Chapter 1 - The Vampire Diaries

(Before you start reading, two things to clarify: first, this is TVD, so expect toxic individuals. Second, don't expect the women the MC sleeps with to swear loyalty to him or something.)

(That's it—enjoy!)

— — — — — —

"WTF!"

On an ordinary night, Jack lay sprawled across his bed, aimlessly scrolling through TikTok on his phone.

"Wait—it's already 2 AM? Wasn't I about to close my phone and sleep half an hour ago? I swear it was only like 11…" Jack rubbed his head.

He knew short videos, especially TikTok, were basically digital drugs, but he couldn't stop himself from scrolling.

Pop

Jack was half-asleep, ready to finally shut off his phone, when a new notification popped up—an opinion poll.

With his chin resting on his palm, he lazily raised his long middle finger to click on the message.

The opinions popped up right away.

Curious, Jack scanned the cheats and went speechless. Most of them were useless, or would make you die faster than ever. Like a nuclear bomb. Why the hell would he need that? Sure, it would be nice to drop it on the ex who dumped him, but he'd die in the process. And her mom had nothing to do with it.

"Uhhh… why am I thinking about her beautiful mom again? Dammit. That must be because that damn woman dumped me saying I like older women… just slander. I love all women." He muttered, at least convincing himself.

"Anyway, the most really tempting option is the Death Note."

With it, Jack could be the image of justice in this corrupt world. He could become a nightmare for dirty politicians. But that'd be hidden hero stuff—no perks, no public reward. So that was out just after thinking about it.

Next, Jack narrowed his focus to two: the Twelve Talismans from Jackie Chan Adventures, or a Devil Fruit from One Piece. He weighed the possibilities.

After a few more breaths and a few more mental pros-and-cons, he clicked his choice. Then he waited...

"How childish. Like I'm actually gonna get a cheat just because I selected it." Jack muttered under his breath, annoyed.

"Huh?"

Suddenly, the phone in his hand glitched, the screen flickering with jagged black lines.

It was plugged in, too. Normally, he avoided holding it while charging—too much heat, too many horror stories about batteries exploding—but tonight he'd been too lazy to unplug it.

The screen froze, locked in a mess of static lines. Jack sighed, thumb hovering over the power button. "Great. I can't even turn it off."

He sat up, reaching to pull out the charging cable, when he noticed something strange.

The black lines weren't random anymore. They were… moving. Slowly rearranging themselves into shapes, letters maybe. Words.

And then the phone buzzed hard enough to rattle his palm.

The lines on screen had stopped rolling and locked into place:

-World: The Vampire Diaries

-Identity: Rich Orphan

-Cheat: Twelve Magical Talismans

"Huh. What the hell does this even mean? Is my phone ok or not? Dammit!"

Still holding the phone in one hand, he reached down to unplug the charger with the other.

Then—

BANG!

The phone exploded in his hand.

Normally, a phone blast wouldn't be fatal. But Jack was still gripping the 120W fast-charge cable, and the explosion exposed the copper wiring inside. The current surged straight into his body.

And just like that, Jack died — not from the blast, but from being electrocuted on the spot.

At least he wasn't worse than Kazuma.

...

..

.

"Hhhuh—where... am I?"

Jack shot up in bed, breathing hard. The room around him was unfamiliar — but clearly expensive. Whoever owned this place had money, that much was obvious.

He was about to get up and look around when a flood of memories hit him — the moment he'd been electrocuted, and something else: the image of the Twelve Talismans, slowly rotating in his mind.

Only three of them were glowing. Dog. Horse. Rabbit.

Jack thought back to what each one did.

With Horse, he'd have instant healing. Dog made him immortal. Rabbit gave him super speed.

"???" Jack just stared, speechless.

Was this seriously how people got Isekai'd these days? Not Truck-kun, not a random god killing you by mistake—just a crappy phone screen having a seizure? Figures.

At least his memories confirmed one thing: he really was in a new world. The year was 2009 now.

Jack grinned. "So... I can't die, I heal instantly, and if I can't win, I just run fast? That's basically invincible."

More memories followed — apparently a "welcome package" for his transmigration. This new body was basically an upgraded version of himself: sixteen years old, peak health, perfect height, perfect face, fit physique — the works.

And on top of that, he was now a rich orphan.

What was strange was how familiar the background of this life felt.

His father, Lee Chan, and his mother, Sara Wilkinson, had fallen in love, married, and had him—half American, half Asian. They'd struggled with his name at first until his dad, with a grin, called him Jackie Chan. Later, after years of teasing at school, it was shortened to just Jack.

In his previous life, his parents had died in an accident. The same tragedy existed here too, but with one difference: in this 2009 world, they'd been wealthy. And now there was a twist. His last living relative—a childless uncle from his father's side who'd moved overseas years ago—had also just passed away.

That uncle had lived in a quiet retirement town called Mystic Falls. With no heirs left, all his property—including a house—was passed down to Jack.

"Mystic Falls?"

"So... this really is The Vampire Diaries world, huh? Still not sure if that's the novel or the TV show..."

"Well, it doesn't matter. Most of what I know is just from short videos, after all."

After getting out of bed and freshening up, he began testing his new powers.

Just as he suspected, Horse Talisman healed any injury near-instantly. Even pain barely registered — adrenaline wouldn't even have time to kick in before the wound was gone.

Dog Talisman? Guaranteed he couldn't die, even if he wanted to.

Rabbit Talisman was trickier to test without proper equipment, but he could already tell he was faster. In many fanfics, the power of Rabbit could even slow time, so who knew where this could go?

With these three talismans as his safety net, Jack wasn't worried about Mystic Falls — or whatever dangers this "Vampire Diaries" world might throw at him.

He glanced at the clock. Today was his first day at his new school.

"Guess I'll just lay low for now — play the role of rich transfer student. See what this world's all about before I make any moves."

He grabbed his documents, headed down to the garage, and got into a sleek sports car.

In the United States, sixteen-year-olds could legally drive — and being a rich orphan, driving a luxury car to school was practically expected.
