Chapter 53 - Blind Bet

So what's in the letter?

Oli: Huh?

Todor: You heard me right.

Oli: It's nothing to do with you.

Todor: You know in the last few games you were saved so that you win, is that a coincidence? Does the letter have anything with it?

Oli: Maybe. Okay, I think it's getting late, so I go to my room.

Todor: Yeah. Do that.

The day after tomorrow

Now that there are only 10 players here, the hotel is a lot more quiet, you can almost see no one around, but this morning is different, only because it's now breakfast. Bandeer is asleep at his table, it seems like he must be dreaming about something.

Bandeer: Kuku... ku... ku...

The atmosphere is tense, almost no one wanted Oli to stay in the game this long. The referee suddenly shows up before anyone could leave.

Referee No.1: Good to see you all here! Please everyone sit back down, I have something important to tell. I'm sure all of you have been waiting for this in the past two days and sorry that it took this long, but here we are now. As you probably think, I will introduce you the next game! But... Before that, Bandeer! Could you wake up please?

Bandeer: Hmmm, aghh, Come on, let me sleep a little. Uh? Is it the referee?

Referee No.1: Yes it is! Great! Now that everyone is paying attention now, as I said earlier, let me introduce you the new game! This one is called...

"Blind Bet"

Setup: There will be two matches overall. The game will be played outside, behind the hotel, in a makeshift that is constructed only to make this game possible.

Type of game: Betting game / Gambling

Players: In a match, 5 people will play. Everyone against everyone.

Game length: There will be 10 rounds in a game, and every round is 2 minute long, plus there will be a 2 minute break. 22 minutes overall.

Break: Between the 5th and 6th round, players will be able to communicate and see each other. They will be on the same level when this happens and the walls will move away from between the rooms.

Makeshift: It's a really important part of this game. This makes it possible to make sure the betting will actually be blind! This is specifically constructed only to play this game, it has five small rooms, in every one of it, there will be one player, the players will be separated during the game so you can't communicate and couldn't know how much the other players bets. After the players get inside their place, every room will be lifted up in the air in different heights, just to make sure that you not just that you will not speak to them, but also can't morse code them by knocking on the walls. All walls are also soundproof. In your place, there will be a monitor and a card reader.

Monitor: Will show after every round the winners and who betted and how much.

Card reader: You will use this to bet. It will be automatically turned on when it detects a card to read it, but if the recognition for some reason wouldn't work, there is also a button that starts it.

Betting: Everyone will bet with cards. Cards have different bet values. There are cards that are worth 1, 2, 3, 4 and 5. Every player will have two cards of every value, meaning that for the 10 rounds, everyone will have 30 value to bet with. Be careful! If you bet any value, any card, you will lose them either you win or lose the bet. At the end of every round, the player with the highest bet will gain one "Winner Bet", in case of a tie in a round, no one gets one.

Winner Bets: After the match, the one who has the most of this will be the winner, if multiple players have the same amount, then the viewers will be able to vote on who they want to not be eliminated. The one getting the most votes wins.

It's not allowed to: Break anything in your space, to not let other players use the cards they want to use, violence (for example in between the 5th and 6th round), leave the makeshift during the game and hacking. Entering or being in the makeshift while not officially participating in a match. You all know what will happen if you choose to do any of it. Instant elimination.

Don't forget! Only one player can win in a match, so there will only be 2 players remaining after this game! You can look at this match as the Semi-Final of Big Win Chance Game!

Referee No.1: I think this is all, does anyone have any questions?

Lior: So this means the referees will not be present physically?

Referee No.1: The referees will be outside the makeshift and will looking you through the cameras to make sure no one will make anything forbidden.

Lior: When will we play?

Referee No.1: Tomorrow afternoon.

Lior: Why so late?

Referee No.1: The workers still need to assemble the makeshift.

...

Referee No.1: Okay, so any other questions? No? Then have a good time! See you soon!

The referee walks away but Oli follows him this time and after they are away from the main hall.

Oli: Hey referee.

Referee No.1: Oli, you have questions?

Oli: No, not really. I want you to ask about the contract that Greg gave to you.

Referee No.1: Sure. Follow me.

The referee leads Oli to a room that other players cannot get in.

Referee No.1: This is the contract Greg gave me. He said it is for only you when you will ask for it.

Oli: Okay... Shit.. So this is why? I really hate you... Greg, but at the same time I should thank you...

Oli signs the contract.

Oli: Okay, I did it, so how Greg's planning to do this?

Referee No.1: I don't know.

Oli: You don't? I thought you had cameras all over the hotel.

Referee No.1: No, we can't have any in any of the bathrooms, Greg only gave me this.

Oli: That is... an UV flashlight?

Referee No.1: He also said that it needs to be used on the letter, the one that you have right now.

Oli flashes the letter and the missing part of the puzzle goes to its place. If it's really true, then Oli needs to act very soon, this is his opportunity.

The message that is only visible under UV light:

Team up with Bandeer. I only came up with him being not rich anymore, it's a lie. Use the same strategy as Todor using against you, promise money to the players if they help you, more money than Todor does.

-Greg
