Dean is now in the hands of the Iron Teeth cartel. It feels like déjà vu, as if he has been in this situation before, with the stories that Drake told about his ordeal in the hands of El Chapo and his men and the fight to get Drake out, during which he is still nursing the gunshot wound on his arm. He feels unprepared to go through this again, especially with James shot and probably dead, and Malik arrested while Drake is still injured.
Dean thought to himself, "Dean is tough. Everyone knows that, but I can't do this alone. This is possibly the end for us all."
They kept him tied to a steel chair in some dark basement, a place more secure than where Drake was kept. Everything seems hopeless.
He hasn't seen the sun in days. Nothing makes sense anymore for Dean.
El Chapo stood in front of him, vaping nicotine, acting a bit drunk and sober.
"Look, all I need is my son. You act tough, and I swear to God, I would rather die than have you walk free while my son is still held captive by your gang."
"I'll be loyal, I will give you whatever information you need, just let me go" Dean said softly.
"We don't need your loyalty," he said coolly rolling his eyes.
"We just need you to take us to where my son is.
You give us Leo, we give you back your life."
Dean's face was all swollen from heavy punches from the cartel hitmen.
Feeling so weak he bend downward, the only thing holding him from falling off the steel chair was the big chain around his body.
He stared at the floor for a long time, chest pounding.
He was bleeding inside, not just from the beatings, but from guilt.
He was thinking about his grandma, she single handedly raise her up and wished he lived a better life and that she will carry a child from Dean.
He can't help but feel like death was looming and would want a chance to go to grandma and say "I'm sorry grandma" she deserves it.
Leading the Iron teeth cartel to the Colombians creek will go against James, Drake and also the Colombians who always emphasized they do not want unnecessary war.
But he also didn't want to die like a dog in this basement, forgotten and nameless.
So… he gave him the location.
"The Colombian Creek,
that's where Leo is" Dean said.
"Really, the devils are working with the Colombian runners now?"
El-Chapo asked rhetorically
"I can see you guys are badly hit now and out of sorts." He said chuckling.
"At least we are making progress " he concluded.
By 10:00 PM, the Iron Teeth moved like a pack of wolves. Three black SUVs, two trucks loaded with soldiers.
Dean sat in the back, guilt choking him; he was just wondering how this was going to turn out and was hoping for the best outcome, one that could get him and Drake out alive at least.
They drove through the bushes, avoiding highways and then lonely streets, and tried not to raise any suspicions.
At Colombian Creek, the runners were already suspicious of some unusual movement above the bridge.
Dean played a little bit of a smart move.
He let the Iron Teeth cartel drive past the bridge and then, after three minutes drive away.
He screamed, "No, what the fuck, stop. We've driven past the location; my eyes are blurry, I'm sorry."
He was hoping that the ever alert Colombians would see the signs of what was coming. As they arrived and got to the creek, And yes they did.
There was no place to run so they were all positioned outside.
Immediately bullets tore through the air, and the entire creek exploded in gunfire.
Shouts in Spanish, "Ese es el cártel de los dientes de hierro," meaning "That's the Iron teeth cartel"
Drake didn't hesitate.
Even when not fully fit yet, he took down two cartel men.
But he was outnumbered, so he ran and hid behind an old barrel, shooting back.
"Dean set us up! I swear!" The creek was surrounded.
"Give us Leo or all of you will be dead," El Chapo was screaming.
The Colombians wouldn't back down so easily.
A cartel member put a gun to Dean's head and ordered him to go straight in to where Leo was.
Drake froze. Dean screamed, "Please don't shoot, I was in L.A. with James. They shot James and got me to lead them here; I had no choice."
Once the Colombian runners and Drake heard "shot James," that was the height; they couldn't take it. It was a difficult pill to swallow for everyone.
Drake muttered to the Colombians, "Hold your fire until we have Dean." The Colombians brought out Leo as he was walking towards the cartel SUV.
They left Dean to also move towards the creek but he immediately jumped into the river.
knowing what was going to happen, and Drake opened fire on Leo.
He staggered and fell; that was it..
It felt like a dream that cartel couldn't believe what they just witnessed.
That sent shivers down their spines
For a second there were silence.
Drake immediately jumped into the river too and that movement was a wake up call to reality again.
The iron teeth cartel opened fire like nothing else mattered again in life, The heavy sirens of the cops didn't make them panic.
The Colombian tried to run but it was too late...
They fought their hardest but their best wasn't enough...
By the time the smoke cleared, the ground was painted red.
Arrival of the cops
This is the Police... "freeze!"
Drop your weapons!" a voice blared through a megaphone.
But it was too late; the Iron Teeth Cartel wasn't about to give up.
Sergeant Sam, who was leading the SWAT team, ducked behind his armored car.
"We've got a cartel war happening, stay in formation!"
he shouted into his radio.
"Snipers, keep an eye on the bridge Watch the right side!"
The officers charged in, shields up and flashbangs ready but the cartel was just waiting for a "word" from their heart broken Boss.
Once El-Chapo's voice muttered "get those motherfuckers off our way" their guns already pointing at the police, they opened fire wildly at the flashing lights, bullets was piercing the police vehicles bodies were dropping like snow.
"They're firing at the cops! Return fire!" Sam yelled.
And suddenly, the night turned into a complete nightmare.
The cops called for back up but there wasn't enough time.
Too many good men down that they had no choice than to retreat.
Only Sergeant Sam and two other officers made it out alive.
