Chapter 229 - Still Alive

The old wooden house creaked with every step.

 

Sophia clenched her fists, her breathing growing rapid.

 

If… it really was her, what would she do?

 

She looked at the room marked on the map and locked onto the location.

 

At the same time, Rowan was approaching from the front.

 

The two of them moved closer and finally stood before a room that still looked relatively intact.

 

Sophia raised her hand and knocked. "Is anyone there?"

 

The smell of food drifted from inside. Someone should have been there.

 

But after she knocked, there was no response.

 

They exchanged a glance. Rowan said, "We're coming in."

 

He pushed the door open first. A light breeze carrying the scent of cooking rushed out.

 

Sophia slipped in behind him. The room was small and completely in view—yet no one was inside.

 

"Where is she?" Sophia asked.

 

Rowan went straight to the window and spotted a rope made from tied bedsheets. "She ran."

 

"After her!"
