Chapter 245 - Chapter 245 Acceptance

On Zhang Jie's way to Concord.

In a luxurious castle in England, warm white light illuminated the opulent surroundings.

John was currently sitting on one side of a sofa, while a noblewoman sat on the other.

"Senior Sister, you called me here; it can't be just to offer me a cup of tea, can it?"

John took a sip of the black tea in his hand, then looked at the elegantly dressed lady opposite him.

As his gaze moved upwards, if Zhang Jie were here, he would surely recognize her as his landlady, Old Lady Schneider.

"Of course, I called you over because I need your help with something."

The Old Lady's tone was very steady, completely lacking the petty and stingy feeling she had in New York.

John put down his teacup and looked at Schneider.

"If even you, Senior Sister, can't accomplish it, then I certainly can't."

This wasn't John just being polite; it was simply the truth, because his Senior Sister's influence and power far surpassed his own.

Don't let her age fool you; even though his Senior Sister was already over sixty, if she were to pick up a gun, it would be hard to say who would win or lose.

"I'm not convenient to handle this matter, but he can." Schneider hinted meaningfully.

"Zhang Jie?"

John was startled, then realized.

"Now, only he is the most reliable and trustworthy person. I don't trust anyone else, and Anna doesn't trust anyone else either."

Old Lady Schneider was also quite helpless; she had worried herself sick over her granddaughters.

"I can't guarantee he'll go."

After some thought, John could only give this answer, meaning it was up to Zhang Jie to decide whether to go or not.

Then Schneider pushed over a slip of paper. John picked it up and glanced at it, his tone somewhat serious, "Are you sure he can complete it?"

"He is your disciple; you should trust him." Schneider merely said that.

John reluctantly got up and then left.

Not long after leaving the castle, John's phone rang. He picked it up and saw it was Giana calling.

"One of our teams will be pursuing your disciple."

Then the call ended.

John's perpetually icy expression finally showed a hint of anxiety.

Two matters had collided at once, and neither was good news.

Not to mention how outrageous and dangerous the mission from his Senior Sister Schneider was, just the team sent by Giana was not to be trifled with; it might even be the dissenters she wanted to eliminate.

In that case, could Zhang Jie really handle it?

He didn't know; he could only make a call to ask for his thoughts.

At this moment, Zhang Jie was speeding down the road, blasting upbeat music. He didn't even notice when his phone vibrated.

It wasn't until the music gradually faded, preparing to change songs, that Zhang Jie heard his phone vibrate. He reached out and picked it up.

Looking at the contact name, a smile appeared on Zhang Jie's face, "My dear Master, do you have any instructions?"

There was a long silence on the other end of the phone before John slowly said, "The Italian Mafia will be sending people to hunt you down. It should be happening soon."

Before Zhang Jie could speak, John continued, "There's a mission in Russia that I hope you can take on. It's very high-risk, but the reward is also substantial—2.5 million usd upon completion."

Then, there was another long silence on the other end of the phone.

"For the second mission, you can consider it yourself. Whether you take it or not is up to you; I actually don't wish for you to take it."

After a long pause, John finally said this.

By all accounts, he didn't want Zhang Jie to take on the second mission because the survival rate was simply too low.

But after listening to John's words, Zhang Jie was silent for a moment, then said with a smile, "2.5 million is a lot! It's enough for me to spend for a long time. Can you help me ask if it's after tax?"

Zhang Jie's tone was deliberately light, but John could hear Zhang Jie's true feelings at the moment.

"Master, someone told me yesterday that there was a mission in Russia that needed me to take, with a reward of 1.5 million usd."

Zhang Jie directly told John about that call from yesterday and also mentioned his inquiries to Veronica and the ICA.

"ICA? How did they find you?"

John, of course, knew what the ICA organization was, but why would anyone hire ICA members?

"Alright, don't think so much. When soldiers come, we block them; when water comes, we cover it with earth. There will always be a way."

Zhang Jie said, comforting him.

"Are you sure you want to go to Russia? If you don't want to go, I can refuse on your behalf."

John's words were as calm as ever, but they revealed his unique concern.

Zhang Jie didn't speak, but he knew this might be an opportunity for him. However, he also knew that if he didn't go, John would probably have to go instead.

So he agreed without hesitation.

"I'll go. I haven't been to Russia yet anyway."

Hearing Zhang Jie say this in a relaxed tone, John felt quite conflicted.

This kid, why does he always have to imitate his Senior Brother?

"Okay, I'll send you the information."

Since Zhang Jie had already agreed, John found it inconvenient to say anything more.

After hanging up the phone, Zhang Jie looked at the constantly approaching and receding scenery outside the window and suddenly laughed.

"Oh, these missions are like persistently urge (death persistently urge, urging one to die), one after another, never letting anyone rest. But it's also good; at least there's money to spend."

Although he wasn't considered a very professional assassin yet, the things he had experienced since finishing his special training were not what an ordinary assassin would go through.

Just consider them necessary hardships on the path to growth.

In Zhang Jie's opinion, among these two missions, the one in Russia was probably the most difficult.

As for the Mafia's pursuit, hehe, since John informed him, it meant it wasn't that difficult; just kill them and be done with it.

Shaking off the jumbled thoughts in his mind, Zhang Jie continued driving on the highway towards Concord.

At 9 PM on June 27th, Zhang Jie returned to the Sacrifice Squad's secret base.

However, what he didn't know was that although he had assassinated Silas Webb, his information had still been leaked.

The female companion had completely gone mad and couldn't reveal any information, but the surveillance cameras in the theater had fully transmitted Zhang Jie's appearance to the gang Silas belonged to.

"This is the person who killed Silas!"

Sitting in the conference room, one of the grim-faced subordinates roared, pointing at Zhang Jie's photo on the projector.

Another older man, however, was unhurried, "Andrew, control your temper."

Then, after glancing around the conference room, he asked, "The assassin has been found. Who is willing to avenge Silas?"

No one else spoke, including the usually most hot-tempered Andrew, but two young men sitting in the back row raised their hands.

"We'll go."

Anton looked at the two young men and nodded. The two young men then exited the conference room.

Meanwhile, Andrew, sitting to the side, seemed lost in thought.

"Silas is dead, but our gang cannot be without a leader. Until a new leader is elected, I will temporarily assume Silas's duties,"

Anton said, tapping the table. No one objected.

"Then the next item on the agenda is how to deal with the Crocodile Gang."

Everyone's eyes were fixed on Anton.
