Chapter 57 - The Regular Season Officially Begins

Kayce was almost immune to Chapman's nagging; the guy had an incredibly keen nose for money, and Kayce trusted his judgment on that.

"Alright, buddy, just tell me what I need to do. The new season hasn't officially started yet, so we still have a little time."

Kayce interrupted Chapman's verbal assault, signaling his surrender.

"In a couple of days, a stylist will come over to help you change your clothes and accessories, and also fix that ordinary hairstyle of yours. Of course, the most important thing is to keep updating your video blog—just film your daily life!"

Chapman was very satisfied with Kayce's appearance; he looked lean in clothes and like a beast without them, definitely a favorite among the ladies.

"You call the shots, I'll cooperate fully!" Kayce readily agreed.

The two roughly discussed the promotion plan. After confirming everything, Chapman immediately started preparations. The motivation of money is boundless.

That evening, Kayce changed into a casual suit and drove to Russell's house. It seemed Nina had completely won Russell over, as they had already started living together.

"Hey, Kayce, you look incredibly handsome today! Didn't Britney come? I haven't been able to reach her lately."

Nina wore a fitted cocktail dress and looked very happy.

"She's doing postgraduate studies. Heaven knows what she's thinking, but she's completely buried herself in books!

Don't mind her slow replies; she gets fully immersed when she's focused on something. But she'll be back to normal in two months."

Kayce shrugged, replying helplessly. He knew all about Britney's little thoughts; seeing Anne doing her doctorate made her a bit jealous..

"Hehe, actually, we all know her personality. It seems we won't be seeing her in Oklahoma City much lately. Let's head to the pool, Russell and the others are all there!"

Nina chuckled and pointed the way for Kayce. It had to be said, Russell's house was well-decorated, without any nouveau riche vibes.

"Our protagonist, the handsome Kayce, has arrived! Let's raise a glass to him. God, believe me, if you show up at a nightclub, all the hot girls there won't refuse you!"

Durant seemed to have had quite a bit to drink; the guy was already a bit uninhibited.

"Haha, then we'll have to try it together tomorrow! Thanks everyone for coming. Cheers to you first!"

Kayce started drinking right away. His metabolism was fast, so getting him drunk was quite difficult.

All of the Thunder teammates had arrived. Seeing Kayce drink so freely, the atmosphere grew even more lively. He accepted every toast, drinking whenever offered.

Before Nina could bring her girlfriends over, they were already getting pretty wild.

By the time the group of girls arrived, Russell was already a bit tipsy, with one arm around Nina and the other raising his glass. Everyone knew he was about to give an opening toast.

"Guys, I'm truly grateful to Kayce. In college, I wasn't doing very well. I wasn't even a starter, and many people mocked my shooting!"

"But only Kayce kept training with me. It was after he took me to a party that I met Nina. So, on behalf of everyone, I officially welcome you to the Thunder family!"

"Let's all raise a glass to Kayce joining us!"

Kayce didn't say too many emotional words; today was for having fun. "It's all in the wine, cheers!"

Young people's parties basically consist of drinking, then playing some hype music, everyone jumping around, and if they hit it off, they have some fun after the party.

Kayce wouldn't have a chance have an after party fun time tonight; half the girls who came were familiar faces, all Britney's scheming best friends.

In the end, Kayce drank all his teammates, who couldn't hold their liquor, under the table! Durant nearly fell into the pool from drinking.

"Klay is still the one with good alcohol tolerance. I really miss life in Los Angeles a bit," Kayce was also a little tipsy.

The party lasted until late at night. Everyone went home groggily the next day, and they were going to party again that night. Durant was treating, and there would be plenty of hot girls!

Two days of decadent living didn't affect Kayce much, after all, he still had B-grade functional drinks in his Dream Fantasy Space to help him recover his physical condition.

However, Jeff Green was weak-legged for two days in subsequent training before he recovered.

"Alright, lads, you're in good shape today. This afternoon's video session is canceled, you get half a day off!"

Today was October 25th. Coach Brooks hadn't given the players any slack these past two days, constantly refining new tactics.

"Kayce, your trainer is very professional. How about introducing him to me?" Durant had been very interested ever since he visited Kayce's house and saw his private training team.

"No problem. The price is very high, but it's worth the money. You need to be mentally prepared for that. Also, Ansel and his team focus more on physical training; their shooting aspect might be a bit weaker."

Kayce spoke truthfully. How they negotiated would be up to Durant himself. Moreover, Ansel's network was not bad, so he could always help him find suitable people.

"Thanks, Bro, I'll give it more thought!" Durant patted Kayce's shoulder, indicating he understood.

This could be considered Kayce's influence on Durant: more professional trainers could better unearth his physical talents.

Look at Russell, he's getting stronger and stronger. His current trainer was introduced by Tony, and so far, the results are good, and both sides are very satisfied.

Kayce himself was also changing his diet structure under Wagner's advice, while methodically completing his muscle gain plan.

If he could train to James's physical condition, why bother with crossovers? Wouldn't a tank-like breakthrough be more satisfying? Breaking through, getting half a step ahead, and just bulldozing in—that was Kayce's dream.

The first game of the new season, the Thunder will host the Sacramento Kings. Kayce was very much looking forward to his home debut.

And James Harden seemed to be doing very well with the Kings. It was time to teach him a lesson; the winning streak couldn't be broken!

Chinese fans from across the ocean arrived in Oklahoma City on the 26th. With two days left until the game, they planned to first observe Oklahoma City fans' attitude towards Kayce and also take a little break.

Team stores can sometimes reflect a team's local popularity. Zhang Weiping watched many girls lining up to pay for Kayce's jerseys and couldn't help but say to the accompanying staff:

"It's really surprising, isn't it? I didn't expect Kayce to be so popular locally!"

"You probably didn't watch the remaining preseason games. American journalist have praised him very highly. In the last game, there was a dunk over Oden that has consistently had high viewership on video websites."

The accompanying staff had been reading analysis articles from American journalist and were a bit stunned to see them almost deifying Kayce.

"This is a good thing. Being able to adapt to the NBA and play here is considered a success. Tomorrow we must conduct a good interview. Haha, I'm really looking forward to tomorrow's game now."

Zhang Weiping liked talented players. The last player he was optimistic about, Sun Yue, failed to establish himself with the Los Angeles Lakers. Now he wanted to see Kayce's performance.

"Perhaps we will witness the birth of a genius," the staff member murmured to himself.

On October 28th, the 2009-2010 season officially kicked off, and Kayce would also embark on his new journey.
