"Glad we could meet up so quickly."
"Yes... you really saved me. Thank you, Holy Angel-sama."
I don't know how many times today I've finally felt at peace.
I gave Yukina her uniform, and for Lala, I bought her a new outfit made of regular bulletproof fiber, not the nanomachine one Peke made, and had her change into it.
I'd already explained the situation to the shop, so it was all settled. But it had taken so long that it was already past 3 p.m.
If we went to watch the matches now, they'd probably be over. And besides, I had to make sure Lala got back safely. I was responsible for dragging her away from her bodyguards.
"What? I'm not going home yet!"
"Please don't say that. Your bodyguards, your dad, and your mom must be worried."
Lala was throwing a tantrum. I didn't expect her to just listen, but I couldn't have her run away from us, either.
"By the way, why were you waiting outside the store, senpai?"
"I didn't want any unnecessary trouble."
I had a feeling something would happen if I went in.
But even though I stayed out for that reason, an even greater opponent approached me.
"Senpai? What's wrong?"
"...Nah, it's nothing."
This wasn't the place to talk about it. It would only cause confusion if I did. In any case, it's a certainty that I can rely on him if something happens.
If it were another Kamen Rider besides Kadoya Tsukasa, I wonder if I would feel this same sense of security.
"Is this what a true hero is...?"
He's a true legend. I should get his autograph the next time I see him... though I wonder if I'll have the chance. We'll probably be in a fight.
"So, should we contact the Deviluke embassy now?"
"I SAID, I'm not going home!"
"Lala-san? Really, let's not be so selfish. It'll be too late if something happens."
"And if you're not going home... where do you plan on staying tonight?"
Both Holy Angel-sama and Kokkoro tried to persuade her, but it had no effect.
"It's fine, it's fine! I just had a great idea!"
"A great idea, you say?"
Yukina tilted her head, about to ask what it was, when it happened.
"We've finally found you, Lala-sama!"
"Oh."
That voice, a super veteran voice actor's voice that stuck in my ears.
I looked over and saw a tall, handsome man with his subordinates. It was a man I knew.
"Ah, Zastin!"
At Lala's voice, Holy Angel-sama stood up.
"Who is that?"
"The captain of the Deviluke Royal Guard. He's probably here to take Lala back."
I answered Yukina's question in a low voice.
The pressure he gave off. In the original story, Zastin was a bit of a gag character, but he wasn't the captain of the Royal Guard for nothing. It would be foolish to doubt that this wasn't the real deal.
Among the subordinates behind him were the people Yukina had sent flying earlier.
"I am Seiten-ko, the representative of Japan at Academy Island."
"Seiten-ko-sama. Thank you for protecting Lala-sama."
"No. I'm glad we could safely hand over Lala-sama as well."
It seemed we were all going to end this without asking or saying anything unnecessary. It was probably wise not to pry.
About us taking Lala away, and about the royal guards easily having Lala taken from them.
After we all bowed to each other, Zastin walked towards me, then to Lala, who was sitting in her seat.
"Come now, Lala-sama! Let's return with us!"
"No way! I'm not going back! A reason not to go back has come up!"
"...A reason not to go back?"
"Master? Where are you going?"
"Oh, just to the restroom."
Feeling my life was in danger, I tried to naturally get up from my seat. I'd seen this scene somewhere before. The situation was completely different from the original story, and there were no flags for it at all.
But still, there was a 'flow'. I was being carried along by that 'flow'.
I needed to somehow escape from that flow...
"I've fallen in love with Sho who is right here!"
"WHAT?!"
I couldn't.
I wanted to keep a connection with her, but not one this deep after only knowing her for one day!
I was already close to my breaking point with everything else, and now Deviluke on top of that?!
"So I'm going to marry Sho and live here! So I'm not going home!"
Without me having a chance to interrupt, Lala loudly proclaimed her decision.
At that volume, every passerby turned to look at us. With her shouting about marriage in the middle of the street, it was hard to ignore.
"I see, so that's what this is about..."
And Zastin started to nod obediently.
Why wasn't he more suspicious? Given Lala's personality, maybe this kind of sudden, outlandish behavior was commonplace.
"If you get it, then go home and tell Papa! I'm not going back, and I have no intention of going to any marriage interviews."
"... ... H-hey, Lala-san?! What are you saying?! This is so sudden!"
Yukina, who had unfrozen, retorted.
"Sorry, Yukina. But it's okay."
"Nothing about this is okay!"
"Was your 'idea' to stay at Sho-san's house...?"
Holy Angel-sama asked, and she was met with a full-on smile and a nod of affirmation.
"Of course! We're getting married, after all! So there's no problem with us living together, right?"
"There is!"
"Besides, Master's house already has a lot of women living there..."
"Huh, Yozuki-san...?"
"It's a share house! It's a share house, Holy Angel-sama!"
I somehow managed to deflect Holy Angel-sama's suspicious gaze.
"Oh, really! Then it's totally fine if one more person moves in!"
"It's not fine at all!"
Lala was no longer listening to anyone. She really was a selfish princess.
"...Lala-sama, if you'll forgive Peke, it seems I may have understood your true intentions..."
Peke, who had been silent in power-saving mode, spoke up.
"Peke, don't say anything weird. I really am in love with Sho."
I knew Lala's intentions, too.
In the original story, she did the same thing to the protagonist, Yuuki Rito.
She wanted to use the reason of having a person she loved to be freed from her restrictive royal life, various studies, and marriage interviews.
The problem was, why was I, who hadn't set any major flags, chosen as that person? I guess it could have been anyone.
I was probably just a convenient person.
But there was no way I could leave this spot after she declared we were getting married. I couldn't have a conversation about myself happening without me, and besides, Zastin's subordinates were already blocking my path so I wouldn't run away.
"But I cannot return like this."
Zastin, who had been silently thinking, spoke up.
"I, Zastin, cannot return having approved a marriage with an unknown person. I would not be able to face the King. Besides, if you are to marry, it is a matter concerning the entire country. If Lala-sama's will is firm, then he must be introduced to the King."
That made sense.
"Aww..."
Lala's mood was visibly deflated.
"That's only natural. If he is approved, he must come to our country and learn the ways of a king. From what I see, he is a regular citizen. I have no way of knowing if he is fit to be the King of Deviluke."
"Then what should we do? Sho said he wants to live here?"
"Yeah, I did say that..."
But that was, you know? The marriage thing was completely outside my thoughts!
Besides, wasn't Lala's desire to leave the palace greater than my desire to live here?
"Hmm..."
Zastin stared at me intently.
"You, if you truly wish to marry Lala-sama, show me your spirit. I will test you right here and now to see if you are worthy of being introduced to the King."
"Hey, hold on! This is--"
Faster than I could speak, a flash of a blade attacked me.
"Hoh...!"
"I hate to say it, but...!"
I used my Cosmic Holy Sword Space Caliber to block Zastin's lightsaber.
"I've been expecting this would happen since I first saw you!"
"We've never met before, have we!"
He overpowered me with his strength and sent me flying into the air.
"Oh crap! Is he really trying to kill me?!"
"He's serious. He's a tough opponent."
Even Replica-sensei, who was set up, gave me a stern warning.
He might be stronger than a mediocre Servant. The Deviluke Royal Guards really were on a different level.
"That's not magic. It's not sorcery either."
"It's not a superpower. It's the Deviluke bloodline!"
The people of the Deviluke Kingdom, located on a hot spot, have tails that normal Homo sapiens don't have, and an unknown superpower.
And on top of that, they have an amazing level of scientific technology.
"I guess I have to fight an unknown power with an unknown power!"
"I think most of the power you have is unknown..."
"Don't sweat the small stuff!"
I accessed my house's hangar.
"What's wrong! If you won't come to me, then I will... hm?"
A bind wrapped around Zastin's body. It was a replica of a magical spell.
"What a pathetic spell... Is that all you've got?"
"Zastin-san! Stop it! Not in a place like this...! And he is my bodyguard! If he gets hurt, it'll affect things from tomorrow onwards...!"
"Don't worry, Seiten-ko-sama. A barrier has already been set up."
Before I realized it, everyone who wasn't a part of this had disappeared.
"You stay out of this. Take everyone to a safe place."
"Yes, sir!"
The subordinates used an anti-gravity device to float and moved Yukina and the others to the rooftop of a nearby building.
"You're quite considerate. Not wanting to involve other people."
"Of course. This is a crucial ritual to determine if you are worthy of meeting the King. If you take this half-heartedly, you won't get off with just a few injuries!"
I really wish you'd just listen to me... but I'm going to have to calm him down first!
"Here I come!"
"Alright--OPEN GET!"
"Wha--!?"
Three machines appeared from behind me. Three small, different colored aircraft.
Get Machine (Eagle Go) (Original)
One of the three machines that make up the Getter Robo. When the three machines transform and combine, they form the super robot 'Getter Robo', which is powered by Getter Rays.
As usual, it's a powered suit that wraps around my body. When it's combined, it's about 2 meters tall.
Get Machine (Jaguar Go) (Original)
One of the three machines that make up the Getter Robo. When the three machines transform and combine, they form the super robot 'Getter Robo'.
Get Machine (Bear Go) (Original)
One of the three machines that make up the Getter Robo. When the three machines transform and combine, they form the super robot 'Getter Robo'.
Side Basher
Kamen Rider Kaixa's personal machine.
It's usually a motorcycle with a sidecar, but it can transform into battle mode.
These were items I got as a reward for passing the qualifiers. Four of the six. I'd already given the other two away, so I didn't have them anymore.
I'm going with this one!
"CHANGE, GETTER!"
The three Get Machines transformed and combined, wrapping around my body. The overflowing Getter Rays acted on each of the three machines' metal, causing them to evolve and change shape like clay.
"ONE!"
The result was the first form of Getter Robo, Getter-1. The red armor and matching Getter Wings fluttered like a cape.
"A mechanical robot, is it!"
"Don't call it just a robot! It's a super robot! GETTER TOMAHAWK!"
A crude axe flew from its shoulder. The Getter Tomahawk, a weapon that symbolized the Getter Robo.
Our weapons crossed.
A powerful, hammering swing was put into the tomahawk. It firmly blocked Zastin's sword, which could easily cut through simple steel plates.
My power was also on par with Zastin's.
"I see, it seems to be a good machine!"
"Yeah--THANKS!"
I swung my arm with all my might.
Zastin yielded to the force and retreated.
"TOMAHAWK BOOMERANG!"
"Foolish to throw your weapon away!"
Zastin knocked the boomerang away with a single swing of his sword.
As Zastin charged straightforwardly towards me, I smirked.
"OPEN GET!"
The Get Machines that had combined with my body separated and swarmed towards Zastin. At the same time, I lost my ability to float and started to fall to the ground.
"ZAKERU!"
I fired an electric shock to buy time for the Get Machines to gather again.
"CHANGE, GETTER--TWO!"
The Get Machines gathered again. They transformed and combined in the short time before I landed. But the form wasn't Getter-1. It was Getter-2, wielding a giant drill in its left hand.
Getter's ground combat form. It could run on the ground at super speed and crush enemies with its right power arm and left drill.
He didn't have much experience fighting an opponent with a drill as a weapon. Zastin frowned at the continuous stabs from the roaring drill.
When I felt a sign of a counterattack from him, I immediately distanced myself and charged again.
My speed on the ground was clearly faster than his. But I couldn't finish the attack.
"You have speed, but not enough power!"
"If you want to see power--OPEN GET!"
It seemed Zastin wanted to see my power, so he waited for me to transform this time.
"CHANGE, GETTER--THREE!"
The form changed again.
Getter-3. It was a form for underwater combat with treads instead of two legs, but it had the greatest strength of all the Getters.
Its freely extending arms ensnared Zastin. They held down the arm he had raised to swing his sword and his feet, which were struggling to escape from the restraint.
It lifted him without a problem and,
"Woaahhhhh!?"
...threw him into the air.
"OPEN GET! CHAAANGE, GETTER--ONE!"
I transformed back into Getter-1. Instead of flying and chasing him, I unleashed Getter's ultimate attack.
"GETTER BEAM!"
A concentrated Getter Ray was fired from Getter-1's abdomen.
"Wooooahhhhhh!!"
Zastin, even while being thrown, managed to get his footing, swung his sword, and, of all things, cut the beam in half.
"Gahhh!"
He was a little charred, but he landed firmly on both feet.
"Is that all you have...!"
"Fine. Then from here on, I'll add some dark magic--"
"ZASTIN, STOP!!"
"Pfft!"
"Oh..."
Lala's voice of protest, or rather, her protest tackle, hit him.
"Stop already. I get it, I'll go home today."
"If you understand, then that's good...!"
I think that one hit from you was pretty bad, though. W-what power... Is that stronger than a Getter Beam?
"Sho, I'm sorry about today."
With that one word from Lala, the battle came to an end.
---------
"Everyone, I apologize for the trouble."
"Then everyone, see you later!"
Zastin bowed his head, and Lala waved as they left.
"Are all princesses like that...?"
"I wonder..."
Yukina, who was probably the most exhausted today, put her tiredness into words.
While I didn't have many examples, the princesses I'd met this month were all like that.
But still.
"Hmm..."
'See you later,' huh.
With those thoughts, my bodyguarding mission for the day came to an end.
