Sophia walked quickly to the car, opened the door, and got in.
"Sophia, what's wrong?"
Lucas noticed something was off. He leaned closer and saw that her eyes were slightly red.
He immediately grew anxious. "Don't cry, don't cry. Did Olivia do something to you? I'll go deal with her right now."
Sophia shook her head, lifted her face, and forced a smile. "It's nothing."
Lucas gently caressed her cheek, his voice full of concern. "What happened?"
"She apologized to me, Lucas. She said she was wrong before. She even called me 'sister.' I can't tell whether she was sincere or just pretending."
"If you can't tell, then don't bother. After everything she's done, do you really think one 'sorry' is enough to erase it all?"
Lucas unfastened his seatbelt and kissed her cheek softly. "You can't cry. She's getting married tomorrow. It's very likely a tactic—she doesn't want you to make a move against her."
