exactly.
She stared at him, waiting for an explanation.
"I… it's nothing. I just met with a client today."
"A client? Are you sure, Lucas?"
Sophia had wanted to trust him. She still wanted to. But his attitude right now was confusing at best.
