Chapter 16: Confessions, Revelations, and the Tenth Match
Xiao Xiao, you can't do this!
Dong'er pushed Xiao Xiao away, her face clearly flushed with embarrassment.
"No, I… I like you… Take me!"
Like a possessed beast, Xiao Xiao lunged again toward Dong'er, the effects of alcohol written all over her.
Dong'er quickly shouted at me:"Ji Lin, why are you still standing there? Pull her away, quickly!"
I realized I had no other choice. I had been enjoying the scene a little, but now things had gone too far. Quickly, I stepped between Xiao Xiao and Dong'er.
I said firmly:"Xiao Xiao, calm down. Maybe Dong'er isn't right for you!"
Xiao Xiao froze, her expression one of shock.
"Not right for me? Are you two… really married?"
I sighed inwardly. Why is this getting more complicated?
At that moment, Dong'er stepped forward, realizing she could no longer keep her secret, or else the misunderstanding would only deepen.
Finally, Dong'er said:"Xiao Xiao, I'm not a boy… I'm a girl!"
A look of relief crossed her face, as if a heavy burden had been lifted from her shoulders.
Xiao Xiao was stunned, unable to believe what she'd just heard.
Dong'er sighed again:"Sadly, I never intended to tell you this… but I can't keep it hidden anymore. So I'll be honest with you."
I stood there between the two girls, trying to process everything, thinking: Alright… things are clearer now, but I still have to calm this down before it spins even further out of control.
Xiao Xiao sat on the ground, stunned, unable to fully process what had just happened. It all felt like a dream, and she even questioned whether she had heard correctly.
As for me, I sat calmly, having known all along that Dong'er was a girl, so I had no reason to be as shocked as Xiao Xiao.
I heard her mumble:"Are you really a girl, like me?"
She was pointing at Dong'er in front of her, then took a deep breath and finally regained her composure.
Despite the shock, she decided to believe her, for Dong'er was the first person she had ever loved in her life.
Xiao Xiao felt a slight disappointment but tried to appear calm:
"Haha… so it was all just a misunderstanding!"
She smiled and said:"Even if we can't be lovers, we can still be good friends. Don't overthink it, just keep drinking!"
I sat there, watching Dong'er laugh while holding her beer, reflecting on how complicated relationships could be sometimes, yet somehow, everything had become a little clearer now.
I smiled as I watched the scene, feeling a quiet pleasure seeing both of them enjoy the beer in such a childish, playful way.
"Drink slowly, Dong'er… no need to rush!" I said, trying to slow her down, while Xiao Xiao laughed loudly, cheering her on.
I noticed how Dong'er's face trembled slightly after finishing a whole bottle, and she coughed violently, yet the excitement in her eyes was unmistakable.
I smirked at her and teased:
"I see whoever falls first will lose, but it looks like you two are ready for the challenge!"
The atmosphere was full of fun and laughter, the cool breeze weaving through the trees as if it were sharing our little moment, far away from the academy and all its tensions.
I observed every movement, every smile, every interaction, and realized that this moment, simple as it was, was full of warmth and the bonds beginning to strengthen between us.
Seeing this, I quickly moved to help Wang Dong'er regain her balance, muttering a little to myself.
"Wow, it looks like you handle alcohol really well! That's impressive!"
Xiao Xiao couldn't contain herself and gave a thumbs-up, clearly admiring Dong'er's tolerance.
"Thanks for the compliment!"
Dong'er wiped her mouth with a light smile, though a hint of discomfort was visible.
Then Xiao Xiao handed another bottle of beer to Dong'er.
"Another one?" Dong'er asked in surprise.
"Yes!" Xiao Xiao replied enthusiastically, and Dong'er nodded in agreement.
That night, they both slept deeply!

The Next Day
And so, the second round of the first-year student evaluation competition was about to begin!
The new students were extremely strong, and our opponents from yesterday were not even close in skill. After a heated battle, we had managed to win easily!
Over the next few days, our team forged a strong path in the competition, achieving nine consecutive victories!
But with the tenth match, the situation suddenly changed.
"The tenth match is coming up. We will face Huang Choutian's team from the seventh class. Everyone ready? Let the match begin!"
We immediately took our positions at the referee's command. A sharp sense of anticipation coursed through me—the confrontation was direct and intense, and all eyes were on us.
Before the match began, I quickly scanned Huang Choutian's team. The spotlight wasn't entirely on him, but rather on the twin sisters, Lan Susu and Lan Luolu, standing behind him.
Both of them looked almost identical, from their appearance to their outfits. Huang Choutian's long blue hair, angled bangs, and black hairpin at the side, combined with his delicate oval face, fair skin, and wide blue eyes, gave him a striking and impressive presence.
As soon as the starting whistle blew, my team and I immediately released our spirits. Huang Choutian's spirit was a monkey, renowned for its iron-like strength and immense power.
"Spirit Skill One: Mighty Vajra Fist!"
The attack shot toward us instantly, but I, with my Light Butterfly spirit—famous for its incredible speed and explosive power—blocked the strike.
What followed was a fierce clash.
"Bang!"
The sound of colliding spirits echoed throughout the arena, and the outcome was astonishing. The clash wasn't as balanced as I had anticipated—it ended completely differently. Huang Choutian was stunned, staggering a few steps before finally regaining his balance.
This… this is a strange feeling. I hadn't expected the match to be this intense and forceful!
I immediately remembered—Huang Choutian possessed the Monkey Spirit!
He was in a precarious position, facing both me and Wang Dong'er head-on. I could feel everyone's eyes on us, especially the new students, who cheered enthusiastically:
"Awesome! Amazing!"
"Go, Dong'er! Defeat him!"
I smiled inwardly. The cheers had boosted Wang Dong'er's popularity among the students, and more importantly, it strengthened her resolve against Huang Choutian.
I heard the roar of the crowd and watched as Huang Choutian gritted his teeth, growling in anger, then surged toward us again.
"Spirit Skill One: Winged Guillotine!"
Wang Dong'er sprang into action, her wings flapping violently, slicing through under Huang Choutian's guard with incredible speed. I hadn't expected such precision and swiftness.
Then, suddenly, the Butterfly Blades shot out from her back, cutting through the air like lightning toward Huang Choutian's neck.
I saw Huang Choutian crossing his arms to block the strike, while Wang Dong'er had already spun around, her blades darting toward him like a frenzied dance of dragons and snakes.
Huang Choutian was taken aback. He struck his chest, and the Butterfly Blades shredded his clothes instantly. A shiver ran down his spine as he leapt backward, trying to regain his balance.
Yet Wang Dong'er's blades, like shadows, followed him relentlessly, forcing him to dodge again.
When the Lan sisters finally arrived, they assisted Huang Choutian in fending off Wang Dong'er's attacks, temporarily slowing her advance.
Wang Dong'er's assault faltered, giving Huang Choutian a moment to catch his breath and close the distance between us.
His ears twitched, sensing the imminent danger, and he launched a powerful Vajra strike to hit my side.
But I immediately sensed that he had underestimated Wang Dong'er's speed. Despite the strength of his punch, it couldn't stop her from closing in once again, and the battle continued at a fierce pace!
I instantly realized the seriousness of the situation and focused all my senses on the opposing team's movements.
