"Who goes there"?
A deep voice resounded from one corner of the courtroom.
A few moments later, a group Argus Clan guards stumped into the courtroom with various weapons on their hand. The leading guard wore heavy armor with an element. Where they came from was quite strange because the jade wall parted way for them to pass.
When the guards entered the courtroom, they were surprised to see a slave standing casually on the courtroom stage- a place reserved to only the Argus Clan patriarch. Suspicious he walked toward riven narrowing his eyes into a slit.
There was silence as both party just stared at each other, no one talked. The guard was wondering how riven might have entered here while Riven was angry at how the guard was looking at him he was also wondering if he might have stumbled to the exit of the mining site by accident.
This silence persists for a few breaths until
"which group are you?"
The guard asked with utmost seriousness on his voice.
Riven was momentarily lost at first but then he remember what the guard means- he was asking which slave group he is part of. This revelation caused his blood to boil, he was so angry that he almost lost control and slapped the guard on the face.
But at the last minute he was able to control himself. Holding his trembling hand, he answered
"I'm part group B and C sir"
Seeing how Riven was trembling, the guard thought riven must be afraid of them and because of that he dropped his guard against riven not regarding him as a threat at all.
Then one of the guard step forward with a frown and said
"Kid, if you are one of those responsible for mining and farming, then what are you doing here? Because here is pretty far from the place slaves like you are a sigh to"
This is the question Riven has been waiting for, he answered
"Sir, I was actually inspecting the herb gardens sometime ago when I was attacked by Wang and his boys. They beat me up and thought I was dead then they dropped me here.
Riven answered stating how he entered here because if he did not say it all this guards would be suspicious because looking at the guards uniform this particular area of the mining mountain is located at the inner region of the Argus estate.
The guards were stunned, not expecting something like this happened. They were not surprised at Wang and his boys trying to kill a slave it is somthing that occurs almost regularly, they were surprised that a slave managed to survive the slave is not even a cultivatorbut a trash slave. Also they believed what riven had told them because of how how tattered he look on the Argus clan slave uniform.
"Kid how did you offend wang?"
One of the guards asked intrigued
"Because I reported them to Mr Han"
Mr Han is the name of the Argus clan Alchemist.
Riven gave a simple reply and did not even bothered to look at the guard.
This cause the guard to become displeased and snorted in response.
Seeing the new tension, the head guard gesture to riven to move while the rest guard make way for him to pass through, riven immediately started walking though unsure of where they are going.
When they got to the jade wall where the guards had come from earlier, riven started observing it curiously because it looks just like every other jade wall, so how does it opened just now. That was until the head guard near it and pull out a token from his sleeve which he then place against the wall causing it to slide open again just like it did before.
As the jade wall was sliding open, Riven couldn't help but turn back and look at the courtroom one last time because he probably wouldn't be seeing it for a while that is if he would ever see it again. In this courtroom a lot of strange things happen to him, was it Mr Xiao attack to devour his soul, or was it was it the awakening of the seven pillars or the recovering of the first fragments of the Celestial Slaying Sword or the gettingthe cultivation technique. Everything happened so fast to him that it felt like he was dreaming. Now that everything has settled he definitely did not want to wake up from this dream anymore.
After passing it they appeared in what looks like a corridor, but this time unlike the other corridors he have seen, here there are people. Though they are mostly guards but there are other people among them as well.
Looking at the people riven knew that every single one of them are cultivators. After gaining that fragments of memory he can now tell a cultivator from a mortal. He can perceive spiritual energy and every single one of this people has spiritual energy on them.
The moment thses people saw the guard, they were surprised and one of them an elderly man asked
"Was this the person that was screaming a while ago?"
Instead of answering, the head guard just motion to the elderly man not to ask any questions.
He then lead riven through the corridor as they walk deeper.
This corridor was really long because they've been walking f9r sometime now and yet no it seems to stretch on forever. Riven is now feeling impatient he can't wait to get to the outside world so that he can try the cultivation method and observe the the sword fragment very well.
Thinking about the cultivation method, he thought
" My dantian has been destroyed, how can I cultivate when I can gather spiritual energy in my body. Or would I just have to be Tempering my cell bones and body?"
This is another question that has been bothering him, he can't cultivate because his dantian was destroyed so doesn't that means that this cultivation method is now a waste to him.
Unknowingly when he was lost in thought, they've existed the corridor and appeared in what looks like a store room. Here riven can see a lot of the Argus clan young maters and mistress all dressed in luxurious robes adorned in gold and silver.
"What a rich spoilt brats "
Riven commented secretly, but unfortunately one of the guard leading him heard it and snapped
"How dare you, a little and lowly slave like you dear called our young masters and mistress spoilt brats. You really don't know the difference between heaven and earth"
In response to the though riven just scoulfu and did not even bothered with him.
This cause the guard to become angry and the other guards to narrow their eyes because they all thought the right thing for riven to do was apologize. But who would have thought that not only would him not apologize he e en has a mockery expression on his face.
The leading guard just shook his head and started wondering what riven might have gone through to turn him into a retard.
Yes he thought riven might have lost his mind in that place because he even if he is wearing the slave uniform his bearing and temperament is not that of a slave.
A moment later, they came out of the store room and appeared on a narrow roadway leading to the Argus clan plaza.
The Argus clan plaza, this place is were general meetings or gathering are carried out, today people are plenty here chair and tables are neatly arranged and filled with exotic dishes.
Riven saw people of high class that normally he is not worthy to see, they wear cloths that cost so much that he not even dare to imagine their price.
Riven can not help but paint a faint image of wealthy people dining together then a slave been excuted by several guards came passing.
"What an eye catching sight"
He lamented.
After exiting the plaza, they've now enter the Argus Clan outer region, a place were only the unimportant people stay.
Looking at where they are going, riven immediately guss where the guards are taking him to, they are taking him to Mr Cheng.
Riven couldn't help but frown because he is suspicious that Mr Cheng might be the one that set that encounter between him and wangs a few days ago so he is definitely going to blame him.
A few strides later, they enter Mr Cheng's office. The office is just like it had been five years ago nothing has changed more, it is still as simple as it was.
However the moment they entered Mr Cheng office wang was there sitting drinking with Mr Cheng. And coincidentally he was also looking at the door so the moment riven who was at the front of the guards entered his and wang gaze luck to each other.
