Chapter 241 - Chapter 241 Phone Call

"Bang!"

A steaming, antique ceramic cup was placed in front of Zhang Jie. Ye Haihan was unhurriedly scalding a citron-sized purple clay teapot with boiling water.

He then took a porcelain jar from the side, used tea tongs to pick out some Dahongpao tea leaves, put them into the pot, and steeped them with hot water. He then handed it over, slowly pouring the tea until the ceramic cup in front of Zhang Jie was seven-tenths full.

Everything moved slowly, unhurriedly, but the rich aroma of the tea continuously filled Zhang Jie's senses.

Ye Xiaoxiao sat to the side, not daring to move, looking very restrained.

"Zhang Jie, an Asian Chinese, currently a two-and-a-half-star silver assassin under the High Table," the old man muttered as he poured himself some tea.

"He was taught by John, and after only a few months of graduating, he has taken on many missions and resides in the Killer's Home."

Zhang Jie's information didn't seem to be a secret; almost all major powers could find it.

"But you don't seem to get along well with the KH Alliance?"

Ye Haihan drained the tea in his cup and then looked at Zhang Jie.

"Just a minor grudge."

Zhang Jie's answer was quite humble, but Ye Haihan didn't think so.

"Is that so? As far as I know, Mountbatten of the KH Alliance once killed your senior martial brother, and your master, to avenge him, directly killed Mountbatten some time ago."

Then, Ye Haihan poured himself another cup of tea.

"And Oriska seems to have some unique views on you. The live broadcast chase of me some time ago, if I remember correctly, should have been his doing, right?"

As soon as these words came out, Zhang Jie suddenly realized, "Aha, so that chase was your doing!"

Zhang Jie's eyes narrowed slightly, and killing intent began to spread.

Ye Haihan, sitting in front of him, felt it very clearly.

"Tsk!"

"How many people has this young man killed for this dense killing aura to be so obvious?"

Then, Ye Haihan put down the purple clay cup in his hand, glanced at Ye Xiaoxiao, "You once saved Xiaoxiao, and our Ye family is very grateful to you. When you were being chased that day, Xiaoxiao sought my help, and I stepped in to resolve the problem for you. But someone told me that it wasn't actually my credit that time, because you had already escaped on your own."

"But no matter what, you saved Xiaoxiao; we must acknowledge this favor. So, Xiaoxiao wants to teach you boxing, and we agree, but we cannot accept you as a disciple."

Ye Haihan's words were very clear.

"Why?" Ye Xiaoxiao was a bit confused.

Ye Haihan waved his hand, "Our Ye family does not want to have too much deep connection and entanglement with the High Table. We are just a traditional Martial Arts family, not the High Table's personal thugs."

When Ye Haihan said this, his tone was somewhat cold.

"But father, he couldn't help it!" Ye Xiaoxiao, of course, knew what Ye Haihan meant by that sentence.

"Hmph! This matter is settled. If you want to learn, we can teach you, but you cannot have any ties or connections with our Ye family." After Ye Haihan finished speaking, he continued to pour tea and said no more.

Ye Xiaoxiao still wanted to say something, but Zhang Jie reached out and stopped her.

Through Ye Haihan's words, he understood that Ye Xiaoxiao's father was likely serving the High Table, which led to Ye Haihan having a very poor impression of the High Table.

Since that was the case, he felt it was inappropriate to disturb them further.

So he cupped his fists at the old man, "Old man, this junior understands your words. Rest assured, I will absolutely not let the Ye family have any further entanglement with the High Table."

With that, Zhang Jie stood up.

He turned and walked outside.

This matter was originally a mutual agreement, but since it involved some aspects of the Ye family, he felt it was better not to get involved.

"Uncle!"

Seeing Zhang Jie get up and leave, Ye Xiaoxiao stamped her foot in anger.

Ye Haihan did not speak.

Ye Xiaoxiao could only get up and chase after him, but she didn't hear her uncle say a word as she stood up and left, "Xiaoxiao, I'm doing this for your and your father's sake…"

"Zhang Jie!"

Ye Xiaoxiao rushed to Zhang Jie in a few steps, blocking him, "Don't listen to my uncle talking nonsense. I'm the one who wants to teach you boxing; it has nothing to do with him."

Just as Zhang Jie was about to say something, he felt his phone vibrate in his pocket.

"Hello?"

Zhang Jie answered the phone.

"You are Zhang Jie, right?" A strong Russian accent came from the phone.

"Who are you?"

"There's a mission here; I wonder if you're interested?"

The voice on the other end of the phone made Zhang Jie unable to recall who it was, no matter how hard he tried. He went through all the names of people he knew in his mind but still couldn't remember.

"I don't know you," Zhang Jie refused very straightforwardly.

"Don't refuse so quickly. I'll give you 24 hours to consider. The reward for this mission is very generous; you can get 1.5 million US dollars after it's done."

After he finished speaking, the other end of the phone hung up directly, leaving Zhang Jie completely bewildered.

To be honest, this was the highest-paying mission Zhang Jie had ever received, but the mission details were completely unknown.

"24 hours?"

"What, is this mission absolutely dependent on me?"

On the other end of the phone, after the man hung up, he looked at the blonde woman in front of him.

"Are you sure this kid will take this mission, Anna?"

Facing the man's question, Anna didn't speak, just looked out the window, wondering what she was thinking. After a long while, she slowly replied, "I don't know, but judging by his recent growth, he seems to be quite short on money."

She turned around and looked at the man.

"If he can take on this mission, we'll be a bit more relaxed."

The man glanced at Anna, said nothing, then pulled out his phone again and dialed another number.

Watching Zhang Jie put his phone back in his pocket, Ye Xiaoxiao asked curiously, "Another mission?"

She had clearly seen Zhang Jie's expression change from relaxed to puzzled, and now slightly hesitant.

For Zhang Jie, making money was, of course, a good thing, but his experiences during this period told him that some money wasn't so easy to earn; it was scorching hot, and some money you might get but never live to spend.

After saying goodbye to Ye Xiaoxiao, Zhang Jie returned to his apartment.

Zhang Jie began an internal struggle, then he took out his phone and made a call.

"Little brother~ You haven't contacted me in a long time, you're really heartless~"

The voice from the receiver made Zhang Jie's hand tremble, then he loudly said, "Shut up! Don't make it sound like I'm a heartless person…"

"Giggle~ Little brother, you're flustered~"

Veronica on the other end of the phone laughed, and Zhang Jie was speechless.

"I want to ask something, has anything happened in Russia recently?"

Zhang Jie got straight to the point, asking his question directly.

"Russia? Who did you provoke again?" Veronica's voice paused.

"No, just asking."

"Alright, nothing major has happened in Russia recently, it's just that a faction's factory outpost in New York was taken down."

Veronica thought for a moment, and it seemed that was the only thing.

"Alright, it looks like she doesn't know either."
