The Second Light was quiet as usual.
Caelen was at the door, and Elenora was upstairs in the small room with the round table, the window, and the lantern. The familiar sequence of their second meeting had begun to settle into the practiced rhythm of a third.
Elenora rose as they entered.
"Bruce. Kael. Theron. Please, sit."
They did.
Her gaze settled on Kael, and her eyebrows rose slightly. "You crossed to D today."
"This afternoon."
"Congratulations. That's one of the fastest climbs I've seen from an F-rank arrival in a long time."
"Thank you."
She turned to Bruce. "Your report?"
Bruce delivered it concisely. His meeting with Grave. The questions about his old life, Sophie, Kael, and Theron. How their conversation had only turned to the larger questions during the final portion of the three hours.
