Along the way, Ross kept pressing and releasing the accelerator, causing Zhang Jie to sway left and right in the back seat, an uncomfortable experience that made him complain wildly the entire time. The whole cockpit was filled with Zhang Jie's angry curses and complaints, as well as Ross and Yin Yang's laughter.
To be honest, Ross really liked Zhang Jie; though young, he was interesting—a fascinating soul.
After pulling up smoothly in front of the Chapel, Ross and Yin Yang got out first. Zhang Jie finally managed to extricate himself from the narrow space in the back, getting out of the car shakily, his back aching.
Walking into the Chapel, the interior was in a very ancient Badish style. On the main altar at the very back, a man dressed like a priest stood.
Then, Yin Yang stopped, and Zhang Jie naturally stopped as well. Ross went forward alone and began talking with Church Mr..
Church Mr. was a guy who looked like Bruce Willis, also bald. Zhang Jie thought he and Christmas would have a lot to talk about, like how to treat hair loss.
The two discussed for a long time. Zhang Jie and Yin Yang both stood, getting a bit bored.
Soon after, Zhang Jie casually sat down on a bench. Yin Yang merely glanced at him without speaking.
Not long after, Ross and Church Mr. finished their discussion and walked over. Zhang Jie immediately stood up, but he didn't immediately question Ross or speak. Instead, he led them both back to the car.
"Damn it, Ross, can't you get another car? This one is really uncomfortable to ride in."
Zhang Jie complained as he squeezed himself back into the gap.
Ross said with a smile, "Next time I'll bring another car."
Zhang Jie immediately waved his hand, "No thanks, I don't want to ride in your car again."
Then, Ross and Yin Yang also got into the car.
The roar of the V8 engine was a bit exhilarating.
Before long, the car roared back to the base. Nothing happened; the assassination attempt on the road from the original plot also didn't occur.
Because Zhang Jie had already taken care of that matter quite well.
After Yin Yang and Zhang Jie got out of the car, Ross looked at the document in his hand, hesitated for a while, then put it away and got out of the car as well.
Meanwhile, Yin Yang and Zhang Jie had already arrived at the lounge, where Jensen and Caesar were also sitting.
Caesar was sitting on the sofa drinking, while Jensen was playing with his large folding knife.
Seeing the two walk in, Jensen looked at Zhang Jie, "Went out with the boss? Is there a new mission?"
Zhang Jie had a complete understanding of Jensen's style and habits, but he didn't know about this mission because Ross hadn't told him, so he could only shake his head.
"Yes, we went out. There seems to be a mission, but the boss hasn't told us yet. Maybe he'll say something later."
Jensen nodded without replying, but Zhang Jie's explanation was acceptable to him.
"I say, Zhang, do you have an English name? Calling you Zhang all the time feels awkward," Caesar said, downing his drink and turning to Zhang Jie. "You know, my Chinese isn't very good."
"Hahaha! Then study hard, you bastard!" Zhang Jie laughed and cursed.
"Come on! I don't want to go back to school; that would make me sleepy!" Caesar exclaimed, then poured himself another glass of whiskey.
Yin Yang didn't speak but went to the liquor cabinet, pulled out a bottle of dark beer, opened the can, and started chugging it.
He wasn't much of a drinker, but he always had to find something to pass the time during breaks.
He couldn't very well drag Zhang Jie to spar with him; Zhang Jie's seven days of hellish training had just ended.
Zhang Jie just pulled out a pack of cigarettes from his pocket, lit one, and took a deep drag.
Whew~
Recalling the high-intensity training of the past few days, Zhang Jie also exclaimed that he couldn't take it. If he had to do it again, he might not be able to hold on, even though his growth had been remarkable.
All his skills were at least Lv2, and most skills were approaching Lv3, only needing some small encounters to upgrade to Lv3. Comprehensive Shooting had reached Lv3 (89/100), and Instinctive Shooting was also Lv2 (96/100).
The progress was immense.
In the lounge, four people were present: one was playing with his knife, one was drinking, another was also drinking. Zhang Jie was left sitting there smoking and scrolling on his phone.
It was strange; all members of the Sacrifice Squad seemed not very interested in electronic products, such as mobile phones. He hadn't seen them use them much.
Zhang Jie scrolled through some posts on the killer app while looking at missions.
What caught his eye were still the one-star, two-star, and three-star missions. Three-star missions were rare, but one-star and two-star missions were the most numerous.
"Oh? Why is this mission for the Double-Flower Red Pole of Chinatown out again?"
"Oh? What grudge, what hatred? Who is this Bill? Why are there two missions to kill him?"
"Wow? There's even a mission to cause trouble at a Wing Chun Kwoon?"
Zhang Jie's finger kept swiping across the screen, looking at one mission after another. Then, as if remembering something, he swiped his finger back and found the mission to cause trouble at the Wing Chun Kwoon.
"Hmm? Wing Chun Kwoon?"
He clicked in to see the mission details. Good heavens, it was exactly as he thought—right in Chinatown, New York.
"If nothing unexpected happens, this Kwoon should be Ye Xiaoxiao's Kwoon, right?"
It was truly fate; he never expected to come across her while browsing missions. But Zhang Jie didn't click on this mission. It had been listed for several days, and no one had taken it, clearly because the pay was too low.
He wondered which crazy little killer would eventually take on such a mission, lest he be beaten by Ye Xiaoxiao until he didn't even recognize his own mother.
The thought of Ye Xiaoxiao's swift and agile movements made Zhang Jie shiver. It was best not to get close to her, if possible.
Just shoot her and be done with it.
Suddenly, Zhang Jie remembered Miles, who had fought alongside him that day. How was he doing? That guy was truly miserable; both his hands were nailed to the gun, though he ultimately survived.
"I hope your luck is a little better."
And how was Miles, whom Zhang Jie was thinking about? His situation was not good at all, because he was currently being hunted by a woman.
"Fuck! Fuck! Fuck!"
"Don't eat pickled radishes!"
Miles fled frantically through the streets, clutching his head. The crazy woman had greeted him with a burst of gunfire the moment they met. Luckily, he reacted quickly, otherwise he would have truly fallen into her trap.
Fortunately, Zhang Jie had taught him many moves and combat awareness before, and he had learned them all. Otherwise, with today's incident, he might have really been done for.
He desperately sought cover while trying to shake off the woman, but she clung to him like a maggot in a wound, relentlessly pursuing him.
And the woman following behind was Luo Feiyu, who had escaped that day.
Her hasty escape that day had clearly left her very displeased, so she had begun hunting Miles again, and this time, it was still being globally live-streamed on the dark web.
Zhang Jie didn't know, but Caesar was drinking and looking at his phone.
Suddenly, Caesar let out a shriek, "Holy crab! Zhang! Come look, isn't this the person who was with you that day?"
Zhang Jie: ?
What is he talking about?
But Zhang Jie still moved closer to Caesar and looked at the man frantically fleeing on Caesar's phone screen. Zhang Jie's eye twitched involuntarily.
Damn it! Isn't that Miles?
