Ava's head was hung low as tears escaped her eyes.
"You saved me…" she muttered in a shaky voice. "No one has ever saved me… I had no one to…"
More tears escaped before she slowly looked up at him, his eyes still closed.
"Thank you," she whispered genuinely, wiping her eyes with the back of her sleeves.
"Everyone is worried about you. I was expecting to meet your aunt and cousin here, but they weren't here. But Clara introduced me to the doctor as your wife, it's strange to be addressed as your wife" she continued, still talking and not even realizing she was blabbing on until the door suddenly flew open and Clara walked into the room.
Ava stood up out of impulse, like she had been caught doing something she wasn't supposed to.
Clara stared at her curiously but said nothing. Her eyes shifted to Damian lying on the hospital bed, and her eyes immediately grewbwide in shock.
"Mr. Cross!" she exclaimed and immediately hurried to his side.
