Tell us we did a good job, and the rest of the day would glow with positive energy.

That was how low maintenance we were. A single "I appreciate all your hard work" could carry us for days, sometimes longer.

Getting back to the point, I chose not to dwell on how easily she put me at ease. After a few more exchanges, our conversation came to an end.

I drove back toward the guild building, staying alert the entire way, half-expecting someone to tail me. There was none.

Our conversation replayed in my mind as I drove.
