Chapter 35 - Butterfly Effect and System Update

The butterfly effect brought by Kayce was tiny, merely causing a ripple.

For example, James Harden was drafted fourth overall by the Kings. Also, because Jonny Flynn was injured during an NCAA game and didn't participate in the draft, the Minnesota Timberwolves drafted Evans and Rubio.

Of course, the unlucky Curry was still snatched by the Golden State Warriors, as Nelson remained fond of guard players.

As soon as the results were announced, New York Knicks fans immediately erupted, with boos filling the arena. They had been promised a three-point barrage in the Big Apple!

"F*** the Warriors! You stole Curry! F*** you!" an agitated New York Knicks fan was directly escorted away by security personnel.

Old Curry's face turned dark. The whole family had assumed Curry would definitely go to the New York Knicks. After all, they had clearly expressed their intentions during the tryouts, and Old Curry had been busy with this matter for over a year!

As a result, Curry was drafted by the Golden State Warriors, who also had Monta Ellis. Were they planning to play with two point guards?

Although Curry smiled and posed for photos on stage, he was already cursing internally, 'I didn't even want to try out, and you still picked me.'

Kayce almost laughed at this scene. Perhaps this was true love: no matter how much you refuse, I will still have you. Your heart is with the New York Knicks? Sorry, the Warriors only want you.

Griffin and Harden were both excited, giving interviews. After all, they were about to start making money, so how could they not be happy?

Kayce was also being interviewed, but by reporters from China. Zhang Weiping, the veteran from CCTV, was about to interview him.

Zhang Weiping directly asked, "Kayce, are you satisfied with your draft position today?"

"I think it's pretty good. I had already had in-depth discussions with the Thunder before. Of course, missing out on the Los Angeles Clippers is also a bit of a regret. Dunleavy is a good coach, and we had very good discussions before."

Kayce said whatever came to mind. Zhang Weiping heard his rather conventional answer and immediately asked a sharper question.

"What are your expectations for your rookie season? I know you played very well in the NCAA. Will you need to adapt to the NBA?"

Kayce thought for a moment, then replied with a smile,

"I think I'll set a small goal for myself first: win Rookie of the Year! And in my opinion, there isn't much difference between the NBA and NCAA. I think I'll be fine."

This statement directly stunned Zhang Weiping. Goodness, a 'small goal' right off the bat? He quickly changed the subject.

"Is there anything you'd like to say to the Chinese fans? After all, everyone has high expectations for you!"

"Haha, you don't need to be so polite with me. I know everyone doesn't know me well right now, but in basketball, performance speaks for itself. If everyone truly likes me, remember to vote me into the All-Star Game!"

This completely flustered the venerable Zhang Weiping. He was talking about going straight to the All-Star Game; this young man sure could boast.

Kayce saw the NBA staff waving him over for the group photo and immediately bid farewell to his compatriots. This draft was finally coming to an end, and he was heading to Oklahoma City.

Finally, NBA Commissioner David Stern stood in the center, with Curry and Rubio on his left and right. Kayce stood beside Curry, and the others lined up. The 2009 Draft was immortalized in this group photo.

After Kayce said goodbye to his casual acquaintances, he also had to bid farewell to his family. The Dutton Family couldn't leave Yellowstone Ranch for too long, as the neighbors around were not to be trifled with.

"Kayce, don't worry about things at home. Anne is a good girl, don't break her heart." Joanna hugged Kayce, reminding her youngest son in a whisper.

"I understand. You should also rest." Kayce looked at his adoptive mother in this life, remembering all her kindness.

The men's farewells were not as sentimental. Old Li, Roy, and Jamie simply patted each other on the shoulder; everything was unsaid.

"I'm taking Anne to London to handle some things. When you go to Oklahoma City, remember to rent a big house. Don't try to save money!" Beth secretly handed Kayce a card, signaling him to take it quietly.

"I know, you all be careful on your journey!" Kayce took the card, indicating that he was fine.

After Kayce sent his family off, Britney patted her chest and let out a sigh of relief, "Finally, it's just the two of us. I always feel a bit suppressed around Joanna. Li looks so fierce!"

Kayce pulled Britney, chuckling, "Actually, they are all very warm and hospitable. You'll know when you get a chance to visit Yellowstone Ranch. Let's go home and rest. Tomorrow, we'll record a single at Big Machine Records!"

"That's great! I must get some rest tonight. I'll be in my best condition tomorrow!" Britney started cheering joyfully.

After returning home, Britney went to sleep obediently. Kayce also lay on the big bed, waiting for midnight to pass, then immediately entered the Dream Space. After the draft ended, he felt a surge of energy, indicating new functions had likely appeared.

Indeed, after Kayce summoned the holographic projection control panel, he immediately saw the 'Multiplayer Training' option, and the '1-on-1 Training' roster had been updated, with all Thunder players now selectable.

Kayce immediately tried out the multiplayer training, but was a little disappointed. Currently, he could only play internal training games with the Thunder, which didn't help him much.

"Perhaps there will be new changes when the NBA season officially starts. Training games are not bad either!" Kayce comforted himself.

In the Dream Space, Kayce slowly exhaled. Tonight's training would start with an internal team game!

Big Machine Records' recording studio is in Brooklyn. The artistic atmosphere here is good, but security personnel are needed, otherwise there can sometimes be safety issues.

Britney explored the recording studio like a curious baby, finding everything fascinating.

"Kayce, do you really not need a producer? I think you could consider releasing an album later!" Chapman was still trying to persuade Kayce.

"Forget it, I still want to play basketball well. At most, I'll release three singles, so I don't need a producer. When I want to release an album, then you can find me a reliable one."

"Alright then, you can't stand me up again. You can't waste your talent!"

Seeing Chapman about to nag again, Kayce immediately called Britney and the sound engineer over.

"Guys, let's get to work! I'm very strict when it comes to music, so be prepared!"

Kayce had prepared "We Don't Talk Anymore" for himself. This was a song Kayce had chosen from a large collection of music after the music function was unlocked in the Dream Space system.

The style suited him well. Anyway, they were all catchy pop songs with similar melodies, and handsome men and beautiful women were always more popular. This was also why Kayce brought Britney to help.

After all, this is a world were people judge by appearance.
