Chapter 13 - Whispers And Jealousy chapter 11

The next day in science class, Elise kept her head low, scribbling in her notes, doing everything possible to avoid looking in Davon's direction. When class ended, she darted for the door—only for Davon to easily catch up with her in the hallway.

"Elise," his voice called firmly, smooth and commanding.

She froze. Slowly, she turned. Her courage faltered the moment her gaze brushed against his—those deep crimson eyes, so sharp they almost glowed. She had to force herself not to look away immediately.

With as much composure as she could muster, she whispered, "My dorm. 3 p.m. Same time."

Davon studied her for a heartbeat longer, smirk tugging at his lips. "Good."

As Elise scurried off, nearly tripping over herself in her haste, the nearby girls who had been watching let out hushed gasps and whispers.

"Did she just invite him?"

"He's going to her dorm?"

"Why her?"

Davon caught every word. His smirk deepened, and without even looking at them, he muttered just loud enough for them to hear, voice edged like steel:

"Jealousy doesn't suit you."

The girls fell silent instantly, stunned. Davon slid his hands into his pockets, eyes following Elise's retreating form with something almost unreadable.

She really hasn't changed… not one bit.
